I'd like to see all these people criticizing reply with links to pictures of them with their 5th or 6th Dan black belt on. Thank you Miss Cross for going through the movements, I needed help with the inner circular blocks. Taekwon.
Great pattern. Many years ago I won a gold medal in a British championship doing this won hyo. Too many disrespectful fockers online don't listen to them
@caldertkd the rear knee is still above the toes. even in 1980 L stance was half-facing. I know jhoon rhee used to teach it as side facing though, he was wrong. btw side facing don't make much sense in combat, unless you r only using side-piercing kicks, or hook kicks. half facing makes more sense in punching or most kicking combos. to see this try doing a jab-cross combo in a side facing posture. the cross takes longer when ur side-facing, same thing for lead side kick- back leg turning kick.
mass can generate? 5- is there breathing control? After you apply these criteria, you are in a better position to evaluate the pattern. I believe Miss Julia Cross, deserves more credit than what she got, not only for the great performance, but also because she demonstrated how the pattern should be taught! Thumbs up for you Miss Julia Cross, keep it up and don't let them ignorants drag you down!
Pay good attention to the position where you start the pattern. You're supposed to finish in that exact same spot. I'm a red belt and get that a lot myself.
These videos are great! I met Miss Cross recently at the Watford Uk IIC. She tried to steal my bag! (we happened to have similar bags). Wasnt exactly going to pick a fight with her!
These videos are great for practicing tuls and fine tuning details. One detail has confused me with her Goburyo Sogi, though. In my opinion, her leg is 90 degrees off, at least compared to the way they teach us this stance. An example is at 2:12, when she is side facing, and she points her knee forward. Shouldn’t she be half-facing, and her knee be pointing directly at us?
Jhoon rhee taught the chang hon forms long before this ridiculous theory of sine wave was introduced. All this bouncing does is ruin and make impractical an otherwise beautiful series of forms.
excellent power and tecnique, but there are a few movements that are a little off, when doing the sidekick the same arm should be executing a parallel punch. no offense or negative critique intended.
@freemangsx what about l stance? when i was taught this 30 odd years ago the knee had to be above the toes and the body in a side facing motion , nowadays its half facing . therefore the knee cant be above the toes ! And i am still practicing and teaching to this day and dont agree with the changes ITF are doing. Only my opinion
Daniel Basaul training m8: if you want to exercise your leg , place it on a desk high as your belt (or even more) and stay in that position ( I have studied a history lesson in that position :P)
I have just recently graded to green belt i am learning won hyo i kinda get half way through it then i stop as im trying to remember what comes next is there a way that i can do this ?
I guess you have already earned your green-blue belt LOL just separate the pattern into pieces according to their likeness , as for the color belt pattern, many of the motions are repeating,
I find counting the moves helps me remember where I am. And practice, practice, practice and when you've had enough, practice some more. Hope you are doing well on your journey!
@@gogoko4654 yes earned my green belt not my blue belt but as i said im learning won hyo i kinda get half way through it then i stop as im trying to remember what comes next
The perfect execution of a pattern doesn't exist! There's always gonna be somebody who does the movements better than oneself, that is why you don't see that many ties in the championships! That said, what one should look for is: 1- the technical content (were the movements such as blocks, punches/blows or kicks addressed to where the founder intended? 2- is there reaction force? 3- can you see the up-down clearly -sine wave-? 4- does the practitioner produces the power that their body
I can do most of Won Hyo except that bit where you stand on left leg and do a right leg side kick, due to disability I struggle to balance 1 legged, even when sober lol.
Good pattern, stances are okay - rear leg (in the L-stance) was leaning in a bit but this gives you grip on the floor so it's forgiveable and don't forget she is a 5th dan, you wouldn't criticise a 5th dan in person, it would be disrespectful so why would you criticise them online, it's still just as disrespectful. Saying things online that you would not say in person is COWARDLY. Respect may not be one of the tenets but it IS in the taekwondo oath. 'I will respect my instructor and seniors'. Some organisations have now said they don't endorse the sound which is made with the mouth (not sure how i'd describe that, it sounds a bit like someone spitting) in my organisation (TAGB) they have said the only sound which should be emitted from the mouth when executing a technique is a full rapid blowing using the whole of the mouth in an open position (not with the lips tight to produce a high pitched sound like in this video). i approve. And we use a kihap ON the last technique not after it, i wonder which is technically correct.
itf is diff. traditional Chang hun, tkd... sound off 1st and last movement. itf announces the hyung they just did... not wrong just "their way".. itf also (in most cases) never lands on the spot they started. this happens because the stances are not consistent. hyungs are important to the art, and they should be done with precise moves. 5th degree or not. it was done well for an itf pattern.
+IndiaRubber Man Am I serious about what? There are no kihaps in ITF patterns. There never have been. She is saying the name of the pattern at the end. We do that in the ITF. They're our patterns we do them way Gen Choi stipulated they should be done.
+Michael A. Hadsall Re ending on the same spot/ stances not being consistent; I don't think that's true. I think with several patterns, starting with Won Hyo, you have to make little adjustments with foot placement position to end back at your starting position, but the stance lengths/widths remain the same.
Chester's probably just jealous. Miss Cross you kick ass :) Thanks for these videos. Great stuff. Using them now in preparation for my black belt grading.
maybe this is a really stupid question but i'd really appreciate an answer: what does Tul mean? I'm assuming it's something obvious that i've been missing for years

