I absolutely LOVE my 2020 Sorento SX AWD V6. It's far better than my outgoing 2015 Lincoln MKC 2.0 AWD i had. It's AWD alone is superb in bad weather. Kia hit a home run with the dynamax system. It's even better than the newer Htrac AWD systems Hyundai is using. The V6 can be a bit of a guzzler on gas but no more so than if you owned a Jeep Grand Cherokee. It's got a nice throaty masculine growl to it as well. The seats and leather used is also extremely comfortable. And i can't get over how much space this SUV had for it's size. Kia really did plan this design out thoroughly in squeezing out as much cargo room as possible. For example, the Grand Cherokee only has about 68 cubic feet with all the seats folded down. Where as the Kia has 73 that little bit extra folks goes a LONG way. Not to mention how narrow it looks on the Grand Cherokee because the rear wheel wells are hindering a lot of that space. Where as the Kia everything is flat back there. Just a great SUV that i plan on keeping for a long while as it just turned 39k. And perhaps my next vehicle will be it's bigger brother the Telluride.
I just bought one a week ago and just love all the room it has. As for the comments on getting the v6 I find the 2.4 engine good enough for me. After all I am 66 years old and by no means Mario Andretti. All these bashers of kia are the same one who were telling you not to buy japanese 30 years ago, and if these morons do their homework before yapping they will learn that they are made in Georgia Alabama.
Jolly P I'm thinking of getting a 2016, maybe 2017. We have 6 in our family though. We've had minivans for ages and they're ok, but my wife drives it for just work most of the time, so I'm thinking the 3rd row folding seats would be nice. I'm afraid the small engine wouldnt be enough however for all of us.
The 2016 KIA Sorento has a very nice luxurious design. I really like the fact that the greatly improved the steering this year to a more heavy type steering, making the driver feel more confident. And the luxurious seats are class-leading I've heard. KIA is one of the most popular brands in the US. We're living in 2016 and I think it's time to realize that KIA is selling more cars than Toyota in countries like Russia and Brazil.
The new 3rd gen sorento looks so much like the Toyota Highlander.... Highlander is better and more reliable but this is also better than most other suvs 👌
+Peter John Lerum Highlander is not more reliable then the Kia and the Kia rates higher in Consumer Reports. Drove the Highlander and bought the Kia. Best hands down SUV
bought the limited model 5 days ago. I have to say I never thought I would buy a kia but it an amazing car...I still think it a little pricey, but it has everything I wanted in a car within my price range
This is late but I'd try to help. My mom got a 2014 Kia Sorento with 19k miles for $21,000. Great car but with monthly payments of $400, it'll be impossible for you to save that much unless your parents want to help you out. Also factor in insurance for an SUV and the cost of ownership skyrockets. I'd say you look for compact cars like Chevy Sonic or 2011-2014 Toyota Corolla that wouldn't destroy your wallet. Hope I could help.
This generation of the Sorento has aged so well inside & out, especially in the SX & SXL/ Limited trims. But it's so hard to find a 2016-2020 SX or SXL/ Limited near me that doesn't have a black interior & has one of the contrasting interior colors with low miles
T McReynolds how is it like with the driving and the mileage? I'm thinking of getting one myself for my family does it ride smooth ? and does it take up alot of gas?.
Kanya It drives good. And you get really good gas mileage. It rides so smooth..Every time my husband and I go somewhere in it, we get sleepy..that's how smooth it rides. I just love it and you will too if you decide to buy.
The 2016 Sorento is a lemon I purchased one in 2015 and had to get a new engine put in it 2018 it just died on me while I was driving on the highway , and last night it started smoking , now they're saying that these cars are setting on fire from the engine.
I bought one of these brand new sorento lx. At 14500 miles problems with ac losing power, brakes going to the floor, and banging sound shifting into drive /reverse. Plus a few times on freeway stuck on 40MPH as soon as you push accelerator it would power up veering to the left . Took it back many times to dealer! Trust me buy a Toyota Rav4 or Honda.....
As appealing as the car is because of it's price and design this is exactly what concerns me. If you get a Honda or Toyota you don't have to worry about reliability at all.
Yes Derek your absolutely right! The reason I bought the kia sorento was the nice exterior design, and the comfortable interior plus the base msrp. Even consumer reports gave it a good rating, two years later they lowered the rating on the same exact 2013 model lx??? I'm not gonna trust their ratings anymore...
Yes, because it takes awhile to gather enough information on a car especially after the redesign. Ever thought maybe you just got a lemon? You should have tried to just trade it in for another one. Also never buy a lx. They are the skeleton trim and less likely to have quality.
I do respect your opinion, but we have the opposite experience with the Sorento. I bought a 2016 lx model (with the help of my mom *thanks mom*) as my college car, and I had put in 25,000 miles into it. The only thing I had to do with my car is oil change, and replace my tires (although that is just because some kid from college thought I was flirting with her girl, dumbass).
hey Zack, Found myself on the lot yesterday looking at a loaded Nissan Rogue for around $30K and right next to it was a Kia Sportage fully equipped for ...WAIT FOR IT.......$34K I took a quick look inside the Sportage and said NO CONTEST to the ROGUE or Escape, or CR-V, or CX-5, etc. lol Great review. I know my story wasn't about the Sorrento but I'm still in shock.
gene978 I think the next generation will be out early next year. Won't change the pricing since it will just be a miniature Sorento, but until then I completely agree, that vehicle is best used for keeping dust off the much more interesting pavement it rests on.
