I have just started painting (not this game) and am so scared of techniques like this mixing color ON the model or having a base layer and than another color on top of that to create a certain effect.
I totally understand that fear! I was really worried the first time too. The best thing you can do is to paint the base colors on first, then use a wash over that. Once it dries, use the SAME colors on top. Don't use a different color the first time you do it. Just leave the wash untouched in deep grooves and on the underside of the mini. This way you'll get a gentle highlight and some shadows without the risk of using a highlight color that doesn't work. I hope that makes sense!
The first time I started painting minis, that would be the only "highlighting" I did. Over time you get more comfortable with it, and you can start using brighter and brighter highlights.
That was a great tutorial, thanks very much. Every step really clear, not too long (bonus haha!). You got a great result too
Sigmar 3 Thank you :) Glad you liked it!
Fantastic lion, informative tutorial as well!
Thank you kindly! I love KDM.
Could you list what brushes you used for each part? Trying to learn brushes as well, specifically, what one for the teeth?
Fantastic stuff as always! That base looks amazing btw! Looking forward to the next one :D
Thank you :) This guy was pretty fun to paint! Some day, maybe I'll even play the game haha - I hear it's a blast.
Haha yes you should for that kind of investment! :D I haven't had that problem yet, but with 5 KS's shipping to me this year I might soon lol
