    He was a very courageous man in a regiment of courageous men. The incarceration of Japanese Americans was absolutely a shame and a crime.
    People like Daniel Inouye and Gordon Hirabayashi are examples of how people in a democracy should behave, but also the situations that a democracy should never force people into.

    His wife, Margaret "Maggie," was my high school teacher in my senior year at University High School in Honolulu. I grad 1960.
