- “Go for Broke,” Hawaiian slang for “give it your all” or “all in,” was the motto of the 442nd Regimental Combat Team, a unit comprised of Japanese Americans from Hawai’i and the continental U.S. The most decorated unit for its size and length of service, this formidable unit fought in the well-known major campaigns in Italy and France.

Grandpa's friend, Shig Doi was a part of the 442nd company I. They stayed great friends until Grandpa passed in 2001. Shig and his daughter attended my wedding in 2012. Was greatful they attended.
Currently I'm reading letters that both Grandpa and Shig would write to each other during the war. Just read one from Feb 1 1945, Shig was in France.
Thank you. We can never be reminded too often about what a huge debt we owe the Nisei.
The fact that Americans don’t know about the 442nd RCT is an utter travesty!
Agreed.
