Just got a pair of these because my ds trainers died and they do not have produce it anymore. Did my first run in them last night they felt great! I did not find any heating issues and mind you, I live in Singapore which is hot and humid all year round. Really love this shoe and excited to put more mileage on them!
Sold my NB1080 v12 and Saucony Speed 2 and really enjoy the Speed 3 at the moment. Which does the job of both previous pairs! Much more stable and suitable for daily running.
A few years ago, I was new to running and bought the new balance 1080v10, and what a great daily shoe served me very well. Recommended by you ben. Time for an update so who do i look to, only ben parkes! Nexy daily shoe sorted thank you very much!!!
Good review, totally agree, but mine have never been slippery on wet gronds, and i live in rainy Norway. All ASIC shoes are the best shoes in the marked, and for the best buy for your money.
Cheers for the review Ben! Got to stick with the Superblast by the sounds of it. Absolutely love that shoe. It’s been my do it all shoe but nearing its end at around 500k.
Thanks for the review Ben. When you review the 1080 V13, could you please compare the two, which one is more comfortable and which one is more responsive to you. And maybe to Saucony Triumph 21? Thanks :)
153 For me Infinite 5 from Under Armour. Asics Novablast 3 was a bad dream for me. From sinking in, to weak sensation in calf, Achilles, knees and even left hamstring and left gluteus..1 week was a terrible toe off. The 8th day and after I was able to feel ground more. I push myself to see whether it is all just in my mind. But no. I definitely prefer a more firm sensation. To much of my surprise it's doing a damn good job in keeping my health ok. And I wanna add I am really loving upper and overall design and know how to be built into Asics shoes. In the store they offered me Mizuno as though. Horizon, Sky , Skyrise or Wave Rider. I was looking at Asics NB4 because from the pic it looked like Cumulus 25, more firm so to say. But from the video you leave and others..although I don't see much sinking in, I don't see toe off either. (when a runner crosses over toe ..that way muscles of ass are engaged..it is like pull ups.. whole range of motion or flying aka running..short moves are simply wrong for body dynamics) Anyways I shall wait and try. But most probably I pick up those earlier Eva or Flyte Foam regular middle foams. Besides UA and Mizuno.
Hopeful for this one. I've been looking for an Asics shoe with the toebox comfort of the Noosa but the extra cushion of the Nimbus. I'll have to give it a try and see. Thanks for the review!!
With the 3 I ran 8 hours and 100km with good/excellent results (even though many people here on RUclips pseudo "personal trainers" said it wasn't good!) and I no longer had tendon problems with drop 8 unlike before I ran with a drop 12 and then the roll is excellent even if it took a little time before "taming" them because at the beginning I felt like I was hopping instead of running. This version 4 weighs a little more, but the sole seems better distributed and if they hold the road well this is a very important point.....But is the 4 really that much better than the 3? I'll try it and then I'll tell you! P.s: this is a high-performance shoe for marathons up to 100km, don't listen to the "personal trainer" guys here on RUclips who tell you that it's only good for 10km and half distances........
I think i want a pair of these , ive only had the noosa 13 and 14 in asics in last 6 years , im a clifton9 guy im slow and steady and feel okay after a run at 62 yrs old , so im thinking these will be great for my joints and feet , i just cant get any shoe i want until mine are close to worn out , plus i switch from trails to road ? Thank you and yes the wet weather slippery is not good for me cuz i feel to gingrrly around corners anyway good review
Hi Ben. I’m considering this shoe to break in and run my first full marathon in about a month. I’m coming from a Hoka Mach 5, which is really the only running shoe I’ve ever known. Do you think the Novablast 4 is a good choice for a first-time marathoner targeting a sub-4? And do I have enough time to break in something new? Would really appreciate any advice.
I'd spend more money on superblast but alas, asics removed all superblast prior to novablast 4's release. seems like they're gonna think that superblast is a competitor to novablast 4?
Love the Novablast 3, brought them back in late May and in between the end of April and beginning of August I ran 5k,10k,half marathon, full marathon,a 24hr ultra and a 100 miler ultra in them and they still have some bounce.I'm definitely staying with the Novablast but not sure the 3 or 4.
I don't see why I should spend 150 on Novablast 4 when I can get Novablast 3 or 2 still for under 100 depending on site 😂 plus the N4 is heavier. Yeah no thanks the N3 was PERFECT for me.
Just ordered my second pair of puma velocity nitro 2 after putting over 1000 kms in the first pair. At 80 pounds with a discount code I don't think there is a better daily shoe!. 👌
Best daily ever? Superblast - and it's not even close in my view. Just so comfortable and great at any speed. The novoblasts just didn't compare for me and I found the gel nimbus 25s just not as comfy as everyone said - and very hot in summer Only downsides of the Superblast? Way way too expensive and not really available in stores so have to be ordered online, which may mean several goes to get a good fit
Not sold. The fact you mentioned the dislikes and pretty much i wouldnt recommend the NB4. Might as well save up for a Superblast or fond other alternatives from other brands.
Definitely Adios Pro 3. It does everything well. It’s not the fastest shoe but anything from easy pace to race pace is simply comfortable. And price (if you can get 50dollars cheaper) is spot on for me. Retail price is maybe it’s only drawback
Got some Novablast 3s on sale a couple of weeks ago for $79 US. It's a good shoe, but a little narrow. Sounds like they made the 4 a little wider, which is a good thing for me.
Went from 10180 v12 I think to a pair of Novablast 3s, you really cannot compare the two. The comfort and confidence I have in the asics is so much higher than the 1080s.
Thank for sharing your honest review. Whenever company is saying they will use recycled materials I'm a bit skeptical about the quality and if they did not sacrifice too much of performance. Hence instead of buying nimbus I'm buing magnify from puma. You have to try it! Amazing feeling and grip for European weather😊
I love the Novablast 3s. I don't think they lack traction too badly, I've definitely run in far worse! I don't like recently how shoes in the 'everyday trainer' category are getting so expensive. I can understand dropping £200+ for carbon supershoes that will probably take your pbs down a significant amount. But £150+ for shoes that only really need to be good enough to not make you injured and hate running is hard to justify. And it's becoming the standard. Might wait til the Novablast 5s come out and try to find these at a reduced price. Running already has a problem of being an overwhelmingly middle class and consumerist sport. Not as bad as cycling is, but it's getting worse
