    I don’t get how something so simple can taste so good. I went to America about 6 months ago and most of my breakfasts were hash brown and omelette, I loved it.

      Don'tHateMe CauseYou'reWrong same? No. Good? Maybe. There is always a difference in flavor when you use other stuff. Don’t try to convert people to vegan stuff by telling them “it taste the same”. Most people who like meat and animal products will definitely be able to tell a difference and that will turn them off more times than not. It’s okay for something to taste different as long as it’s good. You have to be honest and not be that salesperson who will say anything to get people to buy into things. Now if it just plain out taste bad, it’s a lost cause lol

      To be fair to yourself, potatoes have no business being so damn complicated to cook perfectly! I make them all the time and occasionally, you just get a crappy potato 🤷🏽‍♂️ The starch levels, hydration, and internal consistency vary from potato to potato so trying the same thing every time doesn’t even always make the perfect hash brown, and then I get pissed off and throw them out the window so kudos to you for nailing it

      Well I feel better now, I’ve been miserably failing at hahaha my entire life and just thought that for some incredibly insane reason I can roast my own homey coffee bake like a rockstar and so-so cook but the two most simple things to make hashbrowns and not burned bacon is an absolute epic failure (which is coincidentally also how I came to know I stress out my next door neighbors (no joke the fire department) with each attempt!!!!! It’s so embarrassing!!!! Although….. the uniformed firefighter….. nope nope a lady isn’t supposed to air such things publicly lol…

    WOW looks so delicious!
    I have failed countless of times with these but when the times I have successfully made some it is one of the most delicious things in food.
    And ingredients-wise it can't be more simple. I mean for breakfast bacon, hash brown and scrambled egg or eggs in any cooked form maybe besides boiled is just heaven. And this with basically only THREE ingredients, can it be more simple and cheap but still makes you full and start your day in a more perfect way.
    Often times I find the easiest dishes done right to be the most delicious.

    Edit: it’s delicious, i totally recommend. Its the perfection of hashbrowns, and if you think its too much to add oil and butter together, its not. Its the perfect combo for it to not stick and to flip it easily. I recommend using a bigger pan than the potatoes because it won’t fall out of the pan when you flip it.

    I have a slightly different method. During the fluffing process, I season with s&p, paprika (for color), clove of garlic and 2-3 tbsp of dried parsley. I use only butter (1.5 tbsp and then another 1/2 tbsp aroubd the outside after I flip) and fry 8 mins per side, uncovered to evap moisture. Serve with 2 eggs over easy on top, so when you break the yolk, it runs all over the potatoes. But I like your method because it cuts out alot of frying time.

    I have a small rechargeable fan that I got on Amazon and it works great for drying the shredded potatoes. I arrange it so it's a few inches away from the bowl of potatoes and just move them around every few minutes. They're dry as a Bone when they go in the pan of oil & butter. Your eggs look fantastic. Not dry or overdone. Perfect Bacon and two slices of toast with jam and that is a real breakfast. Thanks for the tips on time and temp.

    Thanks for this, I just tried making this for breakfast like...5 minutes ago..I had some hiccups grating the potato since I was trying so hard to not cut my hand but it came out alright for how small I made it..just a little seasoned salt and some fresh ground black pepper and this is 100 times more tasty than the local waffle house..maybe it's cause I made it myself? I notice that when you make something like this yourself that you've had at diners or other eating joints all the way to fancy sit down restaurants it seems to taste much better than when you ate it there.

    • @mingen5
      @mingen5 7 лет назад +3

      panhead1219 the skins are covered with dirt and bacteria. Even after rinsing, some will remain. Furthermore, the skin will affect the mouthfeel, and the starch will affect the taste as well as mouthfeel. Not removing the skin and destarching the potato hence makes the hashbrowns unpleasant to eat.

    • @roamingthereal4060
      @roamingthereal4060 7 лет назад +4

      This recipe takes probably 45+ minutes to achieve results I get in 10. Wash the skins, don't bother peeling. Ignore the water steps completely. You don't have to worry about your potatoes oxidizing if you work quickly, and you don't have to worry about them sticking if you use enough oil while cooking. Finally, use a potato ricer to squeeze out the water out instead of hand squeezing and towel drying. The potatoes are drier via the ricer and a whole potato takes two squeezes.. maybe 20 seconds total... this method takes probably 20 minutes just for the squeezing and toweling.. plus another recommended 10 minutes to air dry them after.
      I could make breakfast, eat, and clean the kitchen before this dude has a pan heating up on the stove.

However as I've been learning to cook I've been forcing myself to eat more onions in my food and after doing that, I've actually gotten used to onions and even like it a bit. Never knew onions tasted sweet. I suggest for many foods you don't like, to try to eat them a good couple times. You may end up getting used to it and even liking some.
