Joachim Ix, MD, is a board-certified nephrologist who cares for patients with kidney disease, including end-stage renal disease and acute renal failure as a result of underlying conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, lupus, sepsis and glomerulonephritis. He is chief of the of the Division of Nephrology and Hypertension at UC San Diego Health and leads several research projects that explore new ways to better kidney function.
Dr. Ix is dedicated to offering patient-centered care and effective treatments. He believes early diagnosis of kidney problems is important. So, patients can be given medicines at the appropriate time to prevent the consequences of kidney disease that might otherwise occur later in life.
