Even with a further improved D personnel, and a slightly further improved O personnel, obviously due to how Holmes will continue to work his magic, mostly through the drafts, the Lions will only win 9-11 games this 2024 regular season, but due to the 2024 draft and head coach Campbell further instilling the GRIT mindset, the Lions will win playoff games into the Super Bowl. Will they win THAT SB? I don't know, but they'll at least win the one after.
I wish, but what's more important is how the Lions do in the playoffs. Regardless, next season's schedule is far less easy than this season's.@@Darlene-r8d
"...one of the best organizations now in football..." Never in my life did I ever think that I'd hear that said about the Detroit Lions. I'm full of optimism for next season with all the talent, the great coaching, and an incredible GM. I'm looking forward to the Lions being a great team for some years to come... Detroit deserves this after all of the horrible decades of football we endured.
Well Said! It is so weird to see people wearing lions gear and I live in South Florida. I was born and raised in suburbs of the day and for my entire adult life of 29 years I have endured the pain of being a Lions fan. That being said, it is a great time to be a Lions fan!
It is so weird that they're now one of the elite organizations in the league. Can't front it's a lot cooler than the alternative. They're so damn good now
We really need corners our secondary can’t cover anyone. Next is an edge opposite of hutch that can get pressure followed up by a DT. Probably could look at bringing in some guards and a backup tackle in free agency too
@@michaelwicklund I'd say EDGE is more important. They'll take pressure off the secondary, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't considered about Cam Sutton. Dude gets burned consistently.
Need a closer on the O. Henry's a free agent. And no one closes like him. Plenty of cash for Queen for a all around LB. Trade up forDejean in draft or stay and likely get Rakestraw. One good edgecmay slip. Cedric Grey in 2. Utility LB. And and Queen secure mid-level passes and run. Queen good at blitzing. Both cheap.
I agree with pretty much all that you have said. This 2024 draft will fill the last few gaps we have and this team will be complete with a couple free agents and we have a new found rivalry with the Niners. The Lions are poised to lead the NFC into the next decade now that we have retained our OC and DC. #OnePride
All very good, sir - except I must amend your story here... The Lions did *NOT* pick between two offers for who they would trade Matthew Stafford to. Like 10 days after the Lions hired Holmes and then Campbell, Stafford out of the blue came to them and asked for a trade. This was NOT what either Holmes or Campbell were expecting, because I guarandamntee part of the reason both took the job is that they had prime Stafford to build around. But, because of the quality of people and professionalism of all involved, after the Lions couldn't change his mind, they agreed to work with him to try to trade him somewhere he wanted to go. The 49ers offered a package, as you mentioned, but so did the Panthers and Commanders. So Brand New Lions brass and Stafford held - and boom, there's McVay with the best pick package yet (2 1sts and a 3rd) AND Goff... Who, of course, Brad Holmes was instrumental in the Rams trading up to draft as Holmes was high up in the front office scouting and reporting directly to Les Snead back then. Look back at all the Rams talent building through draft back to even before Goff - and that's the guy the Lions got. The dude in the center of all the data building and hard work, so it's truly no wonder that the Lions now draft like bosses. Hell, the institutional knowledge at Rams HQ is still in effect as seen by the draft they had this past season to get Nacua et al.. Something the Rams and Lions scouts are doing is paying off BIG TIME). Anyway, no knock on your work, man, this was excellent. I just wanted to make sure you understood how special the story is with Lions trading Stafford... It wasn't a matter of the Lions holding out for the best offer, it was two parties equally respecting each other trying to do the best for each other. And it's playing out like they both won big time. Truly amazing.
The amount of talent on the return for Stafford is insane. Goff. Melifonwu Jamo Paschal Gibbs LaPorta Brodric Martin. 3 pro bowl players... And Iffy and Jamo might yet turn into pro bowl caliber players.
The Lions need a couple of guys on their defense and they have a potential dynasty. With Ben Johnson sticking around as OC, people should be on this hype train.
If the Lions defense gets better, watch out. Because their offense is already top tier. So in free agency I would concentrate on defense again. Add one or two pieces then in the draft add at least one more. Then add one WR in the draft because that's a deep group. They have 4 of the top 92 picks. They could easily find 4 contributors from that.
I 100% agree. I could see them extending Goff and St. Brown. Would love to see them go Edge, DI, CB early in the draft and pick up OL and CB in free agency. One missing piece has been a good kicker. Would love to see them finally address that as well.
I believe they're going to be the best team in the league for the foreseeable future. 14-3 next year and on to the Superbowl after that. They're set up so good that you might be witnessing one of the best teams ever after it's said and done.
Anybody who thinks the Lions are going to go out and sign big name free agents is really not paying attention. They will probably get a CB, Stephon Gilmore feels like a possible fit on a 1 or 2 year deal. But thats going to be about it. This team will continue to add talent via the draft and supplement depth via free agency. Brad Holmes basically said as much already
I tgink that you hit it on the head, they'll probably sign a couple of mid tier starters to short term deals and some depth. It is possible if the right guy pops up they could sign one top end guy but I don't think that it is very likely
@@dereckdunckel Yeah, I think the hard part is that even though they have money right now, they are going to be in cap trouble soon with the big contracts that are going to be coming for our own guys. @satchelraidincoming636 they're actually pretty good as far as cap goes for quite a while as long as they don't get wild. Goffs raise can be mitigated by tracy walker being gone by the time his extension even takes place then some of their own guys that they sign to longterm deals can be a little back heavy as well so they definitely can still make a responsible small splash without worrying as long as they keep it short term deals. Lions are for real. They need a better pass rush defense. Sutton struggles too much and gives up too many big plays. Lions have a tougher schedule this year, but should weather it good, considering the tougher teams come to Detroit.
Sutton is much better in zone coverage. Due to the injuries in the secondary though this season, they were forced into a lot more man coverages. Depending on who they sign/draft, we might see a lot more zone next year, and you’ll see Sutton do much better. Remember he actually started the season out pretty good.
