You need to warn people NOT to shut the trunk/boot once you have disconnected the battery - especially if you connect the terminals together. I did this and cannot open the boot and will now need to call out a locksmith. I have no key entry option, nor a button in the cabin to open the boot. As the terminals in the boot are touching each other, jump starting will not work. This is an outrageous design flaw. This was my first BMW and it will also be my last.
If you have a sedan, pull the rear arm rest down. You'll a button. Push it and pull down the middle seat section. Hopefully this gives you enough space to pull the emergency latch.
If you have a coupe. You will have to pop the hood and jump jump the car. The positive terminal is under the red panel and the negative is the silver nub near the coolant expansion tank.
@@FritzRamos Thanks for the prompt response. Unfortunately there is no access in to the trunk from the centre arm rest - the car didn't come with a ski hatch. I had an auto locksmith attend today and he was unable to get in the trunk.
Hi Fritz this is Ron from England , i like the way you present your stuff it is exceptional and very easy to understand. This particular video is clearly the best I have seen. I have recently experienced a very similar example you give where the obd 11 when connected to a scan tool keep saying connection failure more information required . Having tried several scan tools with the same result . I decided I would check out what others have done to reset the ECU and your were clearly the best and has given me the confidence to do this . Well done
When i tried tuning my car the flash failed halfway through. I eventually got the car to start but the OBD wasnt communicating with the DME Just got done with these instructions and it worked like a charm! Thanks 😊
lol caused more error memory codes that i was trying to get rid of. and now the auto stop start function stopped working on my gr supra. altho cant tell if the autostop start was from bm3 reset or the positive negative contact drain.
Can You Use This Method To Reset The Cooling Codes? I’ve Basically Replaced My Entire Coolant System On My X3 But Its Still Throwing Signals That Its Overheating..
So if i have sport plus programmed and use this method to reset ECU, it should be back to factory reset? I have to take it to BMW and don't want them to cancel the warranty. Specially because it's leaking oil.
My 2016 F83 is having window and roof issues (they regularly stop working at all, or sometimes only in jerky stages with numerous button presses etc). I'm considering unplugging the battery for 15 mins and just plugging it back in. a) do you think that is likely to have any success at all? and b) is there any risk to the car by doing this? thanks in advance
Hie my guy .I have a 525i that drained its battery but now it's not starting and it's not activating the dashboard no key reading after replacing the battery
This video is nonsense. Disconnect the battery at the NEGATIVE terminal only. DO NOT CLOSE THE TRUNK. Lower the seats as a precaution in case you forget so you still have access to the trunk. DO NOT lock the car. Switch the lights on to use up any stored power. Leave for a few hours. Reconnect the negative terminal. Everything will be reset to default settings. You will have to reset the clock.
Hi, I did the screen retrofit the same as you and also some basic bimmercode coding. I have one problem being my nbt system has no information in the onboard computer and trip section. Would you know how I can get this back at all?
If you're talking about the stock Immo in a BMW - nope. Those are stored in the CAS and FEM or equivalent. There's a key that has to match. If you don't know the pin, or put a used CU in, and it's not an issue with your keys programming - you'll need a service/mechanic - or a friend with ISTA/BMW/autohexII or you'll need a an obd cord, some downloads and a phone or PC with the right software. If you're not savvy on programming your own ECU or FEM/CAS id go-to a local non-dealer who does euros and it'll be cheaper than the dealer. It's easy money for them
I put a different ecu in and now the bmw won’t start I put the original and it still doesn’t start and this only happened after I put a different ecu but I never coded the different ecu, I just put it in then start the car and it wouldn’t start
Can you tell me if I can get rid of a message coming up about transmission malfunction I can't drive my BMW 2007 530i . I tried to reset by 30 sec on gas pedal n still stuck is there anyway I can bypass n reset anywhere please help me
Great video man, I was wondering why your battery is in that compartment and then I realized it's not your 2er. Also, will this reset the auto transmission adaptation values as well?

Hi Fritz Ramos. I have an M2 and I recently used a third party Apple CarPlay activation. When I open BimmerCode and try to code head unit it says:- the head unit is not at its original state. Would this work resetting to its EOM factory settings and remove any fake FSC codes? I would much appreciate it if anyone would let me know or have trained this before. Thanks!
Hi, so i tried flashing bmw m4 with gts transmission mode by mhd and it failed midway. Now my car starts but will not shift. Im getting transmission and chassis stabilization errors. Will this reset work for this issue? I’ve also tried flashing back to stock and the same thing
@@tupacsmalls5519 yes. The problem was that I used the wireless ob2 for MHD. Thats not a good device to use as the flash can fail. Ethernet cable is best. I’ve been using that with no issue.
