I was homeschooled and now I'm in college. I've gotten lots of crazy questions about being homeschooled but I loved it. One of my college professors once asked me what I owe my academic success to. I said homeschooling. Go homeschoolers! :)
How do you get into colleges? How does GPA work? What do they look at? Do you just kind of take the SAT or...? I am somewhat envious of homeschoolers so I am curious.
@@plasmawolf7960 Hello! So you get into college just the same as anyone else. There are online sites for homeschoolers to help format things like a diploma and transcript and determine a grading scale. Yes, I did have to take the SAT (AND the ACT) so I get that pain! haha. I think homeschooling is great for anyone needing/wanting a little more scheduling flexibility and for those who are self-motivated. There's something to have control of your curriculum and time that makes learning more enjoyable!
My kids are home schooled. We use an online public school course called k-12. Its the best thing i have ever done. The schools around where we live are unsafe in my opinion. Gangs and drugs, fights and kids getting killed by traffic. I know they are safe at home, and their teachers are great, and make learning fun for them
I have been homeschooled since preschool and will be homeschooled until I leave for college and I love it. It's so much better than public school from what I have heard from my friends. The socializing thing isn't a problem because where I live we have a lot of homeschool groups❤
Grace Lov same! Me and my brother are both homeschooled and we go to a few homeschool groups, and our parents own a jewelry store so we get to talk to customers!
Hypernova Needs A Chill Pill 2 I don’t know... most of the public schoolers I know always say that hanging with their friends is always the best and they wouldn’t know what they would do without them. I’ve had like three friends, and they’ve all faded away because they lost interest and don’t bother to make time for me. I lost almost all social skills, so it became 100 times harder to make friends. I got so lonely I almost went insane. It’s why I’m never going to homeschool my children if I get them. It was an awful experience, but it did keep me away from drugs, even though I already had the integrity to stay away.
@@X-Fantasia ouch man... It's different for everyone... Mabye it's cuz I'm in a church group cuz 90% of my irl friends are Christian... Homeschooling is really subjective Ya know, being at home
This is GREAT!!!!! I'm homeschooled, and you would not believe the questions I've been asked. Once I was asked, "Are you allowed to read the books you want, or does your mom pick them out for you?" (I nearly laughed when someone asked me that one.) Once someone asked me, "Where do you do your homeschool?" Snicker. :) "Uhhh, at home." Homeschooling is totally beast; I love it!
We homeschool our 4 children and love it! I get the socialization question all the time, it's ridiculous. I once read "you educate a child, you socialize your dog"-so true!
Thanks SO much for your encouragement to MOVE ON! It kept me going during the transplant wait! GOTCHA DATE was a week ago...in isolation for awhile and these comments/videos help so much with boredom! Thanks ONCE AGAIN as I am "home entertaining" myself!
Sent this on to a friend of mine who homeschools her kids (and taught my son for a while, too, until we moved). In some areas, like Hawaii, homeschooling really is the best (read: only) alternative.
"We don't get no snow days, cause we don't go nowhere" Yeah, speaking as a homeschooler from Texas, that's doubly true! Heck, even if I had gone to public school, I wouldn't have gotten snow days. At best, we have ice days...
I graduated from homeschool. :D Ahhh, all the awkward questions that people would ask me when I was little. Gonna miss that :( But now, whenever I have kids they will be homeschooled too . ;)
HomeSchoolers are simply the best hahaha when normal school begins we sit back and giggle as they all have to go back to the prison. TWO thumbs up for sleeping late(;
:) you caught it. Public school does get a lot of things right, but it also gets a lot of things wrong. Public school is the best option for most people, but not for all people. I think you summed it up nicely, "desperate kids in rough situations." If the parents from public schools cared for their children like home schooled parents do, there would be much better grades. Teachers can only do so much. The parents are the greatest factor in a child's life. Home schoolers = parents who want more
I was home schooled and just about everything he said is true. Except we (my sister and I) still got snow days since we live in an area the rarely gets snow. I'm in college now and I started a year early on my associate degree. I'm the youngest person in all of my classes. :) home schooling rocks and I will home school my kids if I have any later on.
lol im a homeschool student. since 5th the fifth grade and im a senior now. And i love it!!!! I have more friends than i can count(and only 6 of them are homeschooled) and i learned more than i did when i was private schooled. LOL. Now, what does that say? ;)
Caring parents = so much more than better grades...kids not living in meth labs, kids who aren't washing up at school because there is no water, kids who aren't eating sugar out of bag for dinner, kids who aren't left alone while mom goes to find a john, kids who aren't removed for starvation...11 yrs old weighing 65 lbs..kids who aren't beaten to death with a log by an older brother. How fortunate for those can thirve in public school with great parents and for those who can be h.s. they can't.
@kidteach1 interesting, I was homeschooled, played three sports, had many friends and hung out all the time, got straight A's through high school, met the world head on, am friends with various people of various faiths, and have remainded a strong, daily practicing Catholic through it all. I believe if you truly know Jesus nothing can make you waver.
I'm not homeschooled, but I had a bullying problem. I joined different after school activities and a youth group and the kids I gravitated to were all homeschoolers. Nothing against "normal school" people, but homeschoolers were a whole lot nicer.
Actually, yes. That's the point! :D I was homeschooled and then went to public school. There are advantages and disadvantages to both options. But honestly, I find that most public school kids aren't as well rounded as those who were given a one on one education from their parents rather than sitting in a classroom all day with 20 clowns and 9 kids who just sit quietly and try to shove all of the knowledge down their throat at once. Being homeschooled means that the kid gets a closer bond with their parent(s), the parent(s) know that the child is actually learning something worthwhile and what that is, and the parent(s) can adapt how they teach to the needs of the child! Doesn't that sound great?! :D
More like unfounded theories, anti-religious mantras, and socialist dogmas that say America's the worst nation on Earth. I don't have kids, but if I did I'd homeschool them. Public schools are mental, emotional, and spiritual poison for the vast majority of kids today - just look at how many of them enter college protesting against "micro-aggressions" and crusading for "social justice". Its lunacy, plain and simple.
