At 1-6 last year, Sheila Ford Hamp backed up her crew in the media - and the way she supported them was legitimate and genuine. They were all on the same page and course, we just didn't know it. Great job to the entire organization! *_onepride_*
You can tell she genuinely loves Dan as a coach and a human and that he feels the same about her. It’s great to see ownership backing the team as a whole and not just concerned with financial success.
I believe that was a turning point. The talking heads wanted Dan and Brad fired. A lot of talk radio in Detroit. She did something her dad never would have done - went looking for the cameras after practice to say this is the right leadership, these are my guys and they aren't going anywhere. That 1-6 turned into 8-2 and 21-7 since. I think that vote of confidence meant a lot to coaches and the players.
Sheila Hamp is what Jerry Jones wish he was doing. She was always a fan growing up she inherited the team my god she cares😂😂
Sheila Ford Hamp is easily one of the best owners in the league. She knows how to inspire people, and she seems to know just what to say to bring out the best in her staff. The MCDC/Brad Holmes era in Detroit may turn out to be the best Cinderella story in NFL history.
Shelia is a descendant of both the Ford and Firestone families. That's some impressive pedigree.

@@jay_1755 Yea that game was heartbreaking. They definitely should have been playing again next week. It reminded me of the Detroit game in Dallas, where they were the better team, but a little bit of ref ball and a couple of unlucky plays held them back from the W.

The Lions fan crying after the win actually used to go to games with his dad who had season tickets for just him and his son. His dad was such a die hard fan that when he passed away he was dressed in his lions gear. The fan was crying because he was so happy they won and wished he could have shared the moment with his dad who died when he was a teenager I believe.
His dad was also an iron worker who helped build Ford Field.

Coach Dan Campbell came to the Lions when they were figuring out what to do with themselves (native right here) and the way he bought the moral up and created the culture that most of the Detroit-Pontiac-Flint tri-city area was made of before it got pulled apart, make Coach Campbell very unique and special. The players are only as good as their coach and Dan Campbell is that guy. I'm thrilled about Jared as well. GO MY LIONS GO!!!!

Thats actually extremely powerful when you think about it. Yeah, Pat said they stopped climbing, which is true; but why did they stop climbing? Thats what Chuck is speaking to. Its mental. Its not about focusing solely on the end goal or looking forward to what you think you 'might' accomplish. Keep the end goal in mind for sure, but its really about focusing on what's in front of you and putting the work in every day so that you will be prepared for any challenge.

Chucks speech. Pretty much the city of Detroit and its people in a nutshell. I love that Dan identified that and made it such an integral part of the team. He really did make a team that this city can identify with and get behind. A team we can finally be proud of
Dude as a Tampa bay fan this will be a bitter sweet game I respect the hell out of the lions and I love that coach it’s the only other team that I go look up their post game locker room speeches! Good luck Detroit may the best team win!
I'm a Panthers Fan but loved seeing the lions win the other night for MCDC and Geoff!!! Def a special moment in football! Also nice to see Geoff bounce the rams out the playoffs after they bounced him out!
I've been a fan of the show for a little while. I've been going through some stuff lately. I needed to hear what Coach Chuck said. Thank you, Coach Chuck, and thank you, Pat and the boys. I have to go pick up the axe.
D'andre Swift is a great example. During Hard Knocks you see him coached - if you go to the inside instead of play it safe and go outside... you score right there. Then they said 'you need to learn the difference between pain and injured. You don't miss a game because of a hangnail. Swift didn't listen and they went and got Gibbs. Now you got players that fight to get back early like LaPorta and CJ and Houston. Those players have grit. Swift had a good year in Philly but he wasn't going to stick in MCDC's world.
Swift never wanted to be in Detroit and quit on the team. He got his wish and got traded, but his character is weak and if the Eagles ever needed him for a deep playoff run he would fail his team because that's just how he's built.
They picked up Montgomery to replace Swift and ended up with Gibbs in the draft

that was Deuce Staley - but yeah he was all in on the MCDC mold and that was exactly it. He was for sure their most talented back but they never trusted him - it was evident during hard knocks that they were not able for the team to count on him. Where you see guys like Aman Ra, Goff, DAMO - you know you are going to get everything they have. Notice also that they seem to be turning Jameson Williams into a grit player. I think there were some doubts at some points - some people have so much talent that they never have had to work hard - like Randy Moss - JAMO is sort of like that - but they are coaching him into a bonafide hardcore player. I have to say for all the tribulations he has been through - for a player with that type of talent - they could easily get sour and become a problem - as in - "I'm not getting my targets" he has never been anything but upbeat - hard working positive teammate -that means a lot - he is going to become the star he is destined to be IMO.

As a Dolphins fan, we all wanted him as HC when he was out interim, even the players wanted him. Awesome to see him shining as a Head Coach, especially in such a forgotten franchise.
Love what Chuck said about grit. Also, Dan didn’t fix the culture of the team, he brought a culture of hard work when there wasn’t one.

As a Lions fan I couldn’t be more proud of the job Dan Campbell, Brad Holmes and the entire organization have done in 3 years. They turned the doormat of the league into a team other organizations are envious of. I can’t tell you how many comments I’ve read from fans of other teams that said they wished their team had a coach like MCDC. As a Lions fan for the past 22yrs I am so greatful to be living in this time. Every year since I was a head in the clouds 10yr old who just wanted my Lions to win games and hoping every year it would turn around. Then stafford gave us hope but our GMs failed us over and over. I was going to give up on my Lions in 2020 and Shelia knew she had to do something and every move that has been made is exactly everything i was saying this team needed..GRIT! we're f'n Lions!! play like it! Take no sh*t and you get knocked down well you better get up and knock the other guy down and he better not get up. LET F'N GOOO LIONS!!!!!
About a week before I left Navy boot camp, we had a bad flu run through our ship(JFK) and I got stuck with quarterdeck duty for the first time. I'm there for about 5 minutes and in walks MCPON Campa and CNO Admiral Mullen.(Mullen became Chairman of the Joint Chiefs a few months later) I got challenge coins from both and never lost a challenge.(only participated in two)

Ty is a funny guy! MCDC is a great coach and a very unique one.
In MCDC YEAR 1 they celebrated their first win (making them 1-10-1) like it was a Super Bowl victory.
In MCDC YEAR 2 (having been eliminated from the playoffs) they played their last game like it was the super bowl. In Green Bay. VICTORY.
In MCDC YEAR 3 they won a playoff game, which that franchise had done only once since 1957. So far.
So lucky to have chuck on the show.
Coach P is freakin awesome. That speech had me fired up. Any NFL staff would be smart to have him on their team.
When they brought up how the team looks for character, it made me think of two other NFC North teams. Green Bay and Chicago. The Packers have also looked a lot at personal character for players, while the bears reach for whatever talent they can. One team missed the playoffs and talked trash, the other made it and swung with heavy weights

Damn! This is the first time I've ever heard someone explain EXACTLY what drives me and MCDC , - and now, The DEETROIT LIONS. But unfortunately, it's 12:30 am, and instead of heading to bed, I'm ready to run through a damned wall! So when you see our porous secondary getting absolutely torched, the team says "Ok, now it's time to grab the other team by the throat and deliver as many kill shots as it takes to get what we deserve and will take- WITH PREJUDICE. That's what winners do when the chips are down. They overcome it because they have the grit required to make it happen.