It has features of the Infiniti QX60 (used to be JX 35).... I wish the interior was available in all TAN or WHITE or something bright. No really feeling the two tone. Love the ride...
I have rented both the Kia Sorento LX and Hyundai Santa Fe Sport and I was very impressed. I have to admit I was wrong about the base engine (both versions were AWD).They both drove great. I'm likely to get the two row version: Kia Sorento LX or EX-T or Hyundai Santa Fe Sport (base or Turbo version) I'm torn between the base engine or the turbo engine. Any suggestions? I'm not going to rule out the Hyundai Tucson or Kia Sportage either.
KIA is growing on me despite being old enough to recall the kah kah kah kia! commercials when their cars were similar in quality to Hyundai from decades ago. Now my neighbor across the street and my tenant both have the Sorento. It's tempting especially as I'm shopping for a suv now for the wife. I guess if it's for the wife I shouldn't care as much but I just find it hard to consider a car not American made where the dollars simply go over seas (further helping to widen the trade gap).
+Pete Andres I think it would be fair to say 'assembled' in Georgia. Other than factory workers assembling the parts - the money is still going back overseas. I think I'd rather my money stay in the America's whenever possible.
That's not really how it works. Kia USA is as American as a company can be. Kia provides thousands of jobs for Americans and your money is going towards them and not overseas.
Don’t know if you purchased one yet, but, I just bought this one (used), and I LOVE IT! It has so many amenities. And the panoramic roof is out of this world. And on empty, I can fill up for about $40. Hope this helps!
That is my truck, same color, same year, but with a few more accessories. I love that SUV and I've been pulling a 1500lbs trailer with a 1350lbs Maverick Trail in it and had power to accelerate to pass other vehicules. I cannot think of a better SUV. The only down side is my cruise control that gave me problems since start and maybe they can fix now...funny how it's all over RUclips but at the garage, they have no clue.
Hello bro, are Sorento 2016 better than Highlander 2011? or can compare with Highlander 2016?I love Sorento but highlander seem more popular, reliable and in my country Highlander are more far expensive than Sorento! even Highlander 2008 is around $33000 and Sorento 2016 is around $25000 only. I planned to get Sorento 2016.
Why do cars need all those electronics. That's why the price is so darn high. All people need is is something as simple as a 1950s with no computers. Its outrageous what people are tricked into buying these days, both electronic wise and crappy Asian cars.
Grant Jones A modern Chevy Impala will beat it's 1959 counterpart in performance, crash testing, everything except styling. As for crappy Asian cars, even Kia ranks #9 out of 28 car brands in reliability according to Consumer Reports 2015 report card. Just behind Honda, and beating out BMW, Acura & Volvo. Buick did manage #6, but GMC was #14, Chevy was #19 and Cadillac was #20. Must be all those darn recalls.
If you are going to get the Kia Sorento, Please do not get the base model engine. IT'S WEAK!!! Get the LX V6 or the EX or SX Models. A vehicle that size needs horsepower. That would be my choice.
+Charles allen jr I have an 2016 LX 5 seater with the base 2.4 engine. It does a great job getting around town and on the high way. I drive it like the vehicle it is and it gets me 23 to 24 around town which includes some freeway driving and 29 to 30 on highway trips. Now I would not get the 2.4L 7 seater option because having the extra weight of the extra seats and 2 more people in the vehicle would be too much for the engine. I love my Sorento!
+Jason Wells I'm leaning toward getting The Sorento LX V6 or the EX (5 seater Turbo version) I won't rule out Kia's cousin The Hyundai Santa Fe or Santa Fe Sport
If you buy a 2016 Sorento check to see has it been recalled already or your SUV will stop one day you will not see it 4 months almost five then you'll get a rental car that you will pay $10 won't have SUV you will have another and when you get use that vehicle you have to come bring that back cuz they sold it so now you have to get used to another rental vehicle all the while you're planning for your SUV that you paid for besides paying the $10 for the rental and that having your own vehicle that you're paying on it was a little rough and they managed to get away with it without the public knowing it's a nice vehicle is a great running vehicle is great running on gas for its size but can you have it and drive it so takes your vehicle for 5 months and it doesn't help if you had an accident before that and it was good for five months I thought they had a plant here so why is it so hard to get parts
The big picture is this Korean company gives us mid size SUV for the price of small size SUV. If willing to add few $$$. The question is Hyundai Santa Fe or Kia Sorento?
this is pretty interesting cause i thought they were about the same price as they sell in korea. especially south east asian countries which are developing contries
My our Sorento it’s had service at all the required schedule and we are so disappointed with vehicle and it’s warranty there it’s been two brake downs on it first a head now all the engine at 112,000 miles it’s very negative we better get help from KIA because we have all the records of service and we feel like we got a really bad car it looks good but it doesn’t keep up with the American standards!!
Just got a 2016 Sorento and love it. It handles nicely and the cabin is super quiet. Love the design and is plenty roomy for my average-size build.
How is it on gas?!
Those ex Audi designers at Kia are doing a great job.
I just got one yesterday, and I love it! I like to buy a few years old. It’s beautiful and Perfect for me.
What year did you buy, if you don't mind me asking?
Bought one 4 hours ago. EX 4 cylinder turbo. So far so good :-)
How is it?
How is it ?
Dang... Kia is doing good on designs... love it

