  • The makers of "Night of the Living Dead" sans George A. Romero got together in 1998 and released a 30th Anniversary re-edit of the film. They removed a few minutes of the original footage and added several minutes of new footage along with a new soundtrack composed by the actor who played the Temu Anton LaVey preacher. Also in the new stuff is the original cemetery zombie played by the original actor Bill Hinzman who looks nothing like he did three decades earlier. The re-edit was made to not only celebrate the 30th anniversary of the original film but to keep a copyright and branch of the series into a new direction.
Well the end results are "It is what it is." The new footage despite being shot on the same equipment and film stock doesn't match very well with the original film and the new soundtrack sounds too similar to the old one. If you're going to re-edit the film you might well go full tilt boogie and make a cool gothic influenced one instead of a boring sound-a-like. Listen to Chicko watch NOTLD 30 and give you eager listener his views and opinions about it.
