@Dennis Mitchell He should know! And let's not forget Fox, the PRODUCERS of the first two Power Rangers movies! =D I can just imagine it now! The Sensational Six as Power Rangers! The third incarnation of Chuck E. began in 1994 when the showtapes were being made by The Walt Disney Company. He still had the same personality as Tux Chuck E., but an earlier version of the voice Duncan Brannan used later in this era. The Disney phase didn’t last long, and the shows were made by the entertainment part of Showbiz Pizza Time Inc., which would later be named “Department 18 Productions”.
I was a Tour Guide at Disney back then, and conducted tours of the Epcot construction site for Guests from the monorail platform. “Now THAT mound of dirt will be...” LOL After spieling about the mounds, we would play this film on several monitors on the platform. One day, a mighty wind knocked the monitor stands over, smashing a couple of them. This very angry Tour Guide Lead (me) got on the phone to Maintenance, demanding they send a tech over ASAP to fix or replace the monitors. A very calm young man said he’d send someone right over. Years later, I met that young man in person, and we’ve now been married for 32 magical years. And I still know all the words of the “We’re getting Ready” song!
EPCOT Center in its prime was a magical place. I’m a child of the 80s...getting to experience the park back then was truly an experience! From the the version of Spaceship Earth that gave us Tomorrow’s Child to the most amazing original ride Imagineers have ever created...Horizons...Future World felt like you were stepping into what could be and it felt real. Disney i hope you realize what your doing with Epcot, I beg you to revisit some of these ideas. I understand times change and Epcot does need an overhaul, but not everything should be done for income. I may just be bias because this is my favorite Disney Park, but it was never for what Disney characters were there or what disney movie was featured in that park, it was what Epcot meant and it is a shame ,being a teen, i missed most of Epcot’s best attractions. I love almost everything about Epcot. This video made me love Epcot all over again, and i can only hope someone at Disney will see this. One day I’ll be working in this park if my life goes in the direction i want it to.
In a way even I would like to see that too because A. it would make the park more interesting and exclusive and B. it would do a better job at living up to the park's original purpose . However that is easy coming from those of us who are old time guests that have visited there before and hold true the roots of the institution or based on our first visit . Bare in mind on their part that it costs money to keep those things going especially when the imagineers think ahead for the new generation of guests and first timers while still having to serve those of us who are able to visit time and time again who dwell in the past and the price of that may effect ticket admission prices in the future . I said all of that to say this . As strongly as I agree that some of the things planned for Future World for the future has even me questioning the meaning and the purpose of the park going forward sometimes if nothing ever changed there and they only added new experiences while preserving all of the past would anyone as guests past or present or future be able to continue to afford the readmission into the park in the future to revisit those past experiences ? The size of The Wonderful World of Disney is greater than what we think it is or hold it within ourselves to be especially when it comes to the Disney Theme Parks such as EPCOT .
I agree soon there will no difference between any of the four parks. All will be based on movie ip's and not anything original anymore. There are new rumors of an Indiana Jones land for Animal Kingdom...how does that fit there? Guardians belongs at the studios NOT at Epcot. Hurricane Iger is ruining it. Everything also has become what upcharge can we add and how much will rich people pay extra.
But +flutefanatic221 , The upcharges would me much worse if they were to not touch any of the original attractions and only adding new experiences . ExxonMobil has pulled out of its' sponsorship some time ago leaving the cost burden on Disney's back but none of us old timers wants to give up anything because they are so busy trying to make the whole world of Disney revolve around them especially when it comes to theme park experiences when maybe rich people act like they have a life outside of coming to the Disney Theme Parks all the time to make the Disney Theme Parks revolve only around them . Guess what ? , How about saving up for Your Next Disney Vacation for when more of these things are done and be able to absorb everything a little easier and wind up having good quality service and in due process give someone who has never visited before who Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy is their World of Disney some Disney Time and Space in the theme parks instead of coming all the time and wind up seeing things that refuels your grief for what is not available anymore and wind up giving grief to others and making other people's experiences less magical . Stop using the past to be so possessive of what you really have no control over . And even when it is the hardest thing to do even for me sometimes , " Keep Moving Forward " . - Walt Disney
Jason Honingford, it depends entirely if it fits within the themed land, Ratatouille in France showcases French cuisine in a fun way, but Guardians of the Galaxy is just ridiculous, and it’s a roller coaster as well! If it were a dark ride or simulator, there could be some hope for it to fit thematically, but they just went for a good ride that is out of place.
