To think that he played The Good, the Bad and the Ugly at 51 years old is unbelievable. That is an incredibly physical role. Great actor!
Respect all the way. Such an amazing role. Especially when you consider the fact, that the scene in the shop (when he is putting his gun together, and then shooting cardboard targets at the back of the shop) - was mostly improvised by him. He simply started to put the gun together, from some different parts, and Sergio let it happen when rolling the movie (he let it go all the way to see what Eli was doing). Such amazing scene if you think about that.
Edit: spelling & grammar
R.I.P. Eli Wallach a legend. 98 years of memories.
Super Talented Actor ,an Icon .
"...a lot of actors take a long time to die..."
Thankfully, Eli was one of them.
@Stefano Pavone when he died..
When there's time to die, die, don't live.
His "Tuco" performance one of the best acting performance of cinema history!
definitely, the good the bad and the ugly was tuco`s film.
Eli Wallach is a brilliant actor l love Tuco's role R.I.P
+sebastian alegria RIP ? I didn't know he died. Just learning it. The GBU is his movie. He is the main character.
He stole that movie.
No doubt... Eli was the star ... No disrespect to Clint or Lee
wrong @@tonyrichards1488
Eli Wallach should have gotten an Academy Award for Tuco, I think the movie would have been so little if he had not been in it.
nah....he copied toshito mifune.
I totally agree! Eli's acting stole the show for sure.
Tuco was robbed. Irony.
a masterful performance. Absolutely brilliant.
It wasn't a Hollywood production........
Every time I see the late Mr. Wallach in any film, I always think about Tuco...and end up watching GBU one more time! I have to admit that he is one of the main reasons I've watched GBU 15 times and counting! What a great Actor - RIP...
+Eleni Fokea I like his smile in one of the scenes in GBU. Genuine smile to the audience. This is how I remember him. I am sure you know the scene I am talking about.
Great to see Sergio Leone really cares for the actors in his film.
"One bastard goes in, another one comes out!"
Thank you for all the years of entertainment, Eli. R.I.P.
I am so glad I found this interview. Eli did what he had to to be the 'Ugly' - and that made him the most lovable character in the movie.
Bende zaten o rolü oynadığı için onu çok sevdim..🇹🇷❤️🇺🇸🎆🎄🎇👋
Somehow this guy could play any role in the world. He was an actor's actor. And I always had my eye on him. He stole every scene. You could watch him think. It was amazing.
I purchased the book "The Good, the Bad, and Me" ~ Eli Wallach several weeks ago at a local Library sale for $1.00 along with a few Paintings by local artists, and I just yesterday got to read the book. (on ch 10 now) and it is a very good read. Being a book collector of sorts, I bought a lot of books that didn't tickle my fancy, but this one is a masterful read that will adorn my limited bookshelf space for many, many years to come.
RIP Eli..one of the greatest Banditos in movie history, Tuco Ramirez.
Brother of Brother Ramirez!
@@louie99999 LOL!!!
Tuco, one of the great movie villains. Eli brought so much depth. Amazing!
Eli should have earned an Oscar for his performance. He shined
Eli Wallach is the best legendary actor ever lived R.I.P. man
Happy Birthday Eli Wallach. December 7, 1915
Eli Wallach, besides being a phenomenal actor, is also a US Army veteran of WW2. He served in the ETO (Europe) as a combat medic.
He still sounds like Tuco :D
What a performance he put in on that film. He was awesome. One of the best character actors ever.
What an iconic characater... OMG. I love him.
Old man...So strong still.. here... And now he is gone... I miss you Tuco!!
A very spirited actor, His Tuco character was the best. ❤️❤️
Great stories, what a good chap, well miss you Eli!
Great man, great actor and a legend in cinema.
What a magnificent actor Eli Wallach truly is. Such artistry, such credibility, such talent! He brings his character to life in stunning detail. For my money, Tuco is the most difficult part to play because of his many and varied character traits. Yet, Eli pulls it off with consumate ease. A truly gifted actor indeed. He's the reason why I bought the DVD boxset containing the famous 'trilogy'. I can't praise Eli high enough -he's an absolute legend! Many thanks for uploading this video ;-)
Tuko was my favorite character, he was the crown jewel of the "good the bad and the ugly" not to take anything away from Clint nor Cleeve, the whole movie, the cast, the music, the scene, the best of all the spaghetti westerns ever.
Eli Wallach, Clint Eastwood, and Lee Van Cleef are my three favorite Western actors. Tremendous respect for all of them. Even above John Wayne. Magnificent Seven and The Good, The Bad, and THe Ugly are among my favorite westerns...also love High Plains Drifter, Pale Rider, Unforgiven, Tombstone, Fistful of Dollars, For a Few Dollars More, 3:10 to Yuma....all classics.
Eli - a great actor who makes every movie a success!
Great actor. Rest in peace Eli Wallach. You were one of the best actors.
Great to see Eli Wallach. He really is somewhat like Tuco, amazingly... What a great film that was.
"IF U WANT TO SHOOT, SHOOT! DON'T TALK!" :))
hahahahahahaha.... In one intervie he said : People found it Funny but I was just making an statement of fact !
