    Home base for Camp Liberty is Mountain View Ranch located in beautiful Southern Oregon. Camp Liberty is not your regular travel trailer or RV camper! This is our second sheep camp. Camp Liberty always gets strange looks while on the road. We get many inquiries for a camp tour whenever we pull into a camp site or pull in to fuel up Big Red, our Ford F-350 tow vehicle.
    Camp Liberty is an ultra-comfortable and completely self-contained four-season modern travel trailer modeled after the old nomadic sheep camps or range camps that were used in the sheep, cattle ranching and agriculture industries. These camps are roomy, rugged and super comfortable. While built to withstand the rigors of off-road travel in a rugged ranching environment, they are equally comfortable out on the open road.
    These camps are hand-built by Peak Mountain Camps located in Spring City, Utah. The camps are fully self-contained with true four-season off-grid capabilities to keep you comfortable under all conditions. Full four-season comfort includes robust insulation, a forced air propane fired gas furnace, a wood burning stove to keep you warm when it gets cold and an air conditioner to keep you cool when the temperature soars. Lighting includes AC/DC LED and a propane gas lamp. Off-grid power is provided by a set of solar panels connected to a solar charge controller and a deep-cycle battery bank. Systems redundancy keep these camps operational and comfortable in harsh environments. This is the ideal travel trailer for both open highways and off-road adventures.
    If you are interested in a camp like Camp Liberty, the awesome guys at Peak Range Camps located in the beautiful mountains of Utah will make you a customized range camp that you will treasure for generations! Call and ask for Weston Wheeler, he built Camp Liberty.

    Best installation instructions. I'm usually pretty good at figuring out instructions and diagrams, but whoever wrote this manual didn't know how to think as a regular Joe. Especially, not telling you the flexibility of measurement based on your project. I wasted so much time until I came upon your video. Took me not even 2 min to install after watching it...thank you! 👏

    In my case I didn't need the mounts. The ones that came with the struts worked fine. I followed the measurements in the instructions and at first had to move the "catch bracket" that keeps the door closed while in transit (they were on both sides, right in the way of course). After I did two, I realized I could keep the catch bracket and just mount the round mount just above it and it worked fine. I had smaller cabinets in our bedroom, just barely 8" tall, but the brackets "just fit" so it was a win all around. Thanks USNERDOC for the video!

    Nice job! Looks like you have an Airstream... we do too and the overhead cabinet in the bathroom will soon be upgraded based on your video. Another thing we did was install 6X9" mirror sheets (plastic lightweight with self-adhesive backing) on the inside of our overhead kitchen and bath cabinets for shorter folks to see what's in the cabinet.

    Thanks for the video... actually using this method to mount a chalk board over the space where our micro wave used to be before we remodeled our kitchen and mounted new microwave over our stove. Being a long time travel trailer owner I am thinking you must have taken some towels out of cabinet that kept your glasses from bouncing around and breaking while in transit. Thanks for video it sure helped.

    Great video. I had a question. I want to open the door of a battery box, so the door opens upward and is perpendicular to the floor, parallel to the wall. I will be using a piano hinge for the top. Would I need the grey hinges that you had, or would the piano hinges and these gas struts suffice in keeping the door open?

    • @USNERDOC

    Does it make a difference what size gas struts you get because I’m building cabinets that are 16” high? Thanks for any information.

    • @USNERDOC
      @USNERDOC  3 года назад

      Size does matter in this case! You want to pick a strut that is sized for the weight of your cabinet door. Most strut companies have guidelines to help with your selection.

  • @cubul32
    @cubul32 3 года назад +1

    What's your take on 1 vs 2 struts? I'm building something with horizontal doors (vs your vertical) and they're a bit heavier (say 20 x 30 inch 5/8 baltic birch with 4 inch of latex foam on top, so a few lbs extra). The hinges are strong, just not sure if the strut won't introduce some weird torque.

    • @USNERDOC
      @USNERDOC  3 года назад

      I think it really depends on the weight of the door and the lift capacity of the strut. You might benefit from two struts.

    • @USNERDOC
      @USNERDOC  3 года назад

      Great question! Yes the cabinet doors stay closed while on the road. We have never had the doors open and spill contents while traveling. I think the struts have been helpful for that as well.

  • @lucklassen

    Hi, great video. Thanks for sharing. Just curious about the strenght of the struts you had for those smaller doors. You installed 100n force? Isn't that really stiff? I just purchased some 50N struts for some kitchen cabinet doors (lifting upwards) and the strut is so stiff, I can't imagine how much force you would need to push the door down again to close it? I'm sure there is something I don't quite understand here...

    • @USNERDOC
      @USNERDOC  3 года назад

      The struts work perfectly. Very little force to open and close the cabinet doors and the doors stay open without difficulty.

    • @alexcorona
      @alexcorona 2 года назад

      I installed a pair of 100n(s) on a single door and I have no issue opening/closing.
