Saw him with Metallica Dec. 31st, 1999. We were all waiting for the end of world, as midnight rolled around during the concert, lol. Full disclosure, I wasn’t really looking forward to Kid Rock. But low and behold, he put on a better show than Metallica. It was a fantastic show.

Kid Rock needs to make some new music that sounds like it did in the late 90's and early to mid 2000's. I love all of his music, but he was better when he mix metal, southern rock, and rap. Devil Without A Cause in my opinion will always be his best CD.

I was at this show (front right side of stage. It was a brutal 11hrs of 100 degree heat. IMO Korn had the best set. They came up next after Kid Rock. The band's there were Powerman 5000, System of a Down, Kid Rock, Korn, Metallica (in that order). Still have my concert t-shirt from that day.
I saw him at music midtown around this time and was part of the craziest freagin mosh pit I’ve ever seen. I was in sandals like a dumbass and ended up walking back to the hotel barefoot. I remember finding them on the ground amongst a thousand stomping feet and some disembodied hands reached out, grabbed them and tossed them thirty yards backwards into the crowd...lol. Good times! Worth every second!

People give Kid Rock a hard time because he's huge into sampling music...yo he comes from THE DJ WORLD. Before he rapped or was famous he scratched on the turn tables search it on youtube he can scratch and spin the vinyl old school style. Mettalica gave him permission to sample this song, they always were and remain good friends.

Man I've always been a rock fan in all it's genres, I grew up on SOAD, NIN, Rage, White Stripes, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, early Disturbed, 90s alt rock and grunge, Korn, etc in the early 2000s. There was a lot of good rock from 1950- to just about 2010, there are exceptions but I would say for big kick ass well known rock bands we are in a drought. The purely metal world has good artists but I like the artists who bleed into your popular rock radio. Like I'll I hear on my "hard rock" local radio station is the Pretty Reckless and Five Finger Death Punch and Hailstorm. They aren't necessarily bad but can you really put them in them same category as SOAD, Korn, and the rest of the gang we all know and love? I'm aware you get older and is easy to say "back when I was a kid music was better" but honestly from a QUALITY perspective there is truth to it. We need a rock revival. Hardcore Metal is cool because it finds a way, it's a niche genre, but for hard rock, and standard rock and roll, with elements of the new and unique and strange we gotta have new groups. There is an audience waiting! All you kids who wanna play, listen to everything you can, pick up a cheap guitar, cheap drums, shitty secondhand instruments and get to writing and practicing. We need you. I ain't shit at music making but fuck it I'm trying myself I wanna hear the stuff I grew up listening to. It was popular...but NEVER mainstream. Outsider music.