The narrators voice and all the scenes from rides and concept art, is so comforting. The nostalgia of when I was a kid exploring Epcot. Love these videos.
The themes of this original preview video are so inspiring and thought provoking. At the same time, I find myself depressed when I see what has become of Epcot today. Certainly the Epcot Center that opened 35 years ago is not what Walt wanted, but what we have today, is so far from the amazing concept we had in the early 80's. Horizon's giving us a possible future vs Mission Space and it's....vomit inducing meh ride. Journey into the Imagination vs the truncated annoying Figment currently running? The Living Seas vs the lame Nemo overlay of today. Why can't we be inspired vs slapped into the face with intellectual properties? Give the keys to the Tony Baxter's of the world and kick the pencil pusher accountants out of the parks.
I thought Mission Space was a good attempt at an original ride. It captured the childhood fantasy of being a part of a shuttle launch. It also features future expeditions to Mars and a real concept for a space craft. I think it is a good edition to the imagination and progress theme of EPCOT.
As an addition, I think it Mission:Space would have been fine. I've enjoyed the ride since before it had a separate Orange and Green team. However, what it replaced had a far more grand and optimistic story. M:S's obvious attempt at tying itself to the not very good Touchstone (Disney), Mission to Mars movie was its first failure. Horizons, though certainly in desperate need of updating, could and should be as timeless an attraction as Spaceship Earth has proven to be, even with it's current, weak descent. If anything, they could have leveled the decrepit Wonders of Life pavilion and plopped M:S there and retained Horizons. At minimum fix the gravity wheel in the M:S entry queue and make it spin again, as it's the only thing in that ride that recognizes that Horizon's once existed.
I got hooked on Disney because the attractions were original, thought provoking and so unlike anything you see elsewhere. Just watching this EPCOT video and seeing all of the original attractions is awe inspiring even now, 35 years on. I really hope they can produce original attractions once more but sadly it looks more like they are mirroring the sort of rubbish you see down the road at universal studios. Fingers crossed they will surprise us all :)
I truly hope that the coming makeover of Epcot over the next few years will, when concluded, result in a theme park that still at least tries to live up to the ideals and ideas of the park's original mission statement. I want to be optimistic, but I fear the days of attractions celebrating science, culture, and human achievement are gone in favor of generic thrills and character/IP-based rides that would be better fits for the Magic Kingdom or Hollywood Studios.
I'm aware (at least as far as the things that have been officially announced so far). However, I think it's possible to use IP in ways that belong in Epcot. The will to do so just needs to exist. Do I think it's likely? No.
The entire second guardians of the galaxy was about a battery that was stolen. It’s going in the old energy pavilion *ITS LITERALLY A FREEBIE. JUST HAVE THEM TRYING TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO POWER THEIR CRASH LANDED SHIP TO GET HOME. HECK YOU COULD EVEN MAKE IT A ROLLERCOASTER*
@@ktmridmcy7336No it’s really not it give off cheap science center vibes .Epcot classic attractions always showed the past and the future of the subject .Would have been better as an add on to the land pavilion .
Please upload the grand opening ceremonies from EPCOT Center. Also the opening ceremonies from each pavilion. There’s so much history the world needs to see. Thanks to the vault. Good times !!