look forward to future designs
I have the 2017 EX for a year now. Perfect SUV. v6 got me around 28-30 MPG highway. I drive at 70 MPH on highways.

bought the limited model 5 days ago. I have to say I never thought I would buy a kia but it an amazing car...I still think it a little pricey, but it has everything I wanted in a car within my price range

Yes..Everything is good. We bought a Toyota and a Infinity. The Kia Sorento is the best. :)
Which one did you get the two row or the three row one and which trim level? I'm debating on getting one.
The 2016 Sorento is a lemon I purchased one in 2015 and had to get a new engine put in it 2018 it just died on me while I was driving on the highway , and last night it started smoking , now they're saying that these cars are setting on fire from the engine.
I've been searching and searching for a perfect car for me and I thought I found the one but watching this changed my mind...
dont be missguided , this car is great, no doubt
Whats more reliable long term, the Nissan Murano, or the Kia Sorento?
I bought one of these brand new sorento lx. At 14500 miles problems with ac losing power, brakes going to the floor, and banging sound shifting into drive /reverse. Do your research on the rogue. Apparently it has some really bad transmission problems when it came out.
gene978 I think the next generation will be out early next year. Won't change the pricing since it will just be a miniature Sorento, but until then I completely agree, that vehicle is best used for keeping dust off the much more interesting pavement it rests on.

The taillights remind me of Grand Cherokee
I really like it. But please don't tell anyone.

cant wait to get mine. two more days till it arrives. I was going for the 4 cylinder. but made an effort for a better trim

+jjs777fzr The Kia Sorento is made at a big Kia factory in Georgia by American workers.
Test drove one. Wanted to buy. But the lack of vertical seat motion ultimately led me to look at its competitors.
If you mean vertical seat height adjustment, according to Kia, all Sorentos have vertical seat height adjustment, regardless of version or options.
I am in the market for a new used car and im thinking of this one. What are everyones thoughts? how does it do on gas mileage?
Don’t know if you purchased one yet, but, I just bought this one (used), and I LOVE IT! It has so many amenities. And the panoramic roof is out of this world. And on empty, I can fill up for about $40. Hope this helps!
I miss that guy!
Like so many Kia products....Might be the best looking of the bunch! Great value too!
I agree with you. The current Optima and Sportage look better in person. Pictures don't do it justice.
Kia Sorento memang best! Dah test drive. Plus now Kia bagi rebat banyak sangat. Bestttttt
I got this because of the pierce brosnan commercial
Well, the Kia badge is way better than the pound land red tick mclaren badge. But yes, they could update it
Does it have a quiet engine

KIA is better than Hyundai
