Had my van nicked, a few months ago, everybody and their dog knew who did it. a travellers camp just up the road.. they were that blatant, they nicked 18 vans in 2 months. Took out the engines and gearboxes. Then ( believe this or not) push the vans 20 yards from their site, then set them alight.. if you drive down the lane all you can see is burnt marks where they've torched the vans..the police know about this.. and yet nothings been done...

Retired (thank God) Police officer here. I find the current state of politicised policing in this country to be despicable and abhorrent. I also believe that the vast majority of people also hate it, yet our main politicians are completely happy with it.

I would expect the wearing of badges on uniforms would have to be sanctioned by the top brass too. All those serving under those conditions are complicit. They choose that career.

'Resisting arrest', not cooperating, abuse, any ol' BS the coppers can make up so dragging you in is 'justified'. So they are seen to do their 'job'. The police's actions needs to have very real, personal consequences for them. And, separately, that Pride badge-wearing is EXCEPTIONALLY serious and it is the female officer's thinking that needs re-educating, as it would appear she's of the opinion that that is both acceptable and more virtuous (than any other organisation...National Front badges, anyone?) and therefore allowed.

The sad part is that those officers were probably just doing what their sergeant/inspector had ordered, but every time officers make fools of themselves like this, it erodes public confidence and trust in them a little more. The result of that is fewer people willing to assist them as witnesses, or to help them out if some scrote is giving an officer a kicking.