Yes, I just paid £160 for the New Balance 1080 v13, which is just an every day shoe. It's crazy expensive now. There are always 'deals' on out going models though.. some of the Novablast v3 deals are quite good. Or have a look for the Puma's or Reebok as they represent good value.
@superfuzzydunlop I take it you've heard of Tracksmith! They are just as pretentious as Rapha used to be under Simon Mottram! 😂😂 They actually have a 1hr 24 min "advert" on youTube which literally just follows a lady as she cranks out a long run in a picturesque setting. Rapha have toned it down a bit recently, but there's clearly a market for people who think Running is some kind of existential experience that borders on religion!
Hey Ben I love this review!!!! I would love to see your opinions on the New Balance SC trainer v2! They are my new stable for daily trainers for all of my runs from easy recovery pace of 9-10 minute mile all the way to tempo and speed work at 5-7 minute mile. I think it's a great max cushion shoe for people like me who loves that softness and cushion but with high energy return and not too squishy where it feels lagging the speed. Anyways hopefully we will see your review on those
i would try the v4 once its available where im at. For now my NB3 has reached 735km (will continue using it in dry conditions), and just got myself new NB3TR last week . My NB1 has long retired, reached 761km. I felt nb3 more bouncier than nb1
You are right in what you say about Nova 4 Vs Superblast. No point in having too much overlap or most will not upgrade to the SB. The SB is exceptional, and lasting (I’m 700+ Kms in mine and still poppy). Where the Nova’s fall short, the SB picks up and takes it to the next level. Well worth the extra dollar dollar bills yo!!!
Love my Novablast 4’s! I’m currently using them with 2 pairs of Gel Nimbus 25’s, a pair of 26’s & a pair of Kinvara Pro’s! Loving my line up so far! Have a pair of Hyperion Max that I won at work to add in soon!
Best daily trainer ‘plus’ is the Endorphin Speed 3 for me. Loved the Superblast but just too expensive. Really liked the NB 3, already on my second pair but not as fun to run as the Speed 3 or the Mach 5. Shoe of the year is the Magic Speed 3 for me. Such a light, fast and responsive shoe. Every tempo of interval training has been such a joy when wearing these shoes.
Endorphin speed 3 is a nice allaround for long distances, tempodays and also easyruns. For race i will go for the metaspeedsky+ (marathon) shorter (edge+) and the vapor3. I will like to try the novablast4 (never use a version before)
I ordered these in US 11.5 and 12. I am normally a 12. Upon trying them on in the house I decided to go with the 11.5. I had a thumb width in length at the end with my heel firmly locked into the rear of the shoe. I ran up and down the hallway multiple times and it just felt right. A little clunky, but the size felt right. However, once I ran in them I regretted sizing down. I had to re-lace the shoes multiple times on my 10km run. My foot just kept shifting forward no matter how tight I did the laces, especially when going down hill. I'm going to sell the 11.5s and send the 12s back. I just didn't get enough out of the run to justify trying the 12s. The bounce disappeared after about 500 metres and then they just felt energy sapping and blocky. They also felt like they were almost bottoming out, which at a 40mm plus stack, I just don't understand. Anyway, not for me.
I have both the Novablast 3 road and the Novablast 3 TR trail. I have absolutely loved them. I don't care about the traction because I'm a fair weather runner and retreat to the treadmill in the winter!
Ben, I'm running in the Superblast and noticed the complete lack of grip in the rain. I had similar problems in the Nike Air Tempos... that I replaced with the Superblast. Is there a truer replacement for the Nike Air Tempos without having to buy a distance-limited carbon plate shoe? The superblast don't give that energy return that the Tempos did. Thanks Ben, I've been enjoying your videos for years.
The tempos are a pretty unique trainer.. personally prefer the superblast over these now, much smoother. If you like the tempos then get another pair I'd say!
Great review Ben. You're channel was recommended to me a couple months ago after securing a place in next year's London Marathon (my first one) and I've already bought one of your training plans as I'm vying for a sub-4hr time. Been a huge headache over trainer selection (my Novablast 1's had been amazing but they're dead now) and I decided to stick with Asics, so I've been waiting for a review on the 4's, or to pick up a discounted 3. Considered the Velocity Nitro 2, Glycerine 20 and Triumph 20 and really enjoyed your reviews on those, but I've taken the plunge and picked up a couple of pairs of 3's to do my training and race day after everything you've said. Can't wait to start your training plan in January and get this sub-4!!!
Welcome! The 3's will be a great choice for you, really capable shoe over all sorts of distances and speeds. How exciting you've got London coming up! All the best with your training!
I loved the Novablast 3, and when it wore out I switched to the Adidas Boston 12. I prefer the Boston 12 ~ it feels more responsive, easier to run fast in, and has better grip.
The Nimbus 25 is good to walk in but not fun to run in. Real clunker and borderline “moon boot” (to me). In this current clmate of “eco/recycled/sustainable” foams, they sure are muting the function and overall FUN in running. Hate to see ASICS go this route on a lively/fun shoe like the Novablast series.
Ben, I currently have the Nimbus 25 for my recovery shoe, Christmas is around the corner and I was torn between the superblast and Nova 3 for all other principles, now the 4 is out that’s thrown a spanner in the works 😆. With price not being an issue and with currently having the Nimbus 25, do you feel the extra money is warranted on the superblast or will the Nova 3/4 match up. Thank you in advance
A timely review since my Novablast 2s are coming to the end of their 'service life' and just this afternoon I was pondering whether to wait for the 4s, or save myself £30-40 and get the 3s. Based on your conclusions here I'll do the latter. Thank you Ben!
@@brendalogan3784 on about 400km/250 miles at the moment...they're not quite dead yet, but I like to replace before I start noticing increased impact on my shins and knees. Also as Ben mentions in the video with the 3s and 4s, the grip isn't brilliant and that's wearing away as well.
Chartreuse green is a go! My everyday shoe in the presence day is Saucony Triumph 20. Did like the Asics Nova blast 3 and had no complaints in everyday training.
For me the Novablast 3 is the greatest everyday shoe ever to be made! Had mine for more than 1200km, still good as new. I'm thinking of buying myself another Novablast 3 since I love them so much.
Love speed 3, careful on the newer releases, a few subtle changes I have noticed, one being laces, lockdown

