The exposed trail and heat is no joke. I hiked in 102 degreee temps and I was dying. Amazing job as usual.

I had a really hard time in the heat here several weeks ago. I bring way more water now than I think I will need. I've given water to two hikers as well recently.

Oh man!! That rattler was sick!! 😮 I am always afraid of running into one on trail. I enjoyed your hike with Rod! Those are some nice views along the trail. Ahh, you ran into someone else, you know! Good Times 😁

I still want (and kinda don't want) to see a mountain lion and a black bear, and get video and photos. I 'm watching Rod walk into the weeds in this video and thinking "There must be 1,000 snakes for every one that we actually see" yikes!

Thanks. I think I'll do something next week, mention who's going etc. Gonna do 4,000 feet Monday (Mission Peak twice).

Hey Mike, Have you ever hiked up El Toro in Morgan Hill, Ca? It's a short hike, but it's pretty intense. Some parts are very steep. Also, hiking in Henry Coe State Park, specifically the Hunting Hallow Entrance in Gilroy, is a great place to train for hiking Mt Whitney. Mission Peak is also a great place to train. I've done Misson Peak twice, and both times it was very crowded there.

@@jasonblundo1249 I did El Toro when I was around 13. We lived near the base. Is there an actual hike there? We just went straight up the mountain from our neighbors property haha.
I just did Mission Peak today, I do it at least once a week right now. I love that hike. Very good workout and some of the best views around. I was going to do it twice today but my right leg had an issue after my first summit. Gotta ice it up and see what's up. And ya it is a popular hike. Thanks for commenting!

Dang that snake was a chonker. Weird it didn't rattle too.
That's great you put Tina in the video lol.
Gotta say, seeing myself in a video is so weird. Thanks for not making me look like a bumbling fool. 😅
Thanks for the invite in the first place! I never expected that email earlier this year. It's really exciting to have a once in a lifetime bucket list opportunity come my way. I've been telling close family and friends for months.
I'm still looking at this as an attempt. Anything can happen so no worries or pressure to make it to the top. It should still be fun to hang out with all the killer views.

Whitney is amazing, spectacular. Glad we had some laughs that day. You, me, Jim and Matt together will be funny as hell.
The snake didn't feel threatened so didn't rattle. It was checking me out but he's probably thinking "Go ahead, make my day sucker!"
Tina is a badass, did Mt Diablo the day before this. Dang! Maybe she should come to Whitney.