I'm surprised Disney allowed this, completly restored, when they've been trying to convince us that Snow Queens, CGI Fish and CGI racoons, talking trees and toon rats belong there
There are lots of negative comments here about the current (sad) state of Epcot's Future World. And they are justified. Disney deserves to hear these negative comments because under their watch, they allowed Epcot to decline from its once lofty place to its current mish-mash of disjointed, often uninspiring attractions. I was there when EPCOT Center was at its height in the 80s and early 90s and it made a HUGE impression on me like no other theme park has since. Who at that time could not leave that park without feeling inspired and humming one of those great, original attraction theme songs? Sadly, those days are long gone and the EPCOT Center many of us loved isn't coming back, no matter how much we wish it could. For all its greatness, EPCOT Center simply wasn't sustainable over the long haul. What inspired us in the 80s tends to look quaint now. Technology, energy production, food science, communications, transportation, etc were all showcased in the original EPCOT Center and Disney failed to forsee that keeping the park's attractions relevant to a rapidly changing society was simply not feasible or sustainable. So... let's fondly remember the original EPCOT Center with videos like this one. It definitely makes me nostalgic for those times. But let us also demand from Disney that they honor the lofty goals and outstanding acheivements of the original EPCOT Center with the designing and building of the new Epcot 2.0 that is slowly being revealed to us. I was as cynical and depressed about the current state of Epcot as anyone, until I watched the D23 announcements about what is coming to Epcot. If you watch it, you will hear two phrases mentioned repeatedly: "Epcot will make the real fantastic and the fantasic real" and "Epcot must be timeless, relevant, family-friendly and Disney". I understand that many of us may cringe somewhat at the "Disney" part because we interpret that as meaning IP-driven attractions, something that was never in EPCOT Center's plans. But I think the overall theme of the new master plan for Epcot is revealed in those two phrases. Making the real fantastic: Spaceship Earth, Mission Space, Living Seas, Soarin', etc. Making the fantastic real: Frozen, Guardians of the Galaxy, Ratatouille, etc. This also is consistent with their other stated goal at D23: to showcase real places alongside those [fantastic] worlds that they inspired. Once I finally "got" what they were saying and I had that "a-ha" moment, it all sort of fell in place in my mind. I'm not so angry about Frozen being added to Norway when I can see that there is an overall plan and thematic purpose for it being there. And now I'm starting to get excited about Epcot's future! For the first time since '82, Disney seems to be (fingers crossed) pouring massive amounts of creative energy and dollars into the reimagining of Epcot. Of course, it's mostly just talk and teasers from Disney at this point. But stating that "this is only the tip of the iceburg for what's coming to Epcot", alongside with these other stated goals, has me surprisingly excited about it! So, time will tell. Will Epcot only get a few IP/character-based attractions plopped here and there that have nothing in common with the original attractions that are still there in some form? Or will it turn out that these new announced attractions will form just small parts of a larger whole that has a new, but consistent thematic narrative that honors the spirit and integrity of the original EPCOT Center? I, for one, am optimistic and can't wait for the next round of announcements.
The heartbreaking thing to me is realizing that when Walt died, so did his visionary, imagination and passion. Others may have wanted to finish what he started initially, but at the end of the day they're just not him. They don't care at that same level. Walt's passion for something truly unique, timeless and magical was what made his parks so whimsical and fantastical. It was in his blood, in his soul. At the end of the day, for everyone else after Walt, it's just a job. Not a passion for satiating a deeply rooted desire for growth, knowledge and learning that was a part of every fiber of Walt's being. So we can sit here and lament on the current regime's lack of vision all day, but the sad truth is it will never amount to much. They're just in it to make as much money as they can, no matter what the cost to Walt's dream.
Disney Parks, thank you for uploading this old 15-minute film about the making Epcot from the time that Epcot opened in October of 1982 (35 years ago).
Great video. It makes me miss the old Epcot. I guess back then it was EPCOT wasn’t it. I loved the old park and its attractions. It was quintessential Disney at its best. But now with all of the changes it’s not really going to be Epcot anymore. The magic that makes Epcot what it is isn’t that anymore. Now it’s just going to be another IP park. It’s not that I don’t want Epcot to grow and change. It’s supposed to grow and change. What I don’t like change for the sake of change itself. I don’t mind the addition Ratatouille. It sounds like it will fit into the World Showcase theme. What I don’t like is changing Maelstrom into Frozen. To me it takes away what World Showcase should be about. If they wanted to update Maelstrom...OK. It needed updating. If they wanted to add Frozen and leave Maelstrom alone...OK. To take away a cultural experience entirely is wrong IMHO. It’s the same with what the did with Horizons and World of Motion. Did they need updating? Yes. Did they need bulldozing? Heck no!!! And don’t get me wrong. My family and I are huge fans of Guardians of the Galaxy but that ride needs to be at Disney Studios...Period. I guess pretty soon Epcot is just going to be all Disney IP and the entire purpose behind the park will be lost. Thanks for sharing.
