So appreciated this! I just got this model and am brand new to Instant Pot cooking - this was a great mini-tutorial. Thank you!
Great - have fun!
This is the only video that shows the quiet lid. You explained it very well. This is the best video about the appliance. Thank you.
That's so nice - thanks!
Thank you! I got this from my job as a gift and have no idea how to use it. Today I will slow cook my chicken.
So glad it was helpful. We've got a great getting started guides as well www.pressurecookingtoday.com/tag/beginners/ Have fun!
@@PressureCookingToday thank you, I'll take all help.
Thanks so much! Your video was very helpful!
Great - thanks! Have fun!
Thank you for this video! This is my first time using an instant pot and this is the model I have. is there anymore videos you would recommend me watch to learn how to use it?
We have lots of great posts for beginners on our site www.pressurecookingtoday.com/tag/beginners/
Me too 😊
Thank you❤. Was not sure about that silicone cover on the float valve. I thought it was just part of the protective packaging.
Glad it was helpful. It's a critical part of the Instant Pot.
Thank you for showing me how to use the controls.
Thank you.I’ve had my Instant Pot for about 6 months and just terrified to use it 😂I will put it to use now
Great - have fun!
omg me too
Good video. I saw a comment that the whisper quiet steam release wasn’t demonstrated. It was fully explained, so I don’t see a need for full demonstration.
Thank you!!
I was deciding to return it but your video helped me. Thanks❤
So glad it was helpful - have fun!
THANK YOU SO MUCH i couldnt figure out what was wrong with my instant pot not coming to cook and im not quite sure yet however seeing yoru video made me realize i didnt lift off the orange tab under the whisper quiet lid and it was causing water to pool up. . and possibly not come to cook
I'm glad it was helpful - thanks!
Hi I’m having this same issue and it’s not coming to cook just says preheating for more than 30 mins … I also removed the orange tab. This is my first time using this. Did yours start pressuring?
@@Jazzytee Yeah that was the issue for me. I have having the same problem as you until I took off the sticker. The sticker was preventing the steam valve from sitting up right under the sealed setting. It was tilted the whole time releasing steam even though I had the switch to not release.
I'm Thinking about buying it. I'm not sure if the 6 Qt Instant Pot Duo Plus will fit between my kitchen shelf and cupboard above it. Different sites list different measurements. How many inches tall is the 6 Qt Instant Pot Duo Plus with the lid on while cooking? Thank you for your great videos!
Thanks! It is 12.76 inches tall. Amazon lists 14.5 H but my guess is that's the box.
Can you also demonstrate the yogurt button works .... I was to boil , but somehow I am not able to set the fermentation step ..
Thanks for the clear video. I just did the water test and when it got past preheating and started the 5 mins cooking, there was continuous steam coming out the 2 vent holes on the lid the whole time. I thought it was only meant to steam at the end when released?
Correct-Steam should not come out of the steam release valve and the float valve when pressure cooking. Is the little silicone gasket on the float valve on the inside of the lid? Is the steam release valve in the sealed position?
@@PressureCookingToday aha, I have just tried again. I had forgotten to pull the orange tab out from the steam release valve! And I think the sealing ring may have been slightly loose the first time. No steam at all this time until I slid the quick release switch at the end. Thanks so much for replying!
@@BB-fo6nl I'm so glad it helped. Have fun!
Thanks for the demo. I was hoping to see the inside pot and any accessories that came with the unit.
We've used the Whisper Quiet in several cooking videos ruclips.net/video/NXVOfjsrv-o/видео.html You can see inside the pot. It comes with two sealing rings (one installed on the lid, the other in the pot) and a steam rack with handles.
Hi, this is the best review for this particular pot that I have seen. I have been using it for a while now and mine is completely black, so I cant see through the whisper quiet cover. I have a question about the whisper quiet steam valve, on several occasions, the pressure knob underneath has lifted up whilst cooking releasing steam and liquid, because I cant see it through the black cover, I have to quickly work out what it is and whip off the cover and press the pressure the knob back in to place and all is good again. However, I would like to purchase a new knob and was wondering, to your knowledge, do you know if I can just buy a standard knob or do I need a specific one for this model. I did email instant weeks ago and they haven't responded, so it would be really helpful if you could please advise me.
Me and my family love your channel and watch you very regularly, thank you both, for all of your hard work girls.
That's so nice - thanks! You can cook without the cover in place. You may be able to find replacement knobs but knobs from different models are generally not interchangeable.
Many thanks for getting back to me, I really appreciated your advice. @@PressureCookingToday
nice. is it possible to change the volume level of the chime in the WQ?
Thanks! Unfortunately, you can't adjust the volume. It's either on or off.
Great video! Would you recommend the 6 qt version or the 8 qt for people who want an Instant Pot for meal prepping?
Thanks! If you're cooking in large batches, the 8-quart might be a better choice.
Also was wondering why two silicon rings but you answered that too, will I have to put a cup of water in when I bake?
Yes, any time you use a pressure cooking function, such as bake, you have to use water for it to come to pressure.
Thank you for the review. Is there a broth cooking option?. I didint see it on the display like a regular Duo Plus
Thanks for your help😊
Is there a porridge setting on this model?
No, but you can use the pressure cook setting instead. The porridge setting is a pressure cook setting - high pressure for 6 minutes.
thank you for your videos! I'm between this one and the pro! can you help? I used to have Instant Pot Ultra, 10-in-1and it just stopped working! my only complaint with it was when I cook rice it always stick in the pot. so I was thinking about the instant pot duo plus and get a Ceramic Non-Stick Inner Pot ? thats why I did not go with the pro.
I like the Pro better because of the flat bottom and handles. I have a ceramic inner pot, but I never use it. You could try cooking rice pot in pot ruclips.net/video/N97QcwUMaGA/видео.htmlsi=J4QJyHUQgXFc466f
Mine does not allow me to change the time in pressure cook costum unless it has the lid on locked. I thought it was broken and was about to return. Thank you for this educational video.
I just got my duo plus on a Black Friday sale. I couldn’t figure out how to manually set the time. Thanks for the instructions.
Glad it was helpful. Have fun!
How much did you pay for Black Friday sale?
@@yukikaya112 I think it was 80 bucks at Macy. Its been a year so I might be wrong. I got the 6 quart version.
thank you for this video! i already own a instant pot duo evo plus and its a bit worn out. I'm thinking of buying a new IP - would you suggest whisper quiet or do i just buy IP duo evo plus? thanks
They don't make the Evo Plus any more, so you'll want to get the Pro. Then you can use the inner pot from your Evo Plus if you need to.
Does the Whisper Quiet Instant Pot Duo Plus allow Sous Vide delay start?
After setting the sous vide cooking, I pressed the Delay Start button. No green light came on.
Thank you for this video! If I do put the lid on the top rack of the dishwasher, should I remove the sealing ring first?
Glad it was helpful! Yes, remove the sealing ring and wash it on the top rack as well.
@@PressureCookingToday Thanks for the quick reply :)
I'm curious to hear if the float valve being hidden (first under the plastic cover, and then under the rubber gasket) is a safety issue. Isn't it important to see whether the float valve is up or down, so as to get a sense of whether the Instant Pot is pressurized or not?
I wouldn't consider it a safety issue since the lid will not open unless the float valve has dropped. It's more of an inconvenience if you like to know as soon as it's dropped.
@@PressureCookingToday Okay I see, thank you.
Hi, I have this model, when there is pressure in the pot the screen says Do not open lid, which you cant because it is locked, when you have released the pressure the screen then tells you that you can open the lid. :)
Does this one vent a little bit before cooking is finished or the release button is pushed?
Rarely electric pressure cookers can start getting over-pressurized and may release a little steam before the cooking has finished or the release button is pushed.
Can you show how the yogurt function works. Because its not working for our instant pot
I enjoyed your video on instructions on the 6 quart duo plus instant pot - you did show instructions on how to put the float valve rubber cover on the float valve - however, it was difficult for me to see HOW yu replaced it - the silicone float valve on the inside of the cover - I am having a difficult time replacing mine. You seemed to make it o simple, - please advise how to do this - without it on, I cannot use the pressure cooker. Thank you for a prompt response.
Thank you for this introduction. Do you know if there is a ceramic liner that would work with this model?
As far as I know, they only sell one type of ceramic inner pot and it should work with this model.
Thanks for the great review.
I was just wondering why this version only comes in 6qt??
The instant pot duo plus 8 qt is black and it looks different? Why is that.
What's the difference other than the color and size??
Thanks again??
Thanks! I haven't found much rhyme or reason why Instant Pot changes features between the models. My favorite model is the Pro and it comes in both 6 and 8 quart. It has a flat bottom and handles that don't get hot and makes the inner pot easier to remove. ruclips.net/video/HA-bwJD74yI/видео.html
Could you show how to getbthe anti-block shield off? It spins bur doesn't want to pull off. Tks
Thank you very much for your help
i love this for 2 years but I made lentil soup yesterday and I cannot open even though it is cool. Where is the valve that I can release with a tool I think I overfilled it. I found two buttons at the back that retract but I cannot figure out how to emergency open.
The float valve is hidden under a little plug on the outside of the lid. You need to remove the cover, remove the plug and push down on the float valve with a wooden spoon handle or chopstick. Remove the float valve gasket on the inside of the lid and clean the lid well.
@@PressureCookingToday thanx i got it all is well
Hi, i'm new to the pressure cooking world. Could you do a comparison video or a buying guide, please.
I mean, there are so many models out there. I'm hesitating between the pro and the duo... and now the duo plus looks nice too..

