There's actually a small conversation in the Pittsburg Hotel in the game where it's implied that Joel tried to kill himself. Ellie finds the body of someone who committed suicide, and she says something between the lines of "I guess they took the easy way out", and Joel says "believe me, there's nothing easy about it".
Yupp This! I've been saying this since the beginning. Cause There was a lot of people saying that "Joel in the game would never do that" "this isn't the Joel I know". and i'm sitting here like, welllllll there's this.
Hi, I think that house had to have been a nod to part 2, it was nearly identical. I enjoyed the show but the last 3 eps just had too much left out imo. It just felt like an abridged version. It needed 1 or 2 more episodes.
My favourite parts were the expanded lore like the in 2nd episode with the fungal expert saying bomb the city, that's what I wanted to see. Stuff that would otherwise be boring in a game, I was hoping there'd be maybe a little bit of the Ish story expanded on like Frank's was but oh well.
I agree about the rushed conversation between Joel and Marlene. This episode needed more breathing room to let the moral dilemma sink in. I wanted more suspenseful build up to the point when it clicks for the audience (who aren't familiar with the game) that the Fireflies are willing to kill Ellie for the cure.
Really enjoyed the series. It's a good re-telling for those who have no desire to play the game with some neat additions. Lack of action/infected doesn't really bother me too much like some others. Do wonder if its budget related. I personally much prefer part 2 to 1 story wise despite it not being as tight in focus, so really looking forward to see how they adapt it over 20(18?) episodes.
I don't care that Neil said that that wasn't Abby, he has lied about stuff for marketing numerous times. For one, before the original game first released, he said we wouldn't be able to play as Ellie, and let us not forget that Part 2 trailer where Joel shows up and tells Ellie "you think I'd let you do this on your own?" when he was actually already dead by then. He's pulling the exact same thing here, I guarantee it.
You're equating two things that aren't equal. Prior to Part 2 releasing he wanted to keep as much secret about the game as possible. Lying about the identity of Abby in the TV show serves zero purpose. The question is when season 2 arrives and that wasn't Abby will people accept they were wrong or cry that he changed it because too many people "guessed"? Sadly, knowing gamers it will be the second. A gamer cannot be wrong about something, after all. /s.
That definitely wasn't Abby. She had no reason to be there anyway, just running around. Even in the game she only came to her father after the shooting. Not to mention what a terrible way to introduce a major character it would be. I don't think Abby was even casted yet when they were shooting episode 9, especially when it's such an important, even controversial role, not a throwaway one.
Hey man, i’ve been watching your videos for a few years now. Not all of them but still regularly. I never leave a comment, sometimes i leave a like, sorry i’m just like that. But still, you are literally the ONLY channel, i turned notifications on, so you got that haha. Anyways.. i told myself, i owe you a compliment and some kind of appreciation, that’s the least. For what it’s worth. I think you are doing great job, doing what you do. Besides that; i think it is obvious, and i guess all your viewers would agree, you come across like a great person with a great personality. That’s what i like. Beside the fact that i’m a huge fan of the last of us, of course. Keep on doing so great, and congrats to the discipline for the weight loss! Keep it up!
yeah honestly the one good thing the show kinda rewrote about the game, is how ellie is immune. it even almost makes sense scientifically and generally, because if thats the only way to be immune, then there really wouldnt be very many , if any, immune eople like ellie in the world. like a 1-10million chance. becuase not only does the mother have to be giving birth while bitten by an infected, but also the baby has to actually survive the whole birth. even if there was another mom out there somewhere who gave birth righ after being bitten, what are the chances the baby would even survive?
Really enjoyed the first 3 eps and episode 5, but apart from that I think it turned a little meh thereafter. There's a lot of talk about how the show "had no zombies", which people are ridiculing, but I think there is partial credence to this in the sense that overall the show just glosses over the action segments of the game and doesn't substitute the gameplay parts with anything. This leads to the show just lacking a lot of conflict points, which further harms the progression of the so-called "character focused story". The episode where Joel confronts Ellie while she reads the pre-breakout diary is the biggest example of this. In the game it means something because before all that the tension builds up as she runs away and Joel has to fight his way through bandits. In the show, there's nothing, and it renders the whole thing hollow. And this pattern repeats itself a lot throughout the season. I think they have to realize they're gonna have to go bigger with the action for season 2. That storyline will NOT work with glossing over the action.
In the game when Joel is killing everyone to save Ellie it feels heroic and I felt like I was on his side. But in the show it felt sad and I wasn't sure whos side to be on. Maybe something to do with the music and setting
@@MM-hi right! I definitely didn’t feel heroic even though I wanted to save Ellie. I especially didn’t feel heroic after when I watched Joel shoot Marlene.
I feel like almost every dialogue from the game was rushed or cut short. For me it was an 8/10 because it lacked infected and 2 out of the 9 episodes being unnecessary.
My main complaint is the lack of infected and lets be real here the bill and frank stuff did not need to cover an entire episode im gay and i didnt like it the target audience