WOW!!!🤩🤩 I love it!!!🥰🥰 Happy anniversary, EPCOT!!!🎉🎉 I remember that day and that places about the grand opening of EPCOT Center for over 40 years ago!!! And these two lands must be "Future World" and "World Showcase" and for all 11 pavilions, including "Spaceship Earth", "CommuniCore", "The Land", "The Living Seas", "Journey Into Imagination", "Universe of Energy", "Wonders of Life", "Horizons", "World of Motion", "Odyssey Restaurant" and "World Showcase pavilions"!! And now, i see that two lands must be divided into four lands as "Neighborhoods", such as "World Celebration", "World Nature", "World Discovery" and "World Showcase" and then, it turned into all 12 pavilions, including "Spaceship Earth: Our Shared Story", "Dreamers Point", "Imagination!", "Odyssey", "The Land", "The Seas", "Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana", "Wonders of Xandar", "PLAY!", "Mission: SPACE", "Test Track" and "World Showcase pavilions"!!! And that what i saw it first, since the beginning of D23 Expo announcements in 2019 and EPCOT's 40th anniversary celebration has already begun on October 1, 2022!!! Thank you for watching this classic videos!!!😘😘
What a great video. Loved the concept of Epcot, and it's so much fun to remember back with Disney had original ideas and sweeping vision. The video reminds me of my first visit there 35 years ago and the wonder I felt at each exhibit. I missed the part in the video where they planned rip out all the creative, valuable stuff and replace it with fictional kiddie rides based on hit movies so that the park is virtually indistinguishable from any other Park, though.
Soarin doesn't have an IP attached to it. And neither does Mission: Space, Test Track, Living with the Land, Spaceship Earth, Reflections of China, O Canada, etc. I swear, they make a few attractions with IPs in them and all of the sudden, fanboys are crying RUINED FOREVER. Grow up, guys. It's not 1982 anymore. Times change.
John Quinteros You're right, times do change. And this park should ideally have grown with them. Instead it's regressed with us as we lost optimism for the future and became comfortable with accepting mediocrity. People are allowed to expect more, especially when Disney *claims* to support the parks original ideals while appearing to make decisions that are incongruous with said ideals.
outlanderfrog well in a way Guardians of the Galaxy could work with the energy theme( they could use the batteries from the movie as a center so part of the story) and as times and guest change so to must the parks and that means living in stories you know and love with today’s generation, the old ideals still hold true, but they need to adapt to get guest into the park so those ideals can actually even get to the guest.
It's cool to see behind the scenes of Disney World production. I'm curious what Epcot would have became if Walt Disney had been around to see it through.
I love videos like this. Please upload more videos like this. I love Disney history videos like their animated movies, live-action movies, but most importantly Disney Parks.
I wish they kept the World of Motion so that people can learn the history or transportation. Same way they kept Spaceship Earth which is generally the history of communication.
Old Epcot, Current Epcot, I think it's alright as it is now. And I know a lot of people are whining about how it's fallen away from its original state, and they're entitled to their opinions. I, on the other hand, still do enjoy the park as it is now. Even now, I enjoy paying a visit to the park. And if anybody doesn't like it, then they shouldn't visit the park at all.
I always loved the original EPCOT. More than the other parks. It always felt like EPCOT was the nerd park, and was for smart people. It saddens me I can never take my son to the EPCOT I experienced
It is cool how much of the music for the future attractions is ready at the point of the video. The original concept of Communicore was interesting. Too bad that it was so hard to keep up with over time. It will be interesting to see what will happen as they finish some of Hollywood Studios, and start making major changes to the front of EPCOT.
