This is great, it doesn't even feel like a lesson, its like one of my mates super cool older brothers who is just vibing in the corner noodling around with Shine on by Floyd on his beat up guitar & makes you feel like.. Man, I need to learn how to play the guitar! You really break it down well, Ive always wanted to learn this song & your lesson has really helped.. I will check other videos too on the channel.
Thanks, welcome!
Nice job on this tutorial. A lot of lessons about this (these) song(s) only focus on the lead playing and don't cover all the other guitar stuff going on.
Way to go, dude!
This is one of the best video of this kind i’ve ever seen. Without unnecessary words you are explaining the structure of the song whole guitar part with layers with starting from the guitar tone. Thank you. I will check other videos too on the channel.
Great song with distinct and interesting sounds. A nice one to learn. Thank You!
Cheers, dude.
It's a song i've messed around with for fun but never pushed because of some lilts that remained outside my box.
You've cleared up a lot of misconceptions by friends and helped me finally "get it".
Nice!
Excellent, concise, pleasant explanation of a magical guitar masterpiece - many thanks & Happy Holidays! 🎄🎅
Wonderful job and tone(s)😎👍
Definitely a favorite 😉👍
Well done 😎👍❤🖖
So brilliantly done, wish i was there!!🎉.. so much going on.
Thanks for the tutorial, liked how you broke it down
Thank you dude! I been wanting someone to explain those four notes to me forever!! I love you for this!! ;) I will be working on making me to be able to do this;)
Very Well Done! Thank You!
great lesson - thanks for posting :)
This is great. Thank you.
Happy Thirsty Thursday 12 Ft. Love Pink Floyd, great choice. ♪♫♪♫♪♫♪
Woah, what perfect timing. I've really been on a Floyd kick lately. My only disagreement is the pickup selector - I've always played this in positions 1 or 2. Great video none the less!
Awesome job.
can you do pts 6-9 next?
Best lesson 🎉
Monster lesson.
Excellent 🎉
Gilmour is the king of tones. Any chance of a lesson of "Coming Back To Life", please?
Thanks
Thank you Barry!
SWEET
At about 13:15, for the shift down low on the neck, shouldn't you be switching to the bridge pickup?
Am I the only one noticing this? The tab for the "spooky" riff (@8:02) is a bit off. You have the fingering on the 6th fret of the second string and the 8th fret of the third string. It should be the 8th fret of the FOURTH string.
Well sh*t. Yeah you are right. Error on the image. My bad, I didn't catch that during editing. The joys of youtubing:-)
I used to record parts 1- 5 with 6 -9
on cassette, later on CD
would play part 6 on bass
detune to D on E string
g
5th g
5th. G
with fingers playing the g notes
Thumb playing G
lot to it with 2 fingers playing steady
And thumb hitting GG
and this is only on G notes
What would you say the time signature is for this song?
not 100% sure, but after the freeform intro when band kicks in, then i think its 12/8 or 6/4, not sure how to figure one from teh other, but your counting in 6's or 12's for each measure.
...Going in... wish me luck (cracks knuckles)
4 min 40 sec in , just when he hits the first note. 3 ads kick in. Skip skip skip!
I'm pretty sure Gilmour doesn't use a phaser but an EHX Electric Mistress flanger.
You are probably right. Not an effect I or many folks have, so making do with what I have available to me.
Mooer makes a close copy of the Electric Mistress called the "E-Lady" Sounds good and not expensive!
Gilmour has used the Mxr phase 90 phaser for a long long time
@@jeffreyhall76 Sure, but if the premise is to play like it is in the record, I'd wager it's the flanger we are hearing in there.
@@goldenboy8167 Yes, or the Donner Jet Convolution, which is even cheaper and sounds pretty good. About $30 if memory serves.
...mixolydorian? ;>
Sounds good to me
@@12footchain ...just goofing on you bro; love your content and God bless ;>
DRIB
Ym
Talk too much for me
Thank you so much!
Dude you're pretty good, but if you want the tab from the original album, I can send it to you..... but yeah....... really nice breakdown!! I used to play that entire masterpiece way back when we had our band together......people still love it!!!!!
Would kill for that tab 🥲
Honestly it’s not that hard a song where you should need the tab. Not saying Gilmore isn’t great or that it’s a beginner song. But go old school and do a little ear training.
@@50nuccio I def agree it’s more of a personal want to play it perfectly if that makes sense
Love your channel. I’m pretty sure your chart at 8:40 is incorrect. The D and B are fretted and the G and E are open from what I remember.
Keep up the great work!
Thanks. Yeah I had that image wrong, I missed that in editing.