I am not new to IP's but I just got this new one today. Did the water test without a problem. Then I glanced at the manual. Under the cake setting it says you can bake a cake. Just dump everything in the pot mix, and hit the cake button and adjust time if need be. I have made cakes in my other pots (Ultra) but I always used PIP. How can you cook a cake in the liner pot ? Would you not get a burn notice. I am excited about the new lid design. Will see how it stands up against my Ultras.
You are correct, you need to cook cakes pot in pot. The manual is incorrect.
Thanking for mention that tge float value isn't accessible like other ones. Recommend showing how to clean it completely. I had to use a straw to hold it in place until I got the silicon cap on
For yogurt using pasteurized milk the manual says set time to 3 minutes, but the minimum time is 30 minutes. Any idea how to set the time to 3 minutes in the yogurt mode? Thanks
Do you know if there is a auto feature for rice cooking? They had it for the older models but not for this one.
The rice function on this model is adjustable, 12 minutes on low pressure for white rice, 30 minutes on high for brown rice. However, I rarely use the rice function. I prefer to cook my white rice for 3 minutes with a 10 minute natural pressure release www.pressurecookingtoday.com/pressure-cooker-white-rice/
@@PressureCookingToday Thanks for the reply. Do you think the time has to be adjusted based on the quantity of the rice?