I find it funny that this has been uploaded and treated as rare but yet it has been uploaded for years. Either way it's still a nice reminder of how EPCOT used to not suck.
😮I enjoyed this attraction when took over the space area of The Walt Disney Story back in early 1981 long before the arrival of MGM now called Disney Hollywood Studios &The Animalkingdom arrived to the WDW property
I know everyone's discussing how EPCOT is changing over the years, and I really don't have anything to add to that, but... There's a seal in a living room at 13:28
I just want one new original attraction in this park when they update it for Disney World’s 50th. We’ll probably just get another frozen attraction though...
if they’re trying to put IPs into epcot for the new generation of kids, why don’t families just not go then? epcot is supposed to be unlike any other disney park. it’s supposed to be a wonder of the future. sure, add some disney stuff but not to take over the entire park.
"why don't families just not go" See and sadly that's the problem, it's a corporation where money is more important than originality and dignity. If all the parks aren't making money, Disney is gonna make changes, for better, or for worse. That's just the sad reality...
@@EPCOTFan82 They should do what they originally did. They had new original characters that appealed to families. Figment toys outsold Mickey Mouse toys at EPCOT during the early years! They should still keep the Fab 5 and other characters at EPCOT, but they should actually fit.
@@christopherthedisneydude6621 Epcot actually has a decent amount of original characters, too! Instead of dumping IP's from outside Epcot, they should grow them from within it like they did Figment.
I still miss "Veggie Veggie Fruit Fruit." RIP World of Motion and Universe of Energy. 11 months have gone by and MK Hall of Presidents is still not updated???
I wonder if people in today's standards still have dreams, drams that could change the course of time, change the future? I feel as if people lost their dreams to make a difference in the future. :/
I had no clue I shared a Birthday with the Epic EPCOT center! (I was a few years later in 1990, though) Thanks for sharing this, I dream of going back some day to relive that experience one more time!
Nah, they never built Walt's dream. He died and instead of a community of tomorrow they just turned it into a new section of Disney World. Walt's vision and knack for taking risks died with him. Roy wasn't dynamic or brave enough to take it on and the shareholders were fine with playing it safe.
I'll write in portuguese! Ok?
Happy 35th Birthday Epcot! Hope you had an awesome day on your big day back on October 1st! : ) Hope you can find old footage of Magic Kingdom, MGM Studios now Hollywood Studios Animal Kingdom even though that park isn't that quite old quite yet : ) that park was just born back in 1998 : ) maybe someday years down the road in the future animal kingdom will have a video here on youtube with old footage of when it first opened or whatever : )
What the heck? Why did the transportation area get dwindled down to test track. What about art pieced talking about hyper-loop, electric cars, Self driving cars and space travel. The habitation area is non-existent. Instead of novelties why not do mars exploration and habitats. Terra-forming. AI neural networks. The creativity of Epcot died when sponsored content took over. Give me 5 hours in blue sky development and I will fix the park.
Your know all of the original Future World pavilions all had sponsors, right? Spaceship Earth was originally sponsored by The Bell System (which became AT&T), Universe of Energy was sponsored by Exxon, Horizons was sponsored by General Electric, Imagination was sponsored by Kodak, The Land was sponsored by Kraft and the Living Seas was sponsored by United Technologies. Sponsorships bring in money to help maintain the pavilions. The sponsor companies basically see the pavilions as a marketing tool. Oh and if I remember correctly, it was GM who wanted to change the transportation pavilion as a stipulation to continue their sponsorship of the pavilion. Same with Kodak and Imagination. Unless you mean IPs... and that's a different story altogether.
Epcot was so inspiring and now it so stale. The disneyfication of Future world is really upsetting, it should be about the exploration of technology and human innovation not the latest Marvel movie. So sad!
Ehh... if you read up on what Walt Disney's ACTUAL plan was for "EPCOT", it wasn't the center that we ended up getting, but rather a community where people would live and work and everything was creepily controlled and regulated, no one would be allowed to retire, own land or vote. I'm glad that EPCOT never came to pass.
