  • Edit faster in Camtasia with Rolling Edits!
After using ScreenFlow intensively for 12 years I switched to Camtasia. The first video I edited in Camtasia I needed a Rolling Edit and it wasn't there which lead to me finding a way to replicate the feature.
Luckily Camtasia's Magnetic Timeline feature added in Camtasia 2020 and used in tandem with a transparent placeholder means Camtasia users can now enjoy the benefits of Rolling Edits too.
Fast Editing: If you're up for saving time in your editing this is a must know trick!

Wonderful demo Elaine! And I’m an Final Cut Pro user. it’s still great to see Camtasia has adapted to the magnetic timeline, just like FCP

Great tip 👍😃 I use Audacity for recording audio and I wonder, how you added the “time-stamps” ind your audiofile?

I use Audio Hijack for the recording but the Markers were added in Camtasia. Camtasia supports 2 different types of Markers:
      1) Timeline Markers - these stay in the same position on the Timeline irrespective of you moving the content. Not useful for marking specific places at clip level.
      2) Clip Markers - these attach to the actual clips and stay with the clips as they are moved. Perfect for marking specific content within a clip that might change location as you edit
The Markers I added were Clip Markers and I added them to the audio clip itself. This meant after the initial edit of adding the slides and positioning them according to the Markers I was still able to move and add elements to the timeline without losing the sync between the images and the audio.
      Hope that helps!

@@ElaineGiles Thank you - it helps 😃 I know of the markers in Camtasia - and I hoped, that yours were placed automaticly by your audio editor 😉