1:54 원효틀 Won-Hyo Tul (full pattern)
2:56 원효틀 Won-Hyo Tul (second half viewed from the other side)

Thank you for these posts. Very helpful to me.

My son does ITF Taekwondo in Erskine. We found this to be a fantastic video to help my son do some home training...Big thanks for posting
I passed green stripe for a green belt last week, this is very very helpful, ta muchly.
Remember that there is ITF and WTF the two are similar and different in many ways so before you criticise remember that.
Her won hyo tul is beautiful
won hyo is ITF, that´s it

Thanks a lot! Really great help! I'm hoping to go for my 5th kup on Sunday, so now I need to look back and refresh all the old patterns in my mind!

when performing a side piercing kick, unless specified, one should perform a middle punch too? just asking..starting from 01:23 of this video
you are correct, I didnt catch that mistake until you pointed it out. she should have extended her arm in a parallel punch there.
It's for balancing
In the demonstration of the pattern later in the video, she executes the punch both times.
your tkd is tight , technical and powerfull ! great videos ! 5******* ignore all the internet noobs ! Good job julia !
Agreed 😀

This is excellent, but I am looking for a video without the "sine-wave"" up and down. Can anyone suggest a video? Thank you.
Rich James What style Taekwon-do do you practice ITF has sine wave. There is TAGB and WTF which is olympic styel Taekwondo?
Jhoon rhee taught the chang hon forms long before this ridiculous theory of sine wave was introduced. All this bouncing does is ruin and make impractical an otherwise beautiful series of forms.

Nice power.
So brave to show your forms on youtube, in slow motion no less.
Tae Kwon!
Won hyo tul is the grade for green belts.

There is no kihap in an ITF pattern. She's saying the name of the pattern. That's said after you complete the pattern.
Are you serious, please tell me that is a joke!!!!!!!!!!!
No, no and no in that order.

great job, now I can improve my technique with your videos =)

Could I see how it's done then?
Excelente, muy bien marcados los movimientos!!!
Yes. ..step by step. .good videos! !
Why did you stop making videos, I thought I could follow your classes.!!!!!!!!! :(

Tul means pattern.
Maddie P check on google translated
I really don't like sinewave. It makes you look live you're on shock absorbers. A wave can be timed.
beautiful
It helps me for 4th kup
thank you.
im also an itf tkd original, and there are lots of mistakes. starting with the very first movement
Nice
el chum bi o como se escriba al principio esta mal por que es el A no el comun
hace algunas cosas un poco diferentes, pasa mucho desde que se dividio la ITF. pero tiene buena potencia y postura.
Im 1st degree ITF TKD original. And i can see mistakes. So this is clearly not the original TKD from General Choi Hong Hi.
3:35 NO NEED TO THANK ME :D
Good videos good jobb
She is good though!
falta Choong Moo. muy bueno :)
Where's the hip twists???
Beatiful Girl 😍😌
Why am i watching this i'm a blue belt XD
naty prestti luu nicole si
no si nicole
she never looks in her kicks' direction
I really like it except for all the bouncing. This so called sine wave takes away from the practicality and beauty of the form.
This is NOT martial arts forms, not sure what is. I vote for a much needed change to take the forms back where they are used to be.
Ann Pham and what that makes u so sure?