Please upload things like this video more often! I'm sure I'm not alone in saying I'd love to see more restored early Disneyland and Walt Disney World videos presented uncut like this. Great video!

MrDirkles ayyy universal has some good rides. 3 but still good
great video!! still miss horizons and world of motion ;)
and also i miss innovation (communicore)
And also, I miss the Living Seas and Wonders of Life pavilion!!!
I wish that we still had the retro things of Epcot
And it shouldn't even be considered retro - people need to learn about that stuff now more than ever!
Benjamin Thompson I want the iconic stuff of Epcot not marvel
What about Star Wars?
I truly hope that the coming makeover of Epcot over the next few years will, when concluded, result in a theme park that still at least tries to live up to the ideals and ideas of the park's original mission statement. I want to be optimistic, but I fear the days of attractions celebrating science, culture, and human achievement are gone in favor of generic thrills and character/IP-based rides that would be better fits for the Magic Kingdom or Hollywood Studios.
belloq81 Sorry to disappoint, but the new rides are basically all IP rides.
I'm aware (at least as far as the things that have been officially announced so far). However, I think it's possible to use IP in ways that belong in Epcot. The will to do so just needs to exist. Do I think it's likely? No.
The entire second guardians of the galaxy was about a battery that was stolen. It’s going in the old energy pavilion
*ITS LITERALLY A FREEBIE. JUST HAVE THEM TRYING TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO POWER THEIR CRASH LANDED SHIP TO GET HOME. HECK YOU COULD EVEN MAKE IT A ROLLERCOASTER*
belloq81 the new moana water area seems perfect for epcot tbh
@@ktmridmcy7336No it’s really not it give off cheap science center vibes .Epcot classic attractions always showed the past and the future of the subject .Would have been better as an add on to the land pavilion .
Please upload the grand opening ceremonies from EPCOT Center. Also the opening ceremonies from each pavilion. There’s so much history the world needs to see. Thanks to the vault. Good times !!
This brings back some memories of my first trip to epcot with my family. Those were good days.
Rob Ripley I mean I really didn’t like epcot when I went
Man, I sure miss the way Epcot used to be.
Disney Parks, thank you for uploading this old 15-minute film about the making Epcot from the time that Epcot opened in October of 1982 (35 years ago).
I loved this! Please upload more edutainment like this, Disney! I love seeing these old films and the history of the Disney Parks!
Sad to see most of this isn’t there anymore :(
I may be only 11 but i love Disney history mostly Epcot.
WOW!!!🤩🤩 I love it!!!🥰🥰 Happy anniversary, EPCOT!!!🎉🎉
I remember that day and that places about the grand opening of EPCOT Center for over 40 years ago!!!
R.I.P. Universe of Energy
Oh my golly do I love this. I got a little emotional. ❤️
Even though Walt is gone, he always proved disneyland/world is the happiest place on earth...
The superior epcot
Amazing film. Amazing individual & company.
What an amazing concept this place was, now nothing but an IP dumping ground. So so sad Disney.
Voiceover is the distinctive Dick Tufeld, aka Robot B-9 from Lost in Space.
Yes yes yes yes yes, please upload more like this!
Can we please get the current imagineers and the board members to watch this video a couple times before they continue to ruin Epcot???
I literally made a comment similar to yours before seeing your comment.
This comment aged poorly. Epcot is a disaster now
@@allkindsofmusic2275 you think it’s bad now? Just wait till all this garbage they’re building is done.
@@Horizons1 That is what I'm talking about
I love videos like this.
OMG! I love Epcot so so soooo much.😭💓
How have so few people viewed this? It's amazing!
There's no place like it in the world!
13:42 🔥🔥
I wish this video upload would be released on dvd as well as the walt disney story thank you for posting this 15 min video to youtube
Press F to pay respects for Epcot
I love the reversed forced perspective of the American Adventure pavilion. It's a 4 story structure made to look like a three story structure.
Better times I wish I could have seen myself.
