Same. I assumed it was a Nirvana parody when I first saw this episode years ago, but then I heard the Bush song at the gym and instantly recognized it as the inspiration for this parody.
yeah i was thinking the same. didn't expect a simpsons parody to hit so hard. i think it's especially the line "i can't believe that you're not mine" that does it for me.
It took me awhile to actually realize how much they actually changed about the original song this is based while focusing on how exactly they got Kurt's style of music video where, it's not really deep more over you have to process what's actually happening in the video itself
I love how this whole episode is just a take on how Bush “ripped off nirvana”… Even though they definitely didn’t and bush is an amazing band… but still funny lmao
I think it just does what other shows running this long do to keep the characters the age they are... Forward their life. Eventually, if it's long enough, you'll see the Simpsons spending their 18/20s in the 2000-2010s as well.
Love it. I feel old when kids today romantasoze the 90s such as I DID about the 1960s-1970s ….I tell these little home’s that say this and go=. I know. I was there.
Any relationship dilemma they have Homer has always always sided with Marge he truly loves her no matter what and that's the kind of love and fire I hope I'll always have for someone
Time and again has proven that Homer is actually a really good musician and due to his dolt-like nature nobody has acknowleged he's actually a savant. He's even created award winning art sculptures. I think the conspiracy theroy is Homer is the driving force behind the marriage and his kids creativity ... lisa is above average, Bart's schemes borderline on genius (hell his rival is a criminal mastermind and he's like 10 ... also he's good at drums) Maggie took down all of Springfields mafia with non-leathal shots! Let's be honest Marge is the one that got lucky here.
It’s usually the opposite but I think in the 90s Homer was too good for her and shouldn’t have taken her back. I know I’ll get blaster with all the horrible things Homer has done but this is probably why she keeps taking HIM back, because he took her back after she hurt him so much.
sucks how simpsons actually made the 90s what it was and here ironically we see simpsons make a 90s episode that isnt 90s at all. they shoulda at least had some homer palooza refrences
I love how it goes from romantic sadness to flipping angry love
That's Grunge for ya
That’s why it’s such a branch of rock it’s expression of multiple emotions a person can feel and the experiences of the imperfections of human nature
I love the guitar riff when he sings "I can't believe your not mine"

1. This is really lyrically strong.

its literally better than the original
Bruh it’s actually disorientating how you expect the next bar to be one sound and than it’s the opposite and then your body just fails
The Simpsons nailed the 90's, even the video is on point.
The Simpsons were a cultural cornerstone of the 90’s 😄
Of course they nailed it, the 90's was the height of The Simpsons popularity. It's one of the most iconic shows of that decade if not of all time.
This is when Homer and Marge were teens in the 70s, not the 90s. Of course they nailed the 90s :)
The homage to Nirvana and Bush was my favorite part of this episode oh and the quote “He who is tired of Weird Al is tired of life”
What makes it even better is a lot of people criticized bush for being similar to Nirvana and trying to capitalize on the grunge sound
I find myself once a week singing, "I can't believe you're not mine, Margerine."
Me
Ngl what marge did to homer is pretty horrible if you ask me
Yes he should not have taken her back, she gave him up for so little, woman moment
@@sipsimies1588 What I don’t get is they go through all that for Marge to end up as a housewife. Waste of her potential.
@@sipsimies1588 Oh no Niklas did you really took a dumb cartoon seriously?

Kurt Kurt! It's Marvin!

@@bookiwohooand this is later Simpsons. I used to watch this clip like crazy back in middle school.
I mean, its based on a gigantic hit...so it would hit. "Glycerine" by Bush. You couldn't escape it in like 1994-5.
Grampa dressed as the Nevermind baby. Homer playing to Radiohead's The Bends dummy. Marge and her fella in U2's Big Heads from the ZOO TV Tour.

This song is way better than most top 40 songs out there nowadays. :(
yeah because it's Glycerine by Bush

This is so much better then glycerin
Nah glycerine is a masterpiece

this is actually such a decent song.
Glycerine by Bush if you want a non-Simpsons version.
Back when they actually tried on the simpsons
this was way, way after the Simpsons jumped the shark
This is a pretty mediocre episode ngl. The song parodies are probably the only good thing about them.
Haha I’m glad you feel this way, personally idc about this episode either way but most Simpsons fans hate it
i wish they made the entire song...
rip kurt cobain
"Could he be singing about me."

Marge sure does come across as a terrible person in this episode.

i always thought smells like and little things and offspring self esteem song all had that same riff

Yes, I think this storyline is commonly considered to make no sense.

Homer looks like Scott pilgrim
