BGG Review list - boardgamegeek....
I simply love you two. Your bits are the best comedy on the internet. And as a bonus we get some insight into select board games.
Thank you very much for thinking we're funny! You and our mums makes three... :P
Loved Elaine's dramatic finger snap at 12:20!!
My Warhammer 40K collection, my Age of Sigmar stuff, my Kings of War stash, my Warmaachine\Hordes boxes, and now this ? I feel like Tommy Wiseau in movie The Room .."You're TEARING me APART !". Yes, the Citizen Kane of bad movies.
"We'll get a bigger table"
LMAO the performance in this is hilarious
This was great. Thanks!!!
Fantastic review. It was very detailed, had well thought out points, was humorous and had a very high production quality. Great work all around, subbed.
PETE!?
My local shop sells the core set for 30 quid and the add ons for between 5 and 20
I LOOOOOOVE the Terrinoth universe but I already have Runebound 3e, the whole Battlelore 2e collection, the whole Descent 2e collection (except the Lieutenants) and I'm going to grab an old copy of Rune Age so I don't think I can justify spending.... WAIT, WHAT?!!
A Lore Guide?!!!
Damn you guys!!! I might need to get this now!!!
thanks for the review. In typical FFG fashion you always need 2 core sets plus a thousand expansions to complete the game XD
So, much like they do in general, then, like Star Wars: Destiny
- To play in a constructed tournament, you need a deck of 30 cards.
- But, a starter only contains 20 cards? What...
- *Shut up and buy booster packs!*
That's not FFG's fault.
Practically every wargame is like that.
The starter sets usually contain the bare minimum.
Want to play at a level the game is designed for ?
You're going to need more stuff.
And that's before you consider the faction/army specific books that tend to be released every so often.
The only ones that don't have this are games like Blood bowl and Guild ball because those starters contain full teams (of course they would ;-))
This is a *start* of a complete hobby.
From building & painting to playing & designing your armies (and yes ... you will be buying a second army )
Great review of the game! Since runewars is now out of production and you can get a lot of the models cheap is this still a game you play?
I have repeatedly watch 12:20 to 12:25 at least fifty times now ...
half speed isn't slow enough...
I agreed with your intro. I used to be a HUGE FFG fan, but in the last 5ish years, they've put out nothing but collectible/expandable games, and it's too the point that i've just given up on buying anything from them anymore. Whats worse is how they engineered their expansions in such a way that you have to buy even the expansions you don't need because there will be 1 thing you do want and so there ya go. Now, don't get me wrong, I like expansions to board games, like rebellion, even Decent etc, but all their expandable games like the LCGs, X-wing, armada, runewars minis etc has just gotten out of hand.
As far as runewars goes, it looks very good and like it'd be lots of fun, problem is the same as most of their other expandable games, there's just no player base. I just got back into 40k with 8th edition and I can go to multiple different shops every saturday and play games. I guarantee you, Runewars will not be popular enough for that and you might be hard pressed to even find play groups at all. FFG games tend to canabalize players from one game to the next. Hopefully i'm wrong, but I doubt it, and if it does catch on down the road, i'll consider buying in at that point.
kevin sayers agree 100%. Thankfully I woke up to FFG's shit long ago. They may have possibly been good at one point but now it's all about exploitation and greed with them.
You were right.
Rather than making some compatible Star Wars factions for the fanboys, they announced Legion and instantly cannibalising the community for this critically acclaimed game from the Terrinoth fans :(
Elaine's grasp of the strategy and ability to explain it is impressive. But, they both pretty much showed me what I'm not missing. I'll stick to the RUNEWARS Board Game.
Always nice to see something shot walking distance from my home
Is your home Cornelius Superhair? Because that is the best shop name in the world.
No Pun Included No, but I've sometimes considered co-opting the name for my very own
This game was so cool but basically dead on Arrival. It was given away in the VIG bags at Adepticon, and I really liked it so I bought 2 additional copies of people who didn't want to fly it home.
I've even since bought expansion mini packs like the skeleton horse people, and the wraiths, and even some of the elf packs to use in games like frostgrave and Rangerss of Shadow deep.
So now I have a crap ton of Skeletons and human soldiers so there is that.
Hey there, just found your channel (and subscribed). I recently decided to start this game and your review and thoughts were awesome, thank you!!!
Speak for yourselves!!
Terrinoth is my FAVOURITE tabletop IP!! 😊 (I prefer Star Wars on my screen than on my table)
Although I do not own this game (no community in my area) I'm so tempted to get into collecting this just because it's Terrinoth ☺
i laughed so much for the intro
I have only just noticed that you call them Fantasty Flight Games in the description. Not sure if that is intentional, but I'm calling them that from now on.
