Damn 6 years of riding and I've never heard of loosening your cranks so your legs have less resistance while trying to adjust position in the air. It definitely sounds like it would make a difference. I'm gonna have to try that out. Also I remember the first day I felt like my hops were dialed enough to be able to hop up any curb in the city. I don't think I've ever been that stoked. Good times.
@@AMM1998 when my cranks were super stiff there was no difference, despite clear resistance from the bearings that would no longer spin..I have never heard of anything like his idea in all my years and know you will kill cranks, bearings and axles if you run your cranks loose....
Crust Brigtop my reference to the cranks being loose is aimed more towards movement. Loose enough to spin freely, not loose enough to cause damage. If you tighten your cranks super tight it could also make it harder to manual. These are this that I’ve personally found to make some tricks easier or harder.
@@DeMarcusPaul I disagree that tighter cranks make it harder to manual either. Who do you imagine has cranks so tight they can't pedal, as that seems to be what you are talking about? I'd get the point if you were talking about crank flips, but manuals and bunnyhops? What kind of pro are you?
2:39 The jimmy hop was called the UK bunnyhop back in the day and the other bunnyhop when you lift the front wheel first was call the american bunny hop back when i first started riding when i was 7
@@ChiTownGuerrilla It really depends what you are trying to do. American bunny hop is great for getting height. But is harder to do at faster speeds. An english hop is safer at high speeds if your goign for distance. Indee combing the too styles you can hop quite far. A high american style bunny hop you pull up teh front wheel as high as possible and explode upwards with your hips. If your going for distance you want that power in your pedalling and pullign up hard at speed puts you off balance more making landing more dangeorus. A uk hop with a small pull give syou a nice compromise of height and high speed hopping in safety. I used to do an american hop over a tennis court fence from almost standing still where as when i hopped over volunteers I did a compromise of teh two whcih was more a uk hop (I could uk hop very very high!).
@@kudosbudo Yeah the only I can do 180s is with both wheels at once, it never felt right for me to pull up the front then the back for a 180. For 360s is a different story kind of have to "American bunny hop"
i tried to hop a shopping cart in 1987. i was going fast because shopping carts are wide. i clipped it with my back wheel. didn't crash but it scared me so bad i didn't try again.park benches were easy because the wide part is low. 46'' was my best measured hop. i also cleared 15 kids laying side by side on a sidewalk.if you want to race you'll be slow if you can't bunnyhop.
Damn nice video! I have a problem when lifting the back wheel and I really lift the front wheel first but my technique is bad tbh I’ll watch this vid later and I’ll try to follow the steps 🤟
After years of riding I'm still afraid of standing still position of bunny-hop. Now trying to improve on my street trial bike. And I feel myself scared as hell in the middle of motion so I unconsciously tighten myself. That pisses me off.
I think landing on your back wheel happens naturally, no one taught me how to bunnyhop and landing correctly just happens on it's own. I feel like it's the same for everyone. If you land on your front wheel you know you're hopping wrong ,unless of course you're trying to land nose manual.
@@Bmxicano2 ya cuss a child watching a tutorial knows that..Your not everyone. And you have no clue what others or a child might need in technic info that his dad or his friends that can barely lift front wheel can give him. Smh
Hi guys, so. I have a problem, i dont know what bmx to get, what are the sizes to the frame and the barhandle. Im 175 cm and i know i have to have my frame somewhere between 20 and 21 inches and how about the bar handle?can someone help me?
I'm 180 Cm, my frame is 21", bars are 9.6" long, 28" wide. I'm using frontload stem. Just try and see what suits you, most probably you need 9 to 9.5 inch bars, with a top load stem, you should be fine.
For your height i would recommend a 21top tube. But the more you experiment with different frame sizes you may have a different preference with sizes and frame and geometry.
Great vid, loved the location. All the bunny hop videos I've seen are at the skate park, and in the day, so night time in the city was awesome to watch. Do you have IG so I can see more of your stuff? Greetings from Australia 🦘🇦🇺

Homie's got high hopes saying trying to bunny hop a shopping cart. My guy, I can't even bunny hop a whole curb lmfao.

It's rediculous, don't do it. I could hop exactly the same height when my crank bearings were dead.
@@crustbrigtop1374 could you actually feel that your feet could move more freely or no?

Even if i never learn anymore tricks i can still be hapy that at least I can bunny hop!
Your ideas and souls are great, this is an encouraging introduction and teaching to practice.
Back to basics. Begin is such a chill guy.
This was a really well made how-to. Demarcus Paul is a beast!
Thank you!
have to agree with doing it on everything to gauge your bunny hop. That is how I learn and know what my limit is.
Cool Guy.
I remember my first days hopping up curbs 😂. I learned to hop high through the years but not Demarcus high
Yeah that was crazy!!!!! Mad height!!!! Very high
Thnx man. You got some sick hops. Currently learning them. Back on the bike at 29. 👍🏼
Hell yea dude! 🤘

Interesting. It's always been a bunnyhop to me (growing up in San Diego)...I've heard lots of other names for the two wheel hop, though.
So... The wrong way, and the right way!
Same for me here in the UK. English /American hops.

Really good explanation. Learning to bunny hop can be the worst lol.
Haven't touched my bike since I broke my ankle in May. Think I'll wait for spring.😣
Demarcus is cool af
Where I came from a bunny hop was when you lifted both tires to the same height. What he's showing us how to do we called that a Bronco.

Get comfortable leaning back pulling front end up , learn to loop out bring bars towards knees
is also about confidence, if you don’t feel like it, don’t try it.