Eli has outlived nearly everybody...he's so awesome! I hope to be like him if i live that long.
How can you not have respect for this great man.
I've watched "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly" countless times since the 1960s and I still enjoy it.
Rest in peace Eli..thanks so much for all the entertainment you have given us over all these years you are magnificent...R.I.P.
1 of the great actors of the 20th century that young people MAY recognize but not really know unless they search the archives..
Eli Wallach what a legend a great actor and a lovely man
One of the greatest actors of stage and screen. His charaterisations will captivate audiences for all generations to come.
RIP ELI , LOVE YOU Bro. !!! A FIRST CLASS ACTOR
Rest in peace Eli Wallach (98). You were an amazing actor and you will be missed.
Wholly agreed, it will suck all the same when Clint Eastwood dies too.
I sure hope so, he's only 84 right now, which is pretty high up there, but enough for a man like him to keep kickin' for a while yet. Long live the movie heroes of Yesteryear!
+RedBaronFilms1918 he's so overrated. eli is far superior and so was lee
Coco Pops
In what ways is he overrated? To me, they're all equal.
RedBaronFilms1918 then you certainly lack taste! It's so obvious that he plays himself. Eli was not his equal. He was his superior and his wife range of roles proved it. Clint's best film was thunderbolt and Lightfoot and even then Jeff Bridges outshined him! He always feels threatened by those he know have more talent. That in itself is very telling. Even Lee van cleef made him feel insecure. Good actors don't start complaining. So far he's complained about Lee, eli Jeff and some others of outshining him. Good actors are confident. His face is nice and all but that's what's got him far. Not his talent.
What a lovely Man he was... Tuco Was simply amazing charachter Rip. Eli you wil be Forever in my memories
We love you and will always miss you, Mr.Eli Wallach!
The star of that movie. Rest easy Eli.
Thank you Eli, wherever you are...
The Good the Bad and the Ugly: Probably the grandfather of all Westerns.
Spaghetti western...
Western genre is much much older...than '60s.
Marco Franceschini
I prefer the title "Italian Westerns" for the movies beginning in the early 1960's in Europe, often with Italian directors. "Spaghetti Westerns" are a ridiculous name for these important, sophisticated films. (...) They picked up from work in America, of course, and also from an interesting unknown 'little' film called "Dranjo" (1957). The genesis of the Italian Western, and its history and elements, is very interesting.
Yes, this is possible, and that is why I recommend people not to use it, but rather the term "Italian Westerns". The latter is unquestionably a more accurate description and name, broadly speaking, as many of the directors *filming* these Westerns were Italian. And this even though much of the filming was often not in Italy itself, but in the deserts of middle Spain. The inspiration came from Italy, however. And btw. I count Sergio Leone as having made only four Italian Westerns: The three with Eastwood, and then "Fistful of Dynamite" (1972, aka "Duck, You Sucker") with James Coburn, Rod Steiger, and Romolo Valli: a very enjoyable, if somewhat overlong, film. But then again, many of Leone's westerns were 'somewhat overlong' !! "Once Upon a Time in the West", filmed in America, was more so an attempt at making a great American western.
Wallach. Eastwood and Lee Van Cleef...three great actors...
Rest in peace Mr. Wallach.
Amen. Good words. (....) You were a great, funny actor, and the history of the Italian Western would not be the same without you.
It's great to see Eli still alive and very much active, he looks great.
I agree. I am reading his autobiography at the moment and it's fascinating. He knew and trained with so many wonderful actors of the time. He was at university with John Connelly. He is a family man who also worked with so many famous people - he knew/trained with Tony Randall, Gregory Peck and Tommy Ewell in the 50s.
What a lovely man. Rest in peace sir. God bless your soul
Eli Wallach was a great actor.
Legend of a man, thank you Eli
My favorite Calvera line from the Magnificent Secen "If they were not meant to be shorn, God would not have made them sheep."

What an Actor
A star in real life as well as on the screen
One of my all-time favorite actors.
What a shock. My wife and I were newly married when this came out and we went to see it. We both loved Eli as Tuco. Never again. Sigh.
RIP Eli Wallach died onthe age of 98. A good age and a great actor. He was great in The good the bad and the ugly.
Oh, I got an explanation for that scowl at the lady! That was one of the many great touches on the role.
Mr. Wallach and Mr. Vaughn passed away 2014 and 2016, respectively. R.I.P. to both...
Wonderful, Eli.
Only he could make a despicable scoundrel loved by all.

A brilliant actor, still active well into his 90s, and married to the same woman for over 60 years... Eli Wallach is my hero.
Most loveable villain in the history. He is a demi GOD. RIP Great Man
There are no other Gods besides Lord Jesus Christ. He does punish idolaters later that keep doing it and don't stop. Unfortunately there is no rest for the unrepentant and the disbelievers in the lake of fire and brimstone. It is the second death.
when i was little boy i cannot miss any show of italian western and still love any movies of them i can tell italian actors they are the best teachers and wises of hollywood because no italian actors no hollywood and i can tell the History repeats itself
We all run with you in that cemetery, Tuco!