Love it! I guess it's time for the Second core set… slug love is real love!
That's a slippery road you're going down. And not just because of the slugs.
I love your videos! I also love board games! Now days, video games grab so much attention but all I see with those is buying digital data that may be obsolete in two years. Board games are tangible and always around and you don't have to pay to play like you do with video games! Keep up the good work you guys!
LOL. The best intro I have ever seen. THX. 😁
The delectable Mike from Leisure Games!
I just found this wideo - love the intro !!!!
"Even though I hate your archers, but who cares?" Just like the archers in Battlelore 2nd, those guys will shut down the whole board.
"The best is yet to come"...
Not much, they discontinued it.
What anime is that kiss from (I so enjoyed how that bit ended on the Queen), and what games are the minis at 4:55 and 5:10 from?
Great video :) Do you think that Runewars is more worth to start then other fantasy mini games? :)
The first game review in which someone was poked with a stick. I can die happy.
And I can die having been poked with a stick.
Big boy there looks like he came off a three day bender! LOL
Another great video BTW
1:39 I love RLGs (Role-laying games) ;p
Oh my word I didn't even notice that!
And to think that I have lost (hypothetically...) a proper expansion for my beloved Forbidden Star for... this... thing... [cries out loud]
NightDex I think the reason why FFG lost the Warhammer & 40k licenses was that X-Wing was outselling GW's games (look up ICv2 sales for miniatures games)
Well, true, there is a finite quantity of plastic that our world can accommodate, but still I got the feeling that their roads split apart over overlapping universes. Even though Age of Sigmar barely feels like fantasy anymore... [sarcastic grin]
So how is it compared to X-Wing? Worth giving a try even if you own and love X-Wing? Or is it just a rethemed X-Wing-Core with some additional rules?
They share mechanisms but they are not at all the same game. The scope and feel are different.
X-Wing, Armada, and this? I think my wallet just jumped out of the window.
Isn't Leisure Games Quintin's local games shop? I'm sure it appeared in Season 1 Episode 1 of SUSD.
Leisure Games is just THE shop when it comes to London. London is big.
It was watching Quintin walk into that shop that re-ignited my gaming bug. It ended many moons ago, when Gary Gygax started making it really hard for my Magician to live through a 2nd Ed AD&D campaign. Thank you, Leisure Games, for re-introducing me to board games.
Welcome back!
Nice review, nice video, but really, how many miniatures you saw before? I found it pretty goofy, not in par with actual standard, and even background look like something coming from some old 80 standardized fantasy setting.
EDIT: I saw you point the some problem later in the video.
Francesco i
Howe well does this game stand up to Battlelore you think?
I'm staying well clear of it. So overpriced, I don't care how good it may look.
I'll stick to cheaper historical minis.
For a "modern" style game, 200 bucks will get you two starters which is 2 200 points armies with upgrades. That's hard to beat outside of historics.
Shame they never do cardboard counter versions for cheaper.
@@kudosbudo ewww, lol
great sense of humor
The one thing stopping me from getting into miniatures games is that the core boxes never have enough to really get into the game.
Pick up the new 40k Dark Imperium. I'm not GWs biggest fan - but .. This box has more than enough to play, Includes the big arse full hard back rule book, 50 odd lovely mini's, dice measuring stick etc and its the 40K Universe - which is a great and well developed setting. GW have learnt to engage over the last two or three years and I seriously recommend this as a pick up option. Runewars ... I don't like the setting, I don't like the component restrictions and nice as the mini's are there are a lot of nicer fantasy min's out there by several other firms (though arguable you could use those with RW) ...
Anyway - If you are looking to start mini gaming look at Dark Imperium from GW. It wont be enough - as Efka says you never have enough mini's - it it does include enough to game with, and with therules and everything else its actuality good value - more so than RW...
Does enough for 2 players come in the box, or is that for just 1? Well, I guess I could just look it up myself, which I'll do so now, because it sounds interesting. Thanks for letting me know! Always been interested in getting into 40k.
Otherspersons for two - you get enough chaos and enough primus marines for a good fight
Another great vid thanks. I've been busily painting up my Runewars stuff since release.
Just want to mention that you seem to be overplaying the whole upgrade card thing. Like you said, FFG have said that all neutral upgrade cards will be available in every faction's expansion boxes. So far that has happened, either in current releases or announced ones - so I'm not really sure what the criticism is...?
Totally agree about the dials though - FFG can't help themselves unfortunately - they create these great games and then needlessly and artificially limit listbuilding by not including a few extra bits of cardboard.
