  • As part of the biggest transformation of any Disney park in history, Epcot will be unified with four neighborhoods that each speak to important aspects of the world and its people: World Showcase, World Celebration, World Nature and World Discovery.

      This theme is a stirring musical expression of optimism with reverence for the past but reaching boldly toward the future. Just finished...I'm crying too. Disney nailed it as always (well almost always)

    I like how they're redesigning the Future World section to make it look like what Walt originally intended Progress City to look like if it had been built. Based on how most of what they're doing is replacing the former Innoventions area with plants, trees and grass, I suspect most if not all of that will be done by 2021 (at the same time as PLAY! and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind). Anything that doesn't get finished by then will probably be done the following year (which I suspect will be the year that the Mary Poppins attraction opens up). There were rumors at one point to build an attraction themed to Brave instead of Mary Poppins. Even though I am glad to see Mary Poppins get an attraction, I still hope we get a Brave attraction at a Disney park somewhere at sometime.

    I like that they're adding the South Pacific to Spaceship Earth, a nice touch and the people on those islands did play a role in history. I was expecting a Brazil pavilion, didn't happen but at least Mary Poppins is confirmed for the UK pavilion. Which is supercalifragilisticexpialidocious

    When bob said that he needed some help with the big announcer for world showcase we all thought it was going to be the Brazil pavillion. Didn’t we? Or just me lol

    An exciting new beautiful chapter for Epcot, I have loved Disney for many years and watched my children grow through the Disney experience. I really hope I can get back to Florida and see this when it is completed !

    None of these things have any heart and soul, just dollars and cents, and embody none of the soul of Walts hopeful futuristic city, at least the original Epcot was built on concepts, not the same characters you can experience anywhere. Greed destroyed what was great about Epcot as it destroys most things

    I'm going to miss classic EPCOT Center but this could be fantastic. I heard a rumor years ago that Disney was going to create a virtual Disneyworld/Disneyland where, through virtual reality, you could ride classic attractions that have long been closed or earlier versions of attractions. I would love to see that happen. With all these changes I would still love to see Disney bring back the original version of Journey Into Imagination or at least something closer to it than we have now.

      Look into Defunctland, whose objective is very similar. Making a digital park where all the old rides would be kept, and available to be ridden!

    One of the joys of Epcot was that not everything was tied into a damn movie. It was enough to marvel at our actual world, its cultures, their rituals and myths, as well as - of course - looking ahead to our collective future. “More Disney” sums up everything wrong with this overhaul. That and I’ll NEVER forgive them for replacing The Maelstrom with a f*cking Frozen ride.

    Unfortunately their make-over transformation of Epcot as a whole from the D23 Expo in 2019 has fallen short and will never live up to the amazing presentation that we saw at the Epcot Experience that they initially promised us was coming. I realize the COVID pandemic and their financial strains as a company are the main reasons that led to so many projects getting cut back or scrapped/cancelled entirely. But it seems like Disney World often has a trending bad habit of writing grandiose checks that they cannot afford to cash. They historically have a track record which tends to over-promise and then they end up under-delivering.

    They are totally changing the theme and direction of Epcot. I understand things need to change and be updated but to completely disregard the concept of Epcot is disappointing and heartbreaking. Bring back Tom Fitzgerald!!! They are completely removing inventions and technology from Epcot, maybe next they will take the magic out of the magic kingdom.

    No word of Figment besides a subtle mention by Chapek. It's in the World Celebration area, maybe a sign the ride will go but Figment will have a presence in the park?

    • @A_A610
      @A_A610 5 лет назад +5

      One of the big reasons I think they avoided mentioning it is because Imagination is Epcot's elephant in the room that needs to be addressed carefully. With potentially problematic projects, Disney tends to make those announcements outside of D23 so they're not faced with an angry crowd of fans (Mission Breakout was announced at Comic Con in 2016 rather than D23, probably because the Marvel fans could handle the news far better than the Disney fans that collectively lost their minds). Since the update model that features Imagination prominently is getting moved to Epcot in October, I'd expect some kind of news around then that will either give us a proper announcement, or at least indicate one is in the works.
      Given all references to the pavilion in light of the overhaul have been in the context of the original ride (e.g. the Rainbow Corridor, the original logo, using Dreamfinder again), I'd be surprised if they teased all that and then gave us something completely different than what they spent years implying.

    • @A_A610
      @A_A610 5 лет назад

      The debate hasn't been over whether the pavilion will be changed or not (it's pretty much guaranteed now, even if it hasn't been announced yet). The debate has been over what will replace the current ride, and what will happen to the characters from the original ride as a result.
      With how Imagination has been referenced both in and out of the expo, it seems highly unlikely that Disney would spend so much time teasing us with elements of the original pavilion if the planned replacement wasn't going to deliver on them. If they were planning on getting rid of Figment entirely, why bother with bringing the Rainbow Corridor to the preview center if they're just going to get rid of it?

    • @JRH-1007
      @JRH-1007 5 лет назад

      AA610 But what about an Imagination redo would be potentially problematic to announce at D23 unless they plan on giving us something completely different than what they spent years implying? If anything, it would’ve been the highlight of the entire panel for most.

    • @A_A610
      @A_A610 5 лет назад

      It's such a hot-button thing that making an announcement either way would make people lose their minds. Announce Dreamfinder is coming back, everybody goes insane; announce Figment's gone, everybody goes insane.

    • @JRH-1007
      @JRH-1007 5 лет назад

      AA610 Yes, people would’ve gone insane either way, but they would’ve gone insane in a good way if it was announced that Dreamfinder was coming back. It could’ve been the difference between everyone leaving the panel raving about it and leaving somewhat underwhelmed as most did. What company wouldn’t want wouldn’t want that kind of positive press coming out of their big convention that only happens once every two years?

    I don't really see how renaming some areas and adding a few new things (aside from the things we already knew about) is really all that different. A lot of hype for what in the end is probably going to be a pretty minimal change. The floating island thing is neat, but its likely an up charge to view the night time shows etc. from there like the current dining package, so not a big deal for the average guest.

      @@williamhearn4304 I know in the past there's been some study that with an extra park it gets in the way of their optimal family packages right now where people can get all four parks, plus a water park and disney springs into their week-long trips. Specially when some of these parks tend to already become half-day experiences, it's a better investment to keep people in those parks longer than build a whole new park.

      2:24 EPCOT has a lot more shade than Toy Storyland. 11:18 why the hell are they clapping? 14:30 the audience have problems. 24:23 little did everyone know that EPCOT Forever would actually be terrible, because of the ending. 25:57 they should’ve booed. 26:45 BOOOOOOOO!!!! #FireChapek! I’m giving the presentation a tiny plus, because Dick Van Dyke was on stage.
