The most wonderfully weird, yet compelling relationship. One moment they get along like a house on fire, the next they stab each other in the back. Brilliant chemistry on display between Eastwood and Wallach, they're a delight to watch.
I agree, but I don't think Eli Wallach received the Oscar because it was an Italian movie made in 1966 but not released in the United States until 1969, meaning he would have had to have been nominated for the 1970 awards, four years after the movie was made. A Fistful of Dollars (1964) and For A Few Dollars More (1965) were not released in the United States until 1967.
That Tuco is a beauty !!! I don't think I've ever seen a better supporting actor. He plays this character just perfectly, and carried this movie as much as Clint.
Tuco describing Blondie. It is not in this clip but in the movie. "He's tall, he's blonde, he smokes cigars and he's a pig" Eli Wallach and Clint Eastwood together made the best western of all time in my opinion.

It's a pity that acting today isn't such a hit. Real acting and performance with this golden era. No special effects, just plain old fashioned and wonderful acting. Pity, today's film industry cannot adopt such a wonderful copy of this. This is true acting and a fantastic Western. Entertainment at its best!

i've seen it many times and when it came out in 1968, it's grown into one of the best movies of all time. it just took people awhile to realize how good it is on many levels, plot, character development, music and entertainment value. the movie lived up to it's name.
Perfect acting by Wallach. Every scene with him in it is unlimited entertainment. Never another performance better, before or since. The script here makes no sense at times, but due to Wallach, this movie is top 10 all time.

Never saw that scene where Tuco is washing his foot in the bucket while dehydrated Blondie is lying on his stomach, not even in the director's cut version.
Eli Wallach's character is the real life Daffy Duck; greedy, no manners, egotistical, arrogant, and uses others for the soul purpose of wealth and spoils. "I'm a coward, but I am a Greedy coward!" -- Daffy Duck
Since i first saw that movie in the 1980's, i have always thought that Eli Wallach (Tuco) was Hispanic. I found out yesterday that he was Polish. VERRRRRYYY GREAT ACTOR!
"I'll keep the money and you can have the rope." Well, I suppose the rope is a major part of their business venture. It's a key asset that he's given him! The money is a transient thing, the rope and the business model behind it MAKES the money. That's how Tuco should have thought about it.

Eastwood had bad skin as soon as his thirties hit and he was 35 when this was filmed. Pretty sure the guy wouldn't even know what sun screen was if you told him he needed it. And the funny thing is even with the damaged skin he was still one of the best looking men in the world. Terrible how aged his skin was at such a young age though.
