thanks for the review. the Walmart exclusive pot feel like a cost down version of the regular instant pot. I personally prefer the stainless steel version.
New subscriber! I received the Instant Pot as a gift and I have no idea how to use it and I also didnt know why mine look diferent, now I know is the Walmart edition! Thank you so much for you detailed explanation 👍🏻👏🏻
I think it’s unfortunate that Instant Pot has made two almost identical versions of the Rio. I’d be very upset if I purchased the “wrong” version of the Rio, i.e. not the version I thought I was purchasing. Folks already have difficulty deciding which Instant Pot they want to purchase. Why not give those two totally different names? I suppose Walmart had something to do with the decision. Nice job on the review, Jenn.
Not being able to do yogurt is a deal breaker for me as it's replacing my old 6qt IP that i lost in the divorce. It used to make a quart of yogurt twice a week. I'll take this one back. Thanks for the awesome review
Thanks! When you're used to the convenience of pressure cooking, it's hard not to have one. The Pro is my current favorite. Amazon has it on sale right now amzn.to/49gs6zk (affiliate link)
I put it on the list to film. You steam using a steamer basket and pressure cook with water underneath. Slow cook you can use a glass lid if you have one with a pots and pan set that fits or use the lid with the vent open.
After it's heated to the temperature you set, it will flash Hot for just a few seconds and then the heat will cycle on and off to maintain the proper temperature.
My Rio Chef series user manual specifically says *Instant Pot Rio Chef Series is not compatible with the stainless steel inner cooking pot. I wanted to use my stainless steel inner cooking pot because the aluminum pot that comes with the Chef Series has a lead and bisphenol A warning. I have found no explanation as to why they say you can't. Someone said they use the stainless steel with no issues. Would you know why you would not be able to?
We tested it for you! We ran the water test with the stainless pot from the Duo Nova in the Rio Chef Series. Here's the results: it beeped that it came to pressure just fine, but almost as soon as it came to pressure it started releasing pressure out of the top of the steam release valve, almost like it had too much pressure. When it finally stopped releasing pressure on its own, we did a quick release and there was a ton of pressure still in it. Finally, we tested the Rio Chef series with the stainless steel pot from the regular Rio. We thought things were going well, but in the final 30 seconds of the pressure cook time it started releasing steam from being overpressured as well. So I think it's fair to say that they cannot change up the pots without risking overpressuring.
I watched a YT video on making pet food. It says to cook for 35 minutes (which I can adjust in my Rio), then on High Pressure. I cannot adjust temperature at all. Does Pressure cook default to High pressure?
Im old school I really dont like all these air fryers instant pots etc....but I just got a gift yes, a instant rio pot lol! I was wondering what happens If the pot comes to an end and you decide to release the steam/pressure thingy (not sure whats it called) as soon the pot stops can I do that do I have to put a towel on top of the instant pot? thank you in advance😊
Yes you can release the pressure immediately and no you don’t need a towel. Just keep your face and hands away from the pot while steam is being released. You say you’re “old school” - give your Instant Pot a chance - I bet you’re going to love it. It’s truly changed the way I cook. I’m not “old school”, but I’m 82 years old!
Ayyy No! I did that And steam came out and some white stuff!! looked like foam!😖what a mess!! what happend what went wrong😟or what was that??it was so scary
@@rebeccarobles1559 when you release the pressure with things that foam, you need to do an Intermittent pressure release www.pressurecookingtoday.com/quick-pressure-release-or-natural-pressure-release/ Just close the valve if anything but steam comes out.

Which one is y’all’s favorite instant pot? I really want to get the rio wide plus but I want to get the one the does the most and idk which one that is 😂
not feeling the rio it does not get hot enough to get a decent sear to brown your meat, also can take forever to come up to temp to start pressure cooking. will be returning my unit soon.
Have you adjusted the Rio to the highest saute setting to brown meat and waited for it to say hot before searing? How long it takes to come to pressure depends on the temperature and volume of food you're cooking. We haven't found it takes longer than other models.

Thank you for the thorough information!
Can you make a video for how to steam and slow cook with this cooker, please? I brought a new one, and I am really scared to use .
I put it on the list to film. You steam using a steamer basket and pressure cook with water underneath. Slow cook you can use a glass lid if you have one with a pots and pan set that fits or use the lid with the vent open.
Can you show how tp use to high pressure setting please, for the life of me i cant figure out how to do it.
the Chef Series only cooks on high pressure, so it automatically selects high pressure.
Thankyou for this❤
I think mine doesnt work properly... After how long does it say Hot, if you push saute? Thank you so much!
After it's heated to the temperature you set, it will flash Hot for just a few seconds and then the heat will cycle on and off to maintain the proper temperature.
Can the Instant Pot Rio Chef cook soup?
Yes, Soup is one of my favorite things to pressure cook. We've got lots of great soup recipes www.pressurecookingtoday.com/category/soup/
Thank you, Mrs. lifesaver 😊
❤❤❤❤i hv never use one. But hope to get one cos it is,supposed to save alot of time❤
Another big advantage is it's mostly hands-off time too. So you can set it to cook and go do other things.

@@Iamavale you're welcome! It was a great question.
The button with the line and connected circle, is that delay start?
Yes, I think they were going for a stop-watch look? And the wavy lines next to it are the keep warm setting.
Is 1 cup water enough? My manual says 375ml and it's an Australian 5.7liter Rio
Yes, 1 cup of water or thin liquid is enough for most recipes.
Anyone know how to change the pressure cook temperature level???
This model only cooks on high pressure.
Where would I be able to get the Stalin steel insert for this instant pot?
Unfortunately, the stainless steel pot does not work in the Instant Chef Rio.
