This is one of the great stories of the American experience of WWII. It deserves to be told and retold - an example of how short-sighted we can be as a nation, and how our worst instincts can be overcome by Valor, Courage and Determination. Those Americans deserved respect, and their actions demonstrated that fact far more than words ever could.

The 442nd isn't actually the most decorated unit for its size. Especially not in the entirety of US military history when we consider that there have been regiments serving since the War of 1812.

If the US Army itself says they were, then they were. It's not an 'opinion'; it has been fully documented over and over again for decades.

The awards figures for the 442nd have been grossly exaggerated by modern sources. Read the 442nd's official history _"Americans: The Story of the 442nd Combat Team"_ if you don't believe me.
People who believe that the 442nd received more awards than anyone else, despite only serving in one major war, have been fed a lie for political purposes.

@@cleekmaker00 Not even the US Army can make up its own mind regarding how many awards the 442nd actually received. Naturally nobody wants to be the guy who says the 442nd wasn't as decorated as political activists want us to believe.

@@cleekmaker00 The Army, depending on the source, does not say they are the most decorated.

Then name the unit who is more decorated then them.