Some are saying the NV 4 is getting more similar to the Superblast. And you are right. If that is case, I’d get the 4 in a heartbeat.
Good review, totally agree, but mine have never been slippery on wet gronds, and i live in rainy Norway. All ASIC shoes are the best shoes in the marked, and for the best buy for your money.
The LE version of the novablast 3 also have a flare and is lighter. And often heavily discounted. Got mine for 80€
Cheers for the review Ben! Got to stick with the Superblast by the sounds of it. Absolutely love that shoe. It’s been my do it all shoe but nearing its end at around 500k.
Hoka Mach 5 has been a solid choice this year! Need to try this though!
Another great shoe!
agree. got them a couple of weeks ago. done solid intervals in them, then a 45 mile ultra 10 days later! versatile. decent support.
If you thought 2 and 3 were the best, this review makes me skeptical that this is a good shoe. #1 was, and still is, the best.
Thanks! Just tried my new pair, my first speedy running shoes & took 5 seconds of a segment pb (0.5min/ mile!) 💪
Thanks for the review Ben. When you review the 1080 V13, could you please compare the two, which one is more comfortable and which one is more responsive to you. And maybe to Saucony Triumph 21? Thanks :)
If the NB4 is less responsive then the NB3 then the Triumph 21 is more responsive. Tried that one just like the 1080 v13 which felt dull and bulky.
That's the plan! Glad you liked the review.
Thanks for the review, Ben!
Love the nimbus 25 for recovery runs 🏃♂️ but me favourite and newly converted to them last month Is the addias adizero prime strung ,

