Hi. I hope you get this message. I have a 13 handicap and have tried every bloody way to swing a golf club. Today, after watching many of your videos, I closed the face, pushed my hands forward to square the face, rotated my legs hard keeping my hands ahead of the ball and shot my best ever score, 75. I had one 3 putt and a couple of rubbish chips but apart from that was pretty much perfect. So thanks.
Playing golf for 3 years and nobody I've listened to explains the whys and wherefores of shaft lean on impact like you do in this video that happened upon my feed. Thanks so much. Subscribed.
@@Dstgolf I would like to see these lines. Perhaps as an option when someone orders a set direct from the manufacturer like selecting shaft or grip? Really enjoy your videos and I am trying to put into practice your wisdom:)
Jaezon, thanks for commenting. Quick question, would you like to see Impact Lines adopted into main stream golf club production? Would you find that helpful?
You can still decide the trajectory you hit your wedge based on the ball position within your stance. So, you can easily hit a high wedge shot by moving the ball position forwards. The reason for having the club trailing an extension of your lead arm is to maintain control over the club until after you've made contact with the ball. Otherwise you're flipping at the ball with limited control, which is not a consistent move.
I agree. It’s all abt hands forward and I grew up using the Tour Striker which was the only thing that taught me how to create lag. That being said, I have a keen interest in the DST training club just to keep things sharp but then you talk abt alignment lines, s a bit confused. Should I still get the training tool or is the tool to be used in combination w the lines. Also, are lines simply drawn w a sharpie near the hosel or is it some kind of product?
The DST Compressor training club is a club that physically forces you to locate the forward handle position and club face orientation due to the curved shape of the shaft. The DST Impact Line on conventional clubs or on our DST CR-10 clubs are the Impact Line alone (with a straight shaft), they simply help remind the player of the forward handle position, and de-lofted square club face that produce a lag impact. A sharpie drawn on the hosel is very difficult to draw at the correct angle and it gets washed away in wet grass.
One problem the club doesn't rotate around the point where the hands join on the grip. that idea is a main reason golfers flip, you have it backwards if you think that the club rotates around that grip point you have pointed out the very reason that golfers flip. The clubs point of rotation changes constantly during the swing and at times isn't on the club! The pros are not rotating the club around that grip point that's why the have good impact alignments. They don't even need to know this intellectually but what they do in their swings is totally different then Hackers! It's called physics and you need to understand this otherwise you come to incorrect conclusions! What you see on 2d video and what actually takes place in 3d and the forces and torques applied are very different, you need to speak to Michael Jacobs or get his books or ask Prof Steven Nesbit about this!
You are confusing force vectors with physical pressure points. I agree that the force vectors are sometimes not on the club handle where indicted. But the physical point on the handle around which the lead hand and trail hand apply their pressure points are exactly where I indicated in the video.
@@Dstgolf Except that isn't the clubs point of rotation which you said it was! If your hands push and pull on that point where you said is the point of rotation of the club you get exactly what hackers do...i.e. flip at impact and if you do what you say you get handle dragging. You got a problem all because your theory starts with a incorrect assumption of where the point of rotation of the club is, by the way force vectors are straight line and rotation is angular...so you got that also incorrect!
Interesting. Now it appears you are putting words into my video that aren’t there! I didn’t mention pushing and pulling at all. I stated that we hold the club above and below the point of rotation on the handle. We essentially stabilise the handle at both points “if” full extension is reached after instead of before impact. If we reach full extension prior to impact then it’s subjected to club stall, after which reverse torque moves the butt end of the handle away from the stabilising pad of the lead hand. Reducing control over the handle that the lead hand provides. Regarding your incomplete explanation of a handle drag, it is only a handle drag if the arms and hands work independently of the body. The handle being towed through impact correctly through weight favouring the lead side with good pelvic and torso rotation means the arms and hands don’t stall out. This is a desirable Lag Impact, so should not be referred to as “handle dragging”!
@@Dstgolf How do you think you move the club if there's no pushing or pulling on it? Just the fact that one hand is below the coupling point of the hands on the grip and a hacker pushes on that trail hand that's lower on the grip with more force you got a flip... that's why that point of the hands on the grip is not a place to use as a point of rotation of the club. By the way a golf club is seeking alignment and speeding up and that slows down the hands in a good swing you want to happen, plus the shaft is deflecting where the club head is ahead of the shaft, no Tour golfer is putting more pressure on the lower hand then the lead hand of the coupling point of the hands on the grip...hackers are for whatever the reason...plus the compressor club is bent in the exact opposite direction that a real golf club deflects nearing impact, it won't matter as the cg of the club is still trying to line up and a hacker will still impart to much pressure on the lower hand against the grip. Other then that ....meh!
@@jaydubeck3435 ..meh? ..in order for both of you to communicate clearly you would have to initially agree on basic definitions. You Jay are trying to convey a complicated concept through words alone when your word usage is lacking…..so don’t do it, it’s a waste of time. The essential point in this video is 100% correct, ie. Hands forward at impact. Trying to argue beyond that is futile even if you were correct or if both of you are correct or if you are wrong and the other guy is correct, totally futile just like myself trying to explain this to you haha
Looks Staged to me! ..........Besides People just don't care about impact, other wise you would see time and time again people practicing impact position at ranges thru out, but they don't!
A genuine lesson. With regards to golfers not practising their impact position, perhaps they should! The reason why golfers tend to plateau after a few years is because they can only get so good with a flip impact, in other words they’re not in control of the handle when they make contact with the ball. Our research shows that almost all club golfers flip. So, like it says at the end of the video, it’s not the clubs that matter but how you use them that counts!
I agree that if people are not working on impact position, they should! I am not a great golfer, but I am aware of the concept presented in this video,; a few times each round I actually achieve this position on my shots, and it is impossible to not feel the difference in the strike and to see the improved result. Look at any slow motion face on videos of any pro on any tour and it is obvious that their impact is better than club players. I work on impact, or at least try to, in all my range sessions, but I have no idea how you as a casual observer might know what I was or was not working on. I suspect a lot of people whacking away on any range have no idea about impact position, but if they were in any way serious about improving their game, they would reconsider what they are trying to accomplish. And without doubt, all golf instructional videos are “contrived” or “staged”. How else is it possible to make a specific point within a reasonably concise time frame. It’s just choosing a form of presentation to get the message across, to avoid rambling to interminable lengths, like too many such videos do.
This worked for me, I came across it two years ago. No BS I can hit the ball further and way more accurate…I went from shooting 90s to shooting 77-80 on average….I’m 50yo

Sorry for the slow response, yes we should be getting re-stocked in the US shortly.
The secret to Golf. Impact position and club face control. Players should be practicing this on the range or at home in the back yard.