yes and maybe it was the model for the house in the game.
What else would you have had the two of them doing?
My favourite parts were the expanded lore like the in 2nd episode with the fungal expert saying bomb the city, that's what I wanted to see. Stuff that would otherwise be boring in a game, I was hoping there'd be maybe a little bit of the Ish story expanded on like Frank's was but oh well.
I loved seeing Laura Bailey come back as one of the nurses in the operating room!

I couldn't unhear Ellie in those grunts either.

He cannot be trusted, I hate him for stuff like this
If that was Abby she would have been running towards his dad in the surgery room to defend it not run away.

its not abby

I thought the house looked like part 2 as well! No one mentioned it!
Ive already forgot that there was one review missing, enjoyed them a lot
9:55 about that.
I think it was her but Neil druckmann shut off that rumor on kinda funny games podcast although I don’t believe him lol

It even has the tractor in the same place outside the house. And that is definitely abby running away 😂
You just don't introduce a very important character in such a weird, unimportant way.
yeah honestly the one good thing the show kinda rewrote about the game, is how ellie is immune. it even almost makes sense scientifically and generally, because if thats the only way to be immune, then there really wouldnt be very many , if any, immune eople like ellie in the world. like a 1-10million chance. becuase not only does the mother have to be giving birth while bitten by an infected, but also the baby has to actually survive the whole birth. even if there was another mom out there somewhere who gave birth righ after being bitten, what are the chances the baby would even survive?

love you man keep up the good work!!
What about the Series Part II: go for the videogame script or show something else happening in Jackson?
In the game when Joel is killing everyone to save Ellie it feels heroic and I felt like I was on his side. But in the show it felt sad and I wasn't sure whos side to be on. Maybe something to do with the music and setting
i'm sure they did that scene like that just to justify all the golf joel's gonna have in season 2 lol
I really doubt the game wanted you to feel heroic when that was happening
I feel that its because you're watching the character as opposed to controlling him
You saw it from everyone else's perspective.
@@MM-hi right! I definitely didn’t feel heroic even though I wanted to save Ellie. I especially didn’t feel heroic after when I watched Joel shoot Marlene.
There's nothing exciting to make me watch it twice, gone and forgotten.
I feel like almost every dialogue from the game was rushed or cut short. For me it was an 8/10 because it lacked infected and 2 out of the 9 episodes being unnecessary.
Hello there :)
Hey
Where them infected at?
This show should’ve been at least 2 seasons ~ 16 episodes. Way too rushed. It gave too many game of thrones season 8 vibes
My main complaint is the lack of infected and lets be real here the bill and frank stuff did not need to cover an entire episode im gay and i didnt like it the target audience
Hey I was xam_backwards on the live feed, it feels really cool to be on RUclips now!
It was good, enjoyed watching it but wouldn't watch it again. Not enough action
First
I'm very excited for season 2, even more than a possible Part 2