Ben I’m 11.5 UK like you. Are these 30cm length like the Novablast 3? Website says 35cm but think that’s wrong.
What’s your fav shoe of all time? I’m looking at the novablast or nb 1080 v13
I'd spend more money on superblast but alas, asics removed all superblast prior to novablast 4's release. seems like they're gonna think that superblast is a competitor to novablast 4?
Every body sleeping on the EvoRide speed
Done 2 halfs in the originals triple black! (The 2's are out now I think)
That green colorway is just ridiculous. haha
What’s up with the stack height reporting change? All of the sudden they’re just saying their shoes are 10mm taller?
Does the shoes wider friendly.?
Will the these be more comfortable then gel nimbus 25 ?
A pair of Kermits!
8mm drop.....knees and hips wont be too pleased 😂😂😂😂

Superblast shoe of the year on my view
very hard to argue with that!
ASICS Superblast and the Adidas Takumi Sen 9 are my shoes of the year!!

Yes v4 is a little wider. Great bargain hunting getting some v3 for 79 dollars!
Would you have these over Hoka Mach 5? 🤔
That's a very tough question. I probably would as I like a bit more cushion, but both fantastic options.
Went from 10180 v12 I think to a pair of Novablast 3s, you really cannot compare the two.

How would you compare it to superblast?
Hey Ben I love this review!!!! I would love to see your opinions on the New Balance SC trainer v2! They are my new stable for daily trainers for all of my runs from easy recovery pace of 9-10 minute mile all the way to tempo and speed work at 5-7 minute mile. I think it's a great max cushion shoe for people like me who loves that softness and cushion but with high energy return and not too squishy where it feels lagging the speed. Yes
Men always get the cool colors 🥲
Great colour 😊 Had an Adidas pair years ago the same look - loved it 🥰
Think I’d buy a pair on looks alone 🎉
I can't wait for this one to drop (especially in that colour!!) My NB2s are almost at retirement age (my 365 day challenge is kicking their butt!!)

I have both the Novablast 3 road and the Novablast 3 TR trail. I have absolutely loved them. I don't care about the traction because I'm a fair weather runner and retreat to the treadmill in the winter!
Lmao, me as well! Cold winter and hot summer days are my weakness!
I think they make the upper a bit warm on purpose so they can sell you the se summer edition
Any thoughts on this vs. Novablast 3 as primarily a treadmill shoe? Or something entirely different that would be better? Thanks for the great video!
My best for the year is Boston 12. 1080v13 is most comfortable and good for casual as well.
Thank you Ben and Sarah for the review. Always excited to watch the content you produce. 😊
This shoe will come in wide width.
This shoe was really tight on my heels.. created hot spots less tha a mile in. Never had this problem with brooks and new balance.
I am pretty disappointed in the V3 cause the midfoot is so narrow. Hopefully its better on this new version
Yes, slightly wider on v4!
It comes in wide too. Same color ways as well thankfully
I found the Novablast 3 LE great for running through a Turkish summer. 30 degrees plus.
Is this suitable for running a full marathon? just easy pace only.
@@BenParkes Thanks very much!
The base looks a bit like the invincible 2. Is it anyway comparable? I’m desperate to get a replacement invincible 1/2. Clutching at straws now maybe!
The invincible was nearly 100g heavier (for me) it's a much bigger shoe. I went to the superblast from the invincible and much happier!
I found a Novablast 4 LE, is there a difference??
Just got the 3s, gave me metetasalgia issues on first run 😫
Love the colour but with two pairs of Superblast i cant justify buying them.
If you have Superblast with many miles left in them, then you already have the better shoe!
It comes in wide actually in the US online store.
Green for the win 🏆
I loved the Novablast 3, and when it wore out I switched to the Adidas Boston 12. I prefer the Boston 12 ~ it feels more responsive, easier to run fast in, and has better grip.
Thanks for the review. have you tried the New Balance 1080 v13s yet? I'd be curious to hear your take, as I know you liked the more polarizing V12s.
Will be using them this week.. review soon!!
Love the Metaspeed Edge+ Get on it & you are rewarded
5:02 1 star after 12 reviews for the 1080v13 lol
Yes.. they are all mad there isn’t a wide version in Europe. Will mention it when we do the 1080 review next week!
If money is no issue then go with the superblast!

I do love my NB3s. When they wear out, I'll consider the new ones
Does Asics make model with reflectors?
A timely review since my Novablast 2s are coming to the end of their 'service life' and just this afternoon I was pondering whether to wait for the 4s, or save myself £30-40 and get the 3s. Based on your conclusions here I'll do the latter. Thank you Ben!
How many miles did you get out of your V2?
@@brendalogan3784 on about 400km/250 miles at the moment...they're not quite dead yet, but I like to replace before I start noticing increased impact on my shins and knees. Also as Ben mentions in the video with the 3s and 4s, the grip isn't brilliant and that's wearing away as well.
I think that's a wise choice! Happy running!
What are your thoughts on the gel cumulus 26?
