The black-and-white footage and animation in the "Train Of Thought" video was the inspiration for the animation of "Take On Me." It originated as a college art project, and went on to influence the generation of MTV. The video concept was designed by the same producers of the "Take On Me" video.

The a-ha channel is the official RUclips home of the Norwegian Pop trio a-ha, who achieved global stardom in 1985 when their debut single, “Take On Me” from the album ‘Hunting High And Low’ topped the charts in 36 different countries on its way to becoming one of the best-selling singles of all time, and the 5th most streamed song of the 20th century. a-ha struck chart gold again with “The Sun Always Shines On T.V.” and “Cry Wolf,” and recorded the theme to the 1987 James Bond film “The Living Daylights”. The a-ha RUclips channel is proud to host the music videos from these hits alongside live performance videos, lyric videos, and the solo work of band members Morten Harket (lead vocals), Paul Waaktaar-Savoy (Guitar), and Magne Furuholmen (Keyboards).

I remember when the band broke through. "Take On Me" was on heavy rotation on MTV, and it's a brilliant pop hit of course - many people didn't realize how perfectly crafted it was, just because it was so catchy - but when this song came along as the third single, I knew at once there was far more to A-ha than "just" the next glamorous synth pop band, this one had a very different kind of sound. It's darker, more experimental, more relentless... the lyrics are about mental discontinuity or displacement, the whole track feels influenced by Bowie's late 1970s period - and hey, the guy appearing on the platform at 3:23 even looks like Bowie at the time! (compare with his video for "Absolute Beginners", filmed around that time.
People have been telling me that the man on the platform can't be a Bowie cameo, but I remain unconvinced -and there is actually a connection between them: Steve Barron directed videos for both Bowie and A-ha in the mid-eighties - he directed the clip for "Take On Me" - so he may have asked the icon to come along for a quick shot. Anyway, this is one of the best tracks on the entire album.

Gli aha su questo sono state certamente una band molto bella e più particolare rispetto a tante altre . Quindi si sono ben distinti da tutto il resto . Forza a-ha sempre . In my opinion, this is one of the greatest music videos to date. The lighting and cinematography on the band is beautiful, and the black and white gives it a timeless feel. I also think that the sketch animation tells a beautiful story about a lonely, depressed middle aged man. We don't know who he is or where he's from, but we feel for him, and I want to know more about his story. This video and song is the deepest and most meaningful thing A-ha's ever done. I think this was A-ha's best track out of their whole music catalog. It should have been a massive hit in the United States, but at least it peaked in the Top 10 in both the U.K. and their home country.

@@janettejennings2930 That makes me happy to hear. You are in for a treat, if you never heard their first 3-4 albums + the later ones. It was a period when they spent many years between each album, but the quality never gone down imo. You might want to listen to their later albums several times before you find "your" songs.

    Lyrics
He likes to have the morning papers
    Crossword solved
Words go up words come down
    Forwards backwards twisted round
He grabs a pile of letters from a small suitcase
    Disappears into an office
    It's another working day
And his thoughts are full of strangers
    Corridors of inked lights
And his mind once full of reason
Now there's more than meets the eye
Oh, a strangers face he carries with him
He likes a bit of reading on the subway home
A distant radio whistling tunes that nobody knows
At home a house awaits him
    He unlocks the door
Thinking once there was a sea here
But there never was a door
And his thoughts are full of strangers
And his eyes to numb to see
And nothing that he knows of
    And nowhere where he's been
    Was ever quite like this
    And his thoughts
    And at heart
    He's full of strangers
Dodging on his train of thought
    Train of thought