I did not know this park was this old!!! I thought that was one of the latest one, like they were running out of idea lol
That was beautiful, I've never been able to see this in such high quality and in full. Great job recovering it!!!
😮I enjoyed this attraction when took over the space area of The Walt Disney Story back in early 1981 long before the arrival of MGM now called Disney Hollywood Studios &The Animalkingdom arrived to the WDW property
Dreams do came true
This was AWESOME!!!
I know everyone's discussing how EPCOT is changing over the years, and I really don't have anything to add to that, but...
There's a seal in a living room at 13:28
Turns out that was a real part of Horizons!
I was born too late to ever go on that ride...
i'm waiting for the day I finally get to go to Disney World.
Wow looks great too bad Disney doesn’t believe in originality anymore
I remembered they made this video and found it just now.
Thank you so much for posting this :)
...The ghost of Walt keeps Disney alive
I miss EPCOT Center :
disneyland and walt disney world rocks
I just want one new original attraction in this park when they update it for Disney World’s 50th. We’ll probably just get another frozen attraction though...
All this music gives me the warm fuzzies.
I feel like I just went on my own time machine. Anyone actually have one so I can experience true EPCOT Center? And the original Test Track?
You mean World of Motion?
if i ever get to use a time machine im going to early 90s epcot 😂
if they’re trying to put IPs into epcot for the new generation of kids, why don’t families just not go then? epcot is supposed to be unlike any other disney park. it’s supposed to be a wonder of the future. sure, add some disney stuff but not to take over the entire park.
We're gett'n ready for you!
14:45 The never built Equatorial Africa Pavilion...
Bob Chapek disliked this video.
THIS. IS. AMAZING. I LOVE IT!!!!
I want to know who this Narrator is. He has narrated all things Disney from the 60s up through the 90's
Walt would hate what you have done to EPCOT.
Karina Wright Heck, Walt probably wouldn't have even been interested in the old EPCOT center. He'd moved past theme parks.
outlanderfrog yeah he was basically forced to add Magic Kingdom to The Florida Project
Constitutionalist member I meant the Magic Kingdom Park in WDW
I love this. thank you!
Very inspirational video.
I had no clue I shared a Birthday with the Epic EPCOT center! (I was a few years later in 1990, though) Thanks for sharing this, I dream of going back some day to relive that experience one more time!
You also share a birthday with the Magic Kingdom as that opened October 1, 1971.
I would love to see some of those "imagineering" renderings! How does one get their hands or eyes on some???? @3:40
Nah, they never built Walt's dream. He died and instead of a community of tomorrow they just turned it into a new section of Disney World. Walt's vision and knack for taking risks died with him. Roy wasn't dynamic or brave enough to take it on and the shareholders were fine with playing it safe.
❤️ I enjoyed this so much!
I love EPCOT and thank you for the D23 announcements that show you're going to keep updating and looking to the future!.
13:49 can anyone tell where this shot of Walt was taken? Was this in Florida?
Please upload more stuff like this
Side note: please don't get rid of Impression de France
I'll write in portuguese! Ok?
I believe that Disney should TRIPLE DOWN on the 80's retrofuturistic, utopian, and, dare I say, "solar punk" aesthetic.
Its just sooo... cozy...
What the name of the first song that is played? "Dreams of the Future"?
what’s the song at the beginning?
I hope they upload a dream called Walt Disney world
Epcot was so inspiring and now it so stale. The disneyfication of Future world is really upsetting, it should be about the exploration of technology and human innovation not the latest Marvel movie. So sad!
Can we force the new imagineers to watch this video please?
a sneak preview of epcot center
Ugh killing horizons was like killing my childhood dream
Ehh... if you read up on what Walt Disney's ACTUAL plan was for "EPCOT", it wasn't the center that we ended up getting, but rather a community where people would live and work and everything was creepily controlled and regulated, no one would be allowed to retire, own land or vote. I'm glad that EPCOT never came to pass.
Make Epcot Great Again
MEGA?
And now it’s 85% IPs and shallow entertainment. Good Job, Disney!