I'm new to pressure cooking. I have this exact pressure cooker. I do have a question and I hope you can help me with this. When the instant pot displays the pressure cooker image, does that mean I need to release the pressure?
You're talking about the little red image on the left of the time, right? (I know it's supposed to be a puff of steam, but I've always thought it looked like broccoli 😂) I hadn't paid close attention to when it comes on and off before, so I just did a quick test run.
The red light comes on when the float valve rises, right at the end of the Preheating cycle. It stays on all through the pressure cook time, and it remains on until the float valve drops and you get the OK to open lid message. (This happens regardless off whether you do a quick release or a natural release. As soon as it's OK to open, the red light will turn off.)
Does that help? Let me know if you have more questions!

Hy, can you help me, how i use this instant pot for porrige? Because ge doesn t have this preset like on the other model? Thank you
Most all of the buttons are just preset times, so you can use the Pressure Cook button for anything you want to cook. Just set the cook time. I believe the preset time for Porridge is 20 minutes. What type of Porridge are you making?
Hello, I wanted to ask why my white rice takes sooooo long to cook. I select the white rice option and it literally takes forever to make. I can easily say we wait around 30 minutes (could be more) for the rice to be done. Please help because it's driving me crazy lol
That's one of the reasons I prefer not to use the rice function. Here's a link to our white rice video. ruclips.net/video/wkReMWiT5M8/видео.html The rice function uses low-pressure - so it takes longer to come to pressure.

Hi - sounds like you're not getting a good seal and are losing all the water. Have you done a water test? www.pressurecookingtoday.com/instant-pot-water-test/
I just got this model, however, the steam release area is different. It doesn’t have the clear plastic cover with the snaking tubes. It just has the 2 vents on the back and everything is solid plastic and you can’t see inside.
I’m having the issue of too much steam leaking out even when it’s locked for pressure cooking and thus, I get the burn notification during my 5 minute water test. Any thoughts? Maybe my unit is defective? Thank you!

