Putting obsidian in mid-tier is a crime. It may not be GOAT for everyone, but literally every single feature any other text-based notes app has, obsidian also has. The only people saying it’s too complicated are the people *making* it complicated. I use maybe 3 community plugins and have a vault with well over a thousand notes in it, because I only download plugins that solve a problem I actively have, rather than seeking out plugins to change my workflow when there’s not an existing issue. Vanilla obsidian is *extremely* simple to use and only get complex when you try and use every popular plugin on the market. It may not be a GOAT for everyone, it really falls short if you have any desire to do hand writing, but for me, typing is far faster, far more legible, and you don’t have to rely on shoddy OCR to make things fully searchable and allow the software to make your notes more accessible. Handwritten notes will always be inherently limited in many of these ways. Obsidian is absolutely at *least* excellent, and if you compare it to other *text based* notes apps, which is what it competes with anyways, it’s easily GOAT tier
Team Obsidian here! It really works as a second brain. I´d recommend it for those writing a thesis as it has many ways to retrieve information from other notes.
When I import any PDF (with light watermark) in Samsung Notes, the Watermark density becomes 100% and on the topmost layer, then It's cant be read, Any Solution please🙏
I loved Notion but now I’m supposedly full and I can’t add anymore to my notes so I’m pissed! Had I known they’d limit me like that I wouldn’t have used them to start a couple years ago. For me I’m only using my iPhone 14 because my job is busy enough even an iPad gets in the way so I need something secure, sophisticated like Notion with the ability to create multiple organized pages in their calendar format, toggle feature is now a must have for the way my brain memorizes plus it cleans up busy pages and yet I wish it also had a writing feature and better video content storage. Notion stopped allowing videos to play on the pages which was a major bummer for how helpful and fast it made referencing info I need but notions plans are ridiculous with their cheapest option being $8 monthly… not worth it
This is one of the major reasons why I only use Notion for active project management and stuff like that. My entire Notes archive is either on Apple Notes else on Simplenote in order to save space as to be honest I don’t really wanna pay a subscription fee for this purpose 👀
I mean, it’s just markdown and some html, if you are a developer or you are related to programming it should be natural for you, if not, I don’t think is really worth it
The key to using obsidian is understanding that it’s *just* plain text files, with an editor that’s highly integrated with your notes repository. That’s it. That’s all you need to use obsidian, along with some *very* basic understanding of what markdown is. Go watch a tutorial on markdown, not obsidian but plain generic markdown. Once done, you’ll be able to use obsidian. Learning a few basic obsidian specific features like links, you’ll be ready to start using it. Obsidian offers *so many* extra features, but none of them are required for taking notes, and as someone with around 1200 files in his vault, most of them aren’t even useful for most people. Plugins are *almost universally* niche tools that aren’t necessary unless your specific workflow needs them. Taking notes is simply writing in a markdown file. Once you’re comfy and writing things in markdown within your vault, start exploring the different plugins available, both official and community plugins. None of them are necessary, but can add to your workflow. Spend a month taking your notes however feels natural and you’ll get a really good feel for what you want to improve the functionality with, and there’s almost always a plugin that’ll solve your problem. One example of using the app and then later finding plugins to improve your experience is the advanced tables plugin. Markdown can do tables out of the box, and you’ll likely not use them often anyways. If you find yourself using them a ton and wish they were a little more convenient to use, *then* go get the advanced tables plugin and see if it meaningfully improves your workflow. Delete it if it doesn’t. This is how I choose when to add plugins, and it works great. It’s hit the point that I manage my huge vault with no more than like 5 plugins and a custom theme. With an app like obsidian, less is more.
Bro can you tell me how to enable split screen for apps which don't support it in samsung s9 tabs.. Particularly marrow app does not allow it there. How to fix it pls tell..
Dude, your 4 out of 5 ranks are GOAT, Excellent, Superb and Reliable; 5th being Specialized. I would like to enrich your vocabulary with words like Mediocre, Trash, Boolshit. BTW, I would put Evernote to the last cathegory with their recent pricing policy change.
I'm putting this in the "reliable" category because it bugs out, crashes, doesn't work on ipad, etc... Next: I'm putting a note-taking app that ONLY works on ios into the "superb" and not "specialized" category. Dude, you decided the category names! Why have them if you're going to just toss them into the air-lock for immediate jettison? Haha seriously though, thank you for sharing your analysis. Lots of good insight and info here.
it pretty accurate, just that there was no mention of AI impacting anything makes me think if it really is useful in the long run like samsung and apple notes have AI features now and you didnt mention them at all. Personally i dont have the required devices to test them myself so i dont know if AI can help or its just a gimmick.
Yes i use noteshelf 3 and it is best app for notes making With simple organised UI,stylus support with palm rejection, handwriting recognition, separate zoomed display for easy writing, etc
Please suggest me. I need a productive note making tab. With 5g support, Which one should i choose Redmi pad pro or Samsung S9 fe... Is there any big difference in both or negligible....

I have showcased the apps more on my other note taking apps videos. This video was only about ranking them, and me explaining why they deserve that position 👀
Try noteshelf 3 After searching so many apps i Finally came to noteshelf 3 and it is best app with features like handwriting recognition, separately zoom for easy writing, stylus support with strict palm rejection, easy and organised
3 major problems of Notions :
1. Sometimes it takes time.
2. No feature of handwritten/drawing stuffs.
3. Requires internet connection
Love the way he keeps his old phone in the hand the entire video 😂

@@jecabarbosa76 absolutely hard agree. I anticipate it being an enormous boon when I go into grad school, let alone as I pursue my PHD afterwards

Team Obsidian!! Also, the production value is so high; I was laughing the whole time. Fabulous tier list!
If it's not cross platform then it's not GOAT for me.
Nebo seems good for me as I can synchronize notes and PDFs between iPad, windows, and Android easily
Freenotes for ipad is better than lots of paid apps
Ikrrr… no one talks about this much.. Idk why.
@@reynoldclare7981 free apps promotion isn’t that worthy
It's game changer
It's super goat.
Men of culture.. We are the apk mod guys who finally found free notes...
