    I'm Bringing home a yorkie the first week of May. I had my first yorkie And she was with me for 14 years .14 years of purijoy. They are truly a unique breed. My yorkie slowly went blind and deaf, the transition was so slow, she was great. I miss her more than I could ever put into words. So I totally enjoyed this video it's been a long time obviously since I had a puppy. She is only 25 days old and 10 oz right now LOLI can't wait to meet her and bring her home at 12 weeks. I only work 3 days a week, 4 hrs each day So I have plenty of time to dedicate to my Puppy.
    Thank you for some of the reminders and for some of the extra tips!

    I just got mines for Christmas and she never cried... I’m surprised because the vet thinks she might be 1-2 weeks younger than 8 weeks. New sub!

    • @MeganGraham
      @MeganGraham  3 года назад +1

      oh no! Th let her leave her mom and littermates so early, I hope she is ok. Staying with the mom until 12 weeks is very important.

    • @genejaytre
      @genejaytre 3 года назад +1

      @@MeganGraham she wouldn’t eat at first but now she is. She still doesn’t drink water and the vet said 8 weeks is fine to be away from mom. She is lively now!

    • @MeganGraham
      @MeganGraham  3 года назад +4

      That’s great that she’s lively now.
      Eight weeks is fine for most puppies, but small dogs like Yorky should absolutely be with her mothers until 12 weeks old. I don’t think there’s anything you can do about it now, but it is too early and it affects their socialization as well as their development. I’m sure you will take the best care of her, but whoever bred her was not responsible to let her go home with someone that early. Lola actually had to stay with the breeder until 13 weeks because she was on the smaller side, but the only kinds of dogs that she go home at eight weeks are larger dogs like labrador retrievers. Most people don’t know this but it is true.

      That’s a great idea for a video, I will definitely try to do a video like that soon. I don’t actually fully groom my dogs and cut their hair I have a groomer do that, but they do get bands and a brush them out and keep their coats nice and tangle free. When I got my first Yorky as an adult I did not take his maintenance very seriously and he had a lot of tangles… When I dropped him off to the groomer they completely shaved him and the poor little guy was so sad. After that I learned my lesson and I always groomed my dogs regularly so that their coats were kept in good shape.

    Hi Megan...really enjoy your videos! Hubby and I decided to get two new puppies this summer...WE want to get two little girls but are undecided if we should get one puppy then get the other, from same breeder, the following year. Would getting them together lessen their sadness of leaving the pack? We thought getting them at separate times would possibly help train the second one? Any input is greatly appreciated! Thanx!

    • @MeganGraham
      @MeganGraham  Год назад +1

      You are so thoughtful to think about adopting two puppies for that reason.
      Personally I don’t think I could ever handle adopting two puppies at the same time. It would be really difficult to train two at once, and do all of the things that you have to do for a new puppy, but for two.
      I think it’s really up to you. If you feel that you can spend a lot of time with your puppy, that would also ease separation anxiety.
      The choice is up to you and I know it can be done because I’ve met people that have, it would just be a lot for me.

    I’ve had my new baby girl Fendi for now 2weeks. She hasn’t eaten unless I spoon feed her and give her fluids via syringe. I do also give her lots coconut water. She hasn’t become sick so far but I believe she’s home sick. She still doesn’t want to interact with my children or play at all. She lays on my chest and licks me all day long. She cries when I put her down and doesn’t want anyone around me at all. Recently started growling at my children. She’s now 6 months old. Loves me to the moon and back but is very antisocial with everyone else including my children

      @@MeganGraham Hi there! Yes I am sure as she came from my daughters aunt which we’ve been around for so long. We haven’t been around Fendi but we do know the date and time of her birth as her old caretakers love her dearly and took amazing care of her and her entire family. Not sure what’s going on but it’s a little alarming that she’s so scared of all. She was the bully of all of her siblings and loved to play all day but here she’s extremely scared. I asked my child’s aunt if she can send her brother which she’s extremely attached to but she said no due to her feeling that fendi will shut down once her brother Gucci goes back home. I am not sure what to do. She is being fed with spoon and syringe with fluids. If not she won’t eat. I kinda have to force feed her which worries me because now she’s not fighting feeding time.it seems as she began to not have desire to eat now Alf waits on me to feed her with spoon. Not sure what to do. I am more than willing to take advice from you.

    • @MeganGraham
      @MeganGraham  3 года назад +1

      I think potty training two dogs at the same time would definitely be twice as hard as training one. I mean, you have to be able to watch both of them, so it’s definitely going to be a lot harder, but I’m sure it will be worth it in the end.
      I would definitely separate and shop around your dogs as they are meeting. Sometimes dogs surprise you when they get along really well, but there can be a bit of a “breaking”. While they are getting to know each other. It’s definitely good to keep an eye out :-)

      @MeganGraham  3 года назад +2

      Hi Judy, I’m so sad for you that you lost your Yorky Lulu two years ago. I know it is so hard. I also lost my sweet dog Teddy two years ago. I would say that the best place to look for a breeder is to look at the Yorkshire terrier association for America and look for the breeder that’s closest in your area and contact them. There is usually a very long wait with these breeders but it is worth it to be on their list.
      Another great way to get a Yorky is to look at places where they are up for adoption. I promise, you will not bond any less with a dog that you get that is grown. As soon as it comes into your home you will fall absolutely in love, and you will have the added benefit of feeling so happy that you gave a precious baby at home that needed one very much.