I have this model and when I finished the water test and hit cancel to turn off it just said READY, never off. Is READY the same as off on this model. I was afraid to unplug it.
Yes, the default is ready. You can unplug it at any time even when it's under pressure. Unplugging it will just start the natural pressure release. ruclips.net/video/gafrMz41rpg/видео.html
When do you move the switch gray button from cooking to release
Recipes will indicate whether you'll do a quick release, release the pressure immediately when the cook time ends, or a natural pressure release, let the pressure release until the pin drops and then you switch it. Here's more info about pressure releases www.pressurecookingtoday.com/quick-pressure-release-or-natural-pressure-release/
I have the whisper quiet model. Even after I let it natural pressure release and quick release, the message on my unit no longer says "OK to open lid" even though no more pressure comes out. My food is thoroughly cooked, but no matter what (even after I reset it) my instant Pot stays on "Do not open lid". It isn't technical broken since the food cooks like when OK to open lid message appeared, but I would prefer for the correct message to appear at the right time. Any suggestions?
I've never heard someone having this problem. Probably should reach out to IP 800-828-7280
I have tried to make mac and cheese using your guidance. I have tried about 10 times. As an instapot user I have not been able to set this machine. This is ten times more complicated vs my other one. Your video was of little help. We all understand you love this machine. I need a one-two-three step - what to do.
Jump to 3:58 and it shows you how to set this machine. 1 - Press Pressure Cook, if custom is flashing, press the silver center dial to select it. 2 - the time will flash and you turn the dial to change the time and when the time is correct, push in on the center dial to select that time. 3- press the start button to start pressure cooking. Just watch the screen to see what is flashing - whatever is flashing that's what the silver dial will change. Once you get used to it, it will seem much easier. I guess yours came with a sticker on the lid? I came to see if it peels off. The one on my 3 quart didn't and I ended up with glue left behind that wouldn't come off. It ended up getting baked on lol. But since yours is gone looks like it came off ok?
I generally do not remove stickers from the Instant Pots because they're difficult to remove, so I assume IP meant for them to stay on.
I am trying to cook rice in this and it's on Preheating forever.. IS it like this, also timer doesnt reduce, If i set it with 3 mins, it is with 3 mins forever..

Why does the lid only work on the unlock side and you cannot line up with the lock side?

Can you not reach the metal pressure valve at all from under the lid? I would like to clean everything
Hi Jenn. I’m new to Instant Pot cooking. I have a vegan recipe book which I bought some time ago but didn’t get around to buying an Instant Pot 6qt. I like the pot that you presented, especially the extra safety around steam and not having metal on lid. I’m in Australia but haven’t been able to buy the Duo Plus 6qt (5.7 litre) like yours. How can I buy one? I think my BFF will want one too when she sees it. I tried Amazon here but they don’t have that model. Thankyou for an easy to follow presentation
Instant Pot has contact info for Australia on their website www.instanthome.com/shopping
Can you manually set the yogurt temperature at 100°
You could use the sous vide setting to set the temperature to 100°
How do you clean the lid? I know to clean all the pieces that come off the lid but I worry that water is getting trapped in the actual lid without completely drying off when I rinse the top and bottom of it.
The manual says "to drain water from the lid after dishwashing, grasp the lid handle and hold the lid vertically over a sink, then turn it all
the way around"
my instant pot duo just exploded 😢. I was pressuring some beef and I don't know what happened. the float value is now loose????
It sounds like you are missing the little gasket on the bottom of the float valve on the inside of the lid.
My new duo plus is stuck in preheating mode - i tried to make a chicken broccoli alfredo, and it said preheating for the longest time, and then went to burn! What do I do?
You'll need to cancel it, release the pressure and remove the contents. Then clean off anything burned on the bottom. Since it's been cooking for a long time, the chicken is probably already cooked through. In order to prevent this in the future, be sure you're using enough thin liquid to come to pressure and not mixing in a creamy sauce like alfredo.
I just finish pressuring, but now it cannot open, why is that?
You can't open it until all of the pressure is released. Either with a natural pressure release or a quick pressure release. ruclips.net/video/gafrMz41rpg/видео.html
how to cancel preheating?
To cancel any setting, you just hit the cancel button or unplug the PC. However, preheating is necessary for all nearly settings. Do you mean how to turn of the Keep Warm setting?
My pot stayed on preheating for 3 hours until I just turned it off@@PressureCookingToday
Were you using the slow cook setting? That isn't unusual for it to take a long time to get to temperature on slow cook. People often use the saute function to get it to heat up faster. @@alicequintin1628

Why do duo plus whisper have a knob and regular duo plus don’t?
They both have a knob, a steam release valve. The Whisper Quiet and many of the newer models have a cover over the steam release valve that softens the steam release.
@@PressureCookingToday all the duo plus I see have no knob just push buttons
@@orion0587 Perhaps we're talking about two different things, but a pressure cooker cannot work without a steam release valve, so all of them have them. They're just shaped differently.
@@PressureCookingToday I’m talking about the dial knob on the front of the unit
@@orion0587 the knob on the front is just a different way to select cooking options instead of pressing buttons. Instant Pot seems to add it on models with more cooking options - although I rarely use anything functions except pressure cook and saute.
La tengo y no puedo abrirla 😢
That's frustrating that it won't open. You have to wait for all the pressure to be released and then use something to push down on the float valve so it drops and you can open the lid.
When I set sauté, why do I get a message Pr SE and flashing lights??
Are you leaving the lid on while you Sauté? PrSE indicates that pressure has accumulated during a non-pressure cooking program. You will want to use the quick release vent to reduce pressure in the pot and saute without the lid on. You can use a lid from a pot and pan set if you are trying to avoid splatters.
