I spent several hours with Eli in the early 70s. His acting genius and stardom notwithstanding, Eli is as classy and likeable a guy as you could find on earth. He gave me a great hug before we parted that night. I'll remember Eli until my own days come to a close.
He might not appreciate my feeling, but he will always be Tuco to me. Saw that movie in the drive in when I was around 7 or 8 years old. And man, did that make a life long impression on me. He literally made that character come alive with his acting skill. Just hearing his voice, make me think he is going to draw on me.
That scene when he meets up with his brother who became a priest is a great scene, the other actor spoke no English so he did his lines in Italian and Eli did them in English.

Mr.Wallach was a very fine actor. Sergio Leone did an excellent job of using the closeup to take advantage of Mr. Wallachs ability to act with small facial moves that speak volumes. He was perfect for the part in TGTBATU.
Just finishing watching the good the bad and the ugly on new year 2021 , just as exciting as I watch it the first time in the 70s .Eli is such a good actors , loved him in this movie
Eli in this discussion is fantastic l do like the fact when went back on time when he was a kid then when he explained in a such beautiful & simple way everything about theater , movies , tv it's practical moral in the society of its effects then explained the quality of the theater that is completely different because is live that the public is present & therefore the influence of its participation is all there then as he continuing his remarks are very interesting because his good sense of worth is always there I do like how he manage to show to the public the meaning of his perspective of his philosophy of life with responsibility of telling the truth as fit he is in my opinion a gentlemen .
So true ! I agree when he said that in modern movies you hear the fu*** word every minute. He was an actor from another planet, thanks for your masterpieces.
He even got to play in a Bruce Lee movie that Lee wrote but sadly past away before it was made "The Silent Flute" aka Circle of Iron ! R.I.P. Eli Wallach ❤🙏
Never in my wildest dreams i would have guesed he was an American born and bred. Truly a great actor Tuco. Generations to come will see a great a actor
Eli Wallach indeed was an extremely gifted performer. While Tuco is a better know character, his portrayal of Calvera in "The Magnificent Seven" was also riveting. As a member of one of the most amazing casts ever assembled which included Yul Brynner, Steve McQueen, Charles Bronson, and James Coburn, Wallach dominates every scene he is a part of. He was a joy to watch.
Tuco Benedicto Pacífico Juan María Ramírez! A men whom you were able to listen too! You had a wonderfull wife, carrer and life! Tx for enjoying you Eli!
Talking about Tuco... Eli Wallach gave such an amazing acting, the movie was a success only (ONLY) because of him. The other "actors" did nothing, no acting. Eastwood says nothing and only shoots and/or chewing a cigar. Lee van cliff- OK, he does not need to talk, his facial physique does all the talking. But Eli Wallach- Amazing! He dominates the fun, the fear, the zest of Tuco. Some of his facial gestures will stay with ne forever.

Eli Wallach makes sense about the over use of sex and profanity in films and TV, but I disagree about actors using their fame to push their political opinions. There are actors I used to like that I can't stand anymore for that reason and avoid their movies.
Wallach makes some pointed comments on what I see as the vulgarization of popular culture. I fear this post-modernist phenomenon, decades in the making and showing no sign of abating, reflects a wider decline in the values and ethics of Western society, a wholesale uprooting of traditional norms and conceptions of good taste that had prevailed in the West since the Enlightenment and separated the poor, cheap, and vulgar from the high-minded, erudite, and artistic. The blurring of standards of respectability and decency - driven by nihilistic post-modern thought and its ally, profit-driven commercialism - has opened the floodgates fully to vacuous, obscene, tawdry, prurient, and perverted cultural products that corrupt the malleable minds of youth, dull the intellect, and independent-thinking, of grown-ups, and raise the cynicism, ignorance, and blind conformity of the population at large to new historic heights. If we continue on this frightening course, it is probable that, by the end of the present century, we'll regress to a society of illiterate ignoramuses, our obese, immobile bodies perpetually glued to plushly upholstered lazy boy chairs while mindlessly watching whatever insipid CGI garbage passes for 'entertainment' in 2100. Think the future conjured by films like "Idiocracy" and "Wall-E," but even more dystopic!
What is with that horrible music for the intro?? This is an interview with one of the all-time greatest actors, not a scary movie. I don't think a lot of people know just good this man was. He has to be the most under-rated actor of all time. But for his fans, we have no doubt about his great skills and his wonderful range in all the roles he did.
