Congrats!! Nobody talks about how hard/sketchy the area between trail crest and the summit is. We summited on the 30th and that little strip was super nerve racking. You’re killer for getting through this in one day! Cheers!

Impressive! Whitney without snow is an amazing accomplishment. Summiting with all that snow is incredible! I loved your candid narrative - thanks!

I done this mountain a few times and most of the times i head tot he trailhead right after work climb it and go hime after. All have been one day push in snow and no snow. Mountaineering side and regular route. The most recent was via mountaineering route on June 20th.

Nice video. I took 2 days via the mountaineer's route later in the season with no snow. I can't imagine going that distance in one. Well done.

@@clayfostfitness hey there, couple questions for ya.
      1. What day was this video/climb?
      2. Why would you prefer to do the mountaineer route in the warmer months?
      Thank you 🙏

@@DominicMessimore this was may 7th! And it just looks more fun - plus you get to cut down on the mileage!

@@DominicMessimore Some people prefer to do the MR in snow because it permits them to blaze their own trail, and the climb up the chute is more manageable in snow than loose rocks and dirt. I choose to do it in fall after the snow has melted - it is easier to navigate the trail, I prefer to take the rocky ridge to the notch rather than the chute, and I generally dislike cold and snow. September is a perfect time for the MR.

It was the move - I’m glad I did it. That would’ve been way longer than I wanted to spend in boots, and it would’ve been over kill.
      Good luck this weekend 🤘

I went a few weeks back - so this will likely be completely different for you! But when we went it was probably close to 20° in the morning and around 40° for the high. Pretty warm in the sun when the wind was dead

I've summited several times coming from LA and sleeping overnight in Lone Pine before hiking in the morning. A couple times I've driven from LA and hiked the same day to Trail Camp and Upper Boy Scout Lake. I was not experienced with high altitude 1st time ascending to Trail Camp (12,000), which really kicked my butt, but the hike to UBSL was ok. It's ok as long as you maintain a conservative pace and stay hydrated and fueled, and take a break at altitude 12,000 ft to acclimate before the strenuous climb to the summit.
