Sam Markle He was slightly technically better than Peter but technically inferior to Eric Singer but they are all inferior to Anton Fig who was in Kiss for a day. Anton was the best drummer Kiss never had for some reason but his playing with Ace is mind blowing. He was too good for Kiss.
ANGELCYNN MODIGNES You may be a Kiss fan but you are clearly not a drummer. Eric Carr was not a technical drummer. Fig takes them all with clear distance. Regardless of your emotion then Singer with Criss and Carr together. I have to give Peter credit for coming up with the parts.
I dont even say Eric Carr was their best because he sadly passed away, I genuinely believe it, granted when Peter Criss really wanted to he could play, and Eric Singer isn’t bad at all, he’s actually a fantastic drunmer, but Eric Carr had that 80s heavy metal swagger about him, he had authority when playing those drums, and you feel every beat.
My God... His face is so perfect. The rage with which he strikes the drums. His voice is aggressive, but also sweet. His thick, curly hair, like a lion's mane, moves in such a sensual way... His hot outfit... I am just dying... Just a great person! Rest in peace, foxy! 🦊❤
I met Eric Carr in Adelaide, November 18,1980 at the Kiss concert. The band was going past fans waiting on the stairs on the way to the stage. One hell of a nice, sweet guy and (INCREDIBALLY FUNNY)!!! Cracked lots of jokes in the 5-10 minutes that I (& others) spoke to him. The band then moved on, but he stayed a few seconds longer, talked about music and all the instruments he could play: Drums, Bass & even guitar. Called all his fans by one name (including me) - "Dude"!!! God bless him!!! Miss the guy so much!!! He didn't deserve what was handed to him: Cancer!!! R.I.P. Eric!!! You will never be forgotten. ERIC CARR WAS THE BEST!!!
Eric Carr was a gifted musician with a smile that was so big it made you smile. He was the best drummer that Kiss ever had and was a kind and caring person.
I guess everyone's entitled to their opinion but playing more fills isn't better. Kiss means (Keep it simple stupid) and singing, come on dude. it's Peter all the way.
Ace is great, no doubt, but Kulick is f***ing brilliant. Thayer is good, so was Vincent and St.John, but the best guitarists Kiss ever had was Ace and Kulick.
SilverTounge85...if you want a very fast and very technical guitarist then sure Kulick was that and then some. But nobody can or ever will replicate the staggering sounds Ace wrung out of his Les Pauls. Ace's distinctive playing puts him in a category only a very few guitarists are in. When you hear a lick or riff, a solo, you 'know' it is Ace. His ability to use his vibrato was and remain in part mind blowing. His distinctive hard picking is staggering, he was tapping before EVH, only he used a pick not his fingers. But Ace played with swagger, he bled through his guitars. Kulick filled a gap for the times, but Ace will forever be known as 'KISS's guitarist'. That is just a fact. You do not see Kulick nor any other former or the current kabuki clown Tommeee recognised by their musical peers as truly iconic greats. Kulick yes has respect, in fact I'd argue he is very under rated and does not get the credit he deserves. He just aint in Ace's league. There will be, as it has been said and will forever remain said 'only one true Spaceman'. Paul 'Ace' Daniel Frehley.
I believe Eric Carr saved Kiss his influence brought the band back to a hard rock sound. Got to see him twice with Kiss and he was an animal behind that giant drum kit.
Everyone speculates on Vinnie Vincent saving KISS, but the first *actual* save came from Paul Charles Caravello! If Criss did not exeunt in disgrace, Eric Carr would never have stepped in and propelled KISS into the raging double-kick, big-hair 80s. Criss could never have handled the competition of the metallic 80s. KISS would have died a horrifying death.
Ugh Vinny I felt was the worst of the group! In order for me is Ace, Bruce (but by close margin, Ace winning just cause he was the original), Mark, Tommy and Vinny tied. Hell I’d put Bob Kulic in right after Bruce cause he did the Creatures of the Night album cause Ace wasn’t showing up.

The problem peter criss drumming can't adapt to the songs just like this one. That's why Eric Carr put added some flavors on it. That's is why Eric Carr is the greatest drummer they have. Only Singer can closely match his skills but it is not enough to top Carr's drumming.
Kimindigo what the fuck is “grew”? Peter was sloppy as shit and his timing was inconsistent. Eric was powerful and technical. And he had the voice to back it up too. Peter wasn’t half the drummer Eric was. Shit, even Eric Singer is better than Peter.
I was 12 when I bought my first KISS album in 1977 - Peter was god! I started playing the drums because of Peter Criss - When Eric Carr first took over the drums I was pissed! Until I heard Eric play.... by far he outplays Peter, Eric is a real rock drummer, Peter is not. Now, for those early KISS records Peter was perfect and his style unique and I still love those drums better than any others. But in no way is Peter even close to the skills of Eric Carr or Singer for that matter. KISS took those old songs and kicked the tempo up and it made some upset, but guess what? The tempo you hear in concerts was what the original recordings were supposed to be, but Peter didn't want to play that fast. Notice I have not said Eric is a better drummer or that Peter is the better drummer - they were different drummers - Eric could outplay Peter meaning, speed and sheer power and yes emotions for the albums he was the drummer for. Peter was unmatched by either Eric on the original albums he played on. Different vibes, different styles... KISS fans should stop comparing the 3 drummers and just be glad that our band was lucky enough to have 3 great drummers!

Other 80's drummers we also lost, Randy Castillo, Frankie Banali RIP guys. Hopefully we will meet on the other side!
The Heart of Thunder! The best drumer of the history of Kiss
Thanks for your vocal and nonvocal instruments, Eric. Missed.
RIP Eric Carr. One of the three best drummers the world has ever had.
And the other 2 would be ? My guess would be Phil Collins, Neil Pert.
God , I remember the day that Tabatha Soren came on MTV, back when they actually played music videos and said that kiss drummer Eric Carr lost his life to cancer. I was lost had no idea how great he was till he was gone !!! I was to far wrapped up in living in the past wishing that the original members would somehow get it together once more. We are so lucky that they did get together one last time. Eric Carr was the greatest drummer kiss ever had. Peter Criss was the catman a different kind of drummer than both Eric's he was really a jazz drummer that helped make kiss. All four original members made kiss. R.I.P. fox
And to think that Eric had less than 3 weeks to learn the material before Kiss embarked on their 1st tour with him ! Excellent drummer
Eric was amazing. I just can't stop watching him play
Never can get over how good Eric was and his energy
Great KISS lineup, best non-makeup tour. Eric Carr was a f**king beast on the drums! RIP
Really enjoy watching a left handed person like Eric playing the drums right handed and banging the hell out of them, truly missed never forgotten
I love Peter Criss's drumming style back from the 70's. But I always respected Eric Carr; he was awesome.
I know people have a lot of love for the original lineup, but I still feel KISS were at their best live in concert on the Hot In The Shade Tour with Eric Carr and Bruce Kulick and then the Revenge tour with Kulick and Eric Singer.
Eric was the best drummer of all time, and a legendary singer, R.I.P. Eric Carr
ericcarr 2 ,They don't make them like him anymore. He was an original and the best, period!
Paul Stanley was really good looking with that great long black hair. I've always loved Eric Carr as a drummer!! So sad, he died so young at 41 in '91.
Paul Stanley's simply one of the best composers ever!
best kiss drummer
So sad this was his final tour 😞
