Bangles - I'll Set You Free (Live from Santa Clara CA 9/2/89)
Recorded live at the Redwoods Amphitheatre, Santa Clara CA, the final show of their 'Everything, Everywhere' Tour. This show would become notable as being the Bangles last performance together prior to their initial break-up several months later.
I've compiled all of the Bangles "Best In (Live) Show" tracks into five different volumes for download on Mediafire. This one is part of volume 3 which covers the 'Everything, Everywhere' tour of 1989 with selections from the Road Party event near Houston, Texas, as well as the last night of the tour in Santa Clara CA on September 2, 1989. That show would become the last performance by the band until their reunion in 2000.

Singing those harmonies in concert shows how damn fine they really were.
Never, in the history of this great music we call rock n roll, has there ever been the vocal richness and beauty and hotness of the Bangles. They are sui generis in that way and those who had power over their career and did not foster that are burdened with some very bad karma IMHO.
I really love Micki's low-end backup vocals on this, the album, and the single versions! So good
This is such a beautiful song. I think this could've hit number 1 like Eternal Flame, but it never got a chance with their breakup. And the pic you posted is one of my faves of them. Such a great group & it's a shame many possibilities ended when they broke up.
I agree with every word. This song would have done really well, if not number 1. Love the melody and harmony on this song.
Side note: The ladies really do look lovely in this photo. I hope Micki is happy and doing well, wherever she is.
@@michaeleveringham8238 I agree - this is a beautiful song.
Much better song than Eternal Flame!
Those girls could sing!
they still can
i wish ther was a video to this :'(
The final date of the band’s Everything Everywhere tour and the final date of the 1980s tenure of The Bangles before a hiatus of 10 years.
the best pop band of the 80/90..
The perfect combination, of charisma angelical voices and letters, The Bangles On my heart, rock for ever...
i love this song tehy should of made an official video to this song
I think they broke up before it was released as a single. Wasn't it the last on the album?
My mom loves this Song and all the album Everything ,because she got this in casette tape.
Those dresses, very Sgt Pepperish😊
Uno de los grandes temas de Bangles, que merecía una mejor promoción en la época de su lanzamiento. El tiempo siempre pone las cosas en su lugar y hoy es considerado como uno de los himnos de este genial cuarteto.
their coming to saint louis next month in october
micki!
This was my neck of the woods, at that time. What a dope I was for not goin'....
By the way... I never heard this song. It's really good....
@@fredflintstone2958 Yeah, dumbass, but the studio version will destroy you....
Susanna sounds a lot like Paulette Carlson of Highway 101 Two of the best female singers ever.
Could have been the fourth single from "Everything", but it all fell apart before that happened. A one-of-a-kind group; they got back together a few years later and still perform, minus Michael, every once in awhile.
RJ McAllister It's not the same without Michael, though
@@inabind416 ...no matter who they get on stage for the bass ... without michael it CAN NOT be the same. Impossible!!!
Well, there is a modus operandi in the biz and the 3 album deal is it. It's followed by the star going solo. So, I think the reason it was not made a single is because they were planning on making it the single from the greatest hits, but because they had officially broken up by then, it did not get the push it should have, with an official video and television appearances.
The business really screwed the bangles up. The turning point was If she knew what she wants. They should have instead released In a Different Light. That would have kept their rockband cred alive, while also showcasing a different lead vocalist, plus the familiarity of Susanna's voice is prominent enough for people to know it's the same band.
By releasing ISKWSW they created the Susanna is the lead template and they never got past it.
The next mistake was In Your Room/Be With You.
Rather than In Your Room being the first single from Everything, they should have released a different vocalist. Be With You was the wrong Debbi song to be a single. Yes it has the strings and all that, but it just isn't the hit that Some Dreams Come True is.
They should have released Some Dreams Come True before the albums release. the. Release In Your Room a few days before the albums release. Then Eternal Flame. Or at the very least, just released Some Dreams Come True instead of Be With You and given it as much push as in your room. Side 2 of the greatest hits being
Hazy Shade of Winter
In Your Room
Eternal Flame
Some Dreams Come True
I'll set you free
Everything I wanted
Where were you
Is still way too Susanna heavy to be a fair representation of the band. Maybe throwing What I meant to say up there would help.
But the funny thing is...
Often times the other bangles songs aren't single material.
They're great music but just not single material.
None of the other girls' songs on everything are singles.
Perhaps watching the sky? That song at least is distinctive enough. Perhaps the glamrocky late 80s could have found that as a single but it would be a lower charting/more cult status type song.
@@ullischuster1263 Ulli....have you heard the studio version of this? It destroyed me, man....you should check it out.
One of the few hits they had where they never did a video - didn't this come out as a single after they broke up initially?
A touch cyndi lauper. But great Bangles nonetheless ❤
So Michael was having episodes already?
Poor girl . . . doesn't deserve it . . .
This sounds like a bootleg. Did someone sneak a cassette recorder into the concert?
Wonder who broke her heart to write this?
So rude!
@@toscanoalexandre1455 BUT....you happen to be right!
Susana no era desafinada
Como respondiendo a mi propia respuesta eso no es respuesta es afirmacion
