As I see in comments a person had difficulty had to drill more holes in less you are mechanically inclined. This may not be the video for you. I am and I will give this a try thank you.
Where did you find the lower clamp with only the 2 screws? All I can find are round connectors with 3 screws and my frame is too narrow for 3 screws. Thank you for the great video!
If you have existing struts then yes you can use this to replace them. However, hinges are there to keep the door in a fixed place during opening and closing.
i am sorry to hear that. I have done this multiple times and never had an issue. Will you please share what went wrong. I had others share that they did not do it from the top but the bottom or started in the middleof the opening. Thanks.
Thanks for your input .. the strut can be installed in any direction. Pick a direction that works for your installation. Don't make it harder than what it should be.
Tim great question. It really depends on 2 things; the weight of the door you are trying to lift and opening height in this case. When you buy gas struts they have a pressure setting along with a weght it will lift. Now since the stuff is made in china (most of them), i go for larger pressure knowing that in time it will go down. My doors maybe weight 3 lbs but the struts i bought lift 18lbs. Second and more important is the height of the opening. My cabinet doors were 9in opening and if you look on this link; www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0156P6YVC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1&fpw=alm and look for compressed length. This compressed length must be smaller than your opening. This is the most important measurement.
Not good advice... easy to mount wrong if you don't follow mfr.'s instructions. Viewers: please read instructions or you may be putting unneeded extra screw holes in your cabinets.
Thank you! So simple, yet so brilliant. Doing it right now.
Best video I have seen on these! Thanks!
nice and simple, best video Ive seen on you tube on the topic!
Thank you. TOM
Tom you are welcome ... trust me I know what you are talking about ... i watched many of those videos and was very confused at the end.

Mount them at too steep of an angle (too far down on the door rather than near the top edge) and you'll have issues.
thanks for letting me know; never would have thought to mount the shock lower. Up and out of the way!
For sure!

Can these replace the regular hinges that are already there?

Took your advice. Didn't measure. Door didn't close. now I have extra holes on my cabinet.

Great video , except struts are mounted upside down

@@gurudiy The cylinder has to be on the top to keep the strut lubed. It's on the instructions too.
How do you choose the correct length?
