Just made this! So yummy!! I modified a bit. I used the veggie buillon cube (I'm pescatarian), seasoned the oil in the pan with my homemade marinade before adding the.onions and peppers (coarsely chopped because I like it chunky, added more water to make it thinner because I love how it coats my brown rice, added coriander, and chipotle chili. That rice wine vinegar and brown sugar was such a nice touch! I'll add cilantro next time to take the flavor to another level. Super easy and yummy recipe. Quick dinner that everyone will enjoy. But this is bomb for all of the plant-based brok college students out there. Thank you!!!
I'm required to eat a certain amount of black beans for a diet I'm following, but I always hated them because I would simply boil them and put nothing more than salt on them. I made the black beans following this tutorial and I honestly think this is the best thing I've ever cooked. Thank you so much for this amazing and simple to follow trough recipe. Thanks for the recipe. Nutritional yeast aka "nooch" can be used as a vegan substitute for sopita or chicken bouillon you can sometimes specifically find a "chicken flavored" vegan broth base made from this.
Something I did different that I think helps elevate this amazing dish even more was putting in your oil volatile spices in with your onions and peppers such as the cumin as well as the tomato paste. It helps cooks them and develop their flavor a bit more

Love black beans. My mother always made them.They were my family’s favorite 🇩🇴. She did added the brown sugar and the vinegar but not the cumin. When I make them for my kids I love putting the cumin too. It gives it a different flavor.
