- Interview with Jerry Lee Lewis who had a internal stomach rupture in 1981 and spent 3 months in hospital and a long time in intensive care.He had a less than 50/50 chance but he is still with us today still rockin musically but his wild lifestyle is a thing of the past. I'm not totally sure when he stopped the wild stuff drinkin and drugs probably late 80's. It was interesting time for Jerry Lee as he was being sued by his record company as well.

Whatever happened to honest, transparent interviewing in our current days? I'm struck by the decency, courtesy, & honesty shown here by both parties. Jerry looks happy here, and grateful to be alive, which I'm sure he was after nearly leaving this earth like he did. Soon after this though, he went right back to roaring again with the alcohol and pills right up to the late 90's, when he gained a moment of clarity, and gave it all up finally. This interview is the rarest of the rare, and we're lucky to be able to see it again after all these years. A big thanks to you bailbath! Got any more jewels like this? I Love it!
Love coming back to these interviews with Jerry. He was always such a entertaining man, with such God Given Talent … A person that attracted, influenced, and inspired people by his personal qualities. God Bless You, he often said to those he spoke with, and made it known he loved the Lord.
He had a million dollar smile, striking looks and a charismatic personality, noticed far, and wide. But really was just a ole small town Louisiana boy! I miss him tremendously.

Just finished my junior year in high school. Had the Radio on listening to WAAF
Rock n Roll when all of a sudden the music stopped, and the DJ informed us listeners that Jerry Lee Lewis was in a Memphis Hospital And was not expected to live through the day. I was devastated by the news having been a fan of his and all the Sun Record pioneers of rock.
Flash ahead to 2020. WAAF is now gone. A religious station. But thankfully my Charger is still in the garage
And Jerry Lee Lewis is still here and sharp as a tac, life is really amazing sometimes.
I saw Jerry Lee Lewis in concert right after this interview,,,and he was still the best!!!

@@dorinriki There's plenty of unanswered questions about why the charges were dropped on one, which should get answered. Given that they were both doing drugs the real answers may never be found. The first one was an accidental drowning while at her sister's home.

Just about everyone smoked back then. It took education of the dangers to become widespread before it started to change. My father thought it was good for his asthma. Crazy but true.

Jerry Lee Lewis' whole life has been a near death experience. I heard him say when he was on the skids and working his way back the he spent 12 years in the back seat of a car. Just look at all the entertainers that did die while traveling.
He's not just the killer he is also a survivor. Tough as nails.
Maybe the toughest S.O.B. in rock. He lived another 40 years.

There is also a condition called Helicobacter Pylori (H.pylori). Which is very common now. Posh words for ulcers in stomach, The condition causes heart burn, stomach pain, bloating, and acid reflux, and this pain is ongoing until treatment happens, and you have to be careful what you eat or drink. Ok she was VERY young, though she was not a under 10 either, girls get older quicker than boys. He did not abuse her and loved her many years and I believe they were quite happy together, are you jealous ? If so, then search for a 13 year old girl for yourself and stop pissing others about someone else's life ! Try to live yours in a happy way, but don't be sad about anybody else's happiness !

Yes I know its his cousin. Jimmy's followers refer to him as Brother Jimmy. Jerry, Jerry's other cousin, Mickey Gilley, and Jimmy Swaggart all play boogie woogie piano, and all spent time working the clubs down by the railroad tracks learning the "devil's music". I think they lived in the same household for a time.

You'll notice comments about cigarette's benefiting health...particularly Rod Serling at the ending of his twilight zone episodes..good day.

We are all Jerry's Kids in a psychological disorder sense...some of us are just a little more intense with our behaviors or a little more revealing than others...no body's perfect in the societal sense but the place which we originates says otherwise...

Wow. Had no idea he almost died in 1981. If that had happened I wonder if his wife Jaren wouldn't have ended up mysteriously drowned at the bottom of their swimming pool the following year. Or his next wife of 77 days, Shawn, wouldn't have mysteriously overdosed on methadone and been dressed and placed under the covers in a bed after her death and before paramedics found her. Certainly his first daughter would still remember the images of him beating his third wife Myra in the face with her own fists since he did that more than a decade earlier, long after he impregnated her at age 14. He had filled my head with spiritual thoughts and made me believe we could pull this off. If I had stayed longer I think I would have been booed off the stage. That is why I chose the date 8-16-77. Do you know how many famous people passed away on that date? The great Robert Johnson died on 8-16 and he was born in 1935! Babe Ruth, and Bela Lugosi and many others. I must say I was very nervous that day 8-16. But it had to be done before I went on the road where I would not have been able to pull it off. Did you know there are secret compartments in Graceland that very few people know about! A few like Vester would joke about my being alive but no one took him serious. Many of my friends would ask if I were still alive and they have their doubts but as it was I might have died broke and just a shell of myself. I was given an injection that looked like I was dead but the people closest to me knew better. Believe me I had my doubts that this could be pulled off. But it did and I became Jesse, just a poor white southern boy who didn't sing a lick of anything. I feel bad my Daddy wasn't allowed to know but it just couldn't be done.