They do the same with the Imperial Assault boxed expansions - for instance you may well have 4 Heavy Stormtroopers, but you're not supplied with the 'full' amount of deployment cards, so you can only run one regular and one elite group, not 2 of one or the other...
bassboyjon I think what bothered me slightly is that the new upgrade cards are not concurrent between armies. It's a very minor point, but why not give equal options simultaneously?
+No Pun Included I suppose it means that the factions are slightly more asymmetrical, and the most 'competitive' players who can't wait for the card to come out in later packs will give FFG more sales. It's not ideal, but it's a hell of a lot better than being close to forced to buy out of factions
Love your wallet! :D
Is there a difference in british english language between "three" and "free"?
I am german so I couldn't tell. ;)
I am still figuring that one out myself.
Can you review The captain is dead!?
12:23 I loled off my seat.
I cannot go big, I'll have to go home... or play it at a convention :)
This game is awesome!
What card game they were playing on the shop?
Magic, as far as I recall.
What a cute turquoise wallet.
starlinguk Thank you very much!
Great a new vd the day cant be that shitty :-)!!!!! Great work again thank you!
I wouldn't commit to this just yet. Who knows whether the CMON Game of Thrones game gonna' be better than this? (They look awfully similar on paper...)
I think I'll go for the Game of Thrones, but we'll see in july!
They looked very similar to me, but I might be wrong. Also, CMON tends to support its games - just consider the thousands of different incarnations of Zombicide and the ton of extra content they put out through stretch goals...
Has CMON done a tournament scene yet (i dont know)? There is not a single reason not to let them try it. Both companies have different marketing strategies and I think we shouldn't bash either of them for it. Also we haven't even seen the full contents of CMON's box, so taking sides which game is better might be a bit overreacting
For all their loathsomeness CMON do make better minis than FFG...
We don't even know how long FFG will continue to support the game. Battlelore, anyone??
Is that a Rega ? I just got a Planar 3 ...
It is indeed!
No Pun Included thought I recognised the lifting arm
Still really on the fence about Runewars:TMG versus Warhammer Age of Sigmar. I'm interested in finding a streamlined miniatures game, but not have it break my wallet.
Good luck! Might take you a while :P
Malifaux for skirmish level games is pretty cheap. Or if you like the sports stuff Guild ball is gloriously cheap and deep
If someone was interested in this game your commentary surely drove them away by 10:00
I'm sure the game is fun, but I have to be invested in the story too. And the Runebound setting is just boring as all piss to me.
Jsh Pk just like warhammer‘ so that thing is different (o sorry it’s the. Xenos) I must kill it. Sorry but lore in war games is usually not that deep just an excuse to kill each other, this warhammer sigmar 40k infinity the idea of in the future there is only war resumes it very well, if you like the mechanism of the game then story is important but no story can improve gameplay if game play is bland,
E & E Gaming Factory rocks!!!!!
Here's a cure for buying miniatures: Having to paint the **** things. :P
There's a simple solution : spray cans ...
Army Painter has them in a variety of colours.
I've seen people paint the contents of the core Runewars box in a single weekend.
But..that's the most Fun part...at least for me
This game is really cheap right now
Yeah. You liked this, didn't like Arkham Horror LCG lol. I question your judgement...
the name is so confusing because i got runewars board game - and that is a whole other thing! @_@;
can I be your neighbor please?
no one plays any kind of games here in my town.
cheers
Why are you posting a game like this during the steam sales!!! Its getting expensive to be a geek now a days! Anyone know how much a kidney goes for?
I'll give my friend Hannibal a call.
Hi from 2019. this game is dead already.
And the core set is $25 on Amazon at the moment. The game came and went fast.
If people really wanna play a minatures game I don't think they go for this.
only miniature game I care for is Malifaux.
"If the gameplay is good, the rest doesn't matter!" Then why did you spend the last seven and a half minutes talking about it? Why did you spend the intro to Panamax bashing its cover? If you really think that the most important thing is the gameplay then why act as though the other bits matter? It's always frustrating to me when people talk about quality of miniatures, or the little figures or other pieces. Ultimately these could be little scraps of paper with what they are written on them and the game would be just as fun because what makes a good game are the rules and gameplay. And sure ideally you would have a great game and it would have good fiddly bits, like coins and other stuff, but if I ever had to choose between the two I'd take the game which is very well made and fun and has its pieces represented by pocket change over the most beautiful Forgeworld-quality miniatures tied to a crappy ruleset.
Mate, I feel like you like to pick on words and complain :(
I'm sorry, I was really harsh there. I've always been very rules- and gameplay-oriented in my thinking and preferences, and so it irks me when a lot of focus is put on something that ultimately doesn't contribute to that, or at least doesn't do so for me.
Perhaps our channel isn't the best fit? There's so many amazing reviewers who focus more on the details.
