Don't be a hater... Do that with a stock block, not a performance block, aluminum ect...the origional block that the car came with... impressive in my book!
Congratulations !! That's crazy fast.... V-6 Buick power, for the win!
CONGRATS JASON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LOL! People are so ignorant when it comes to GN. The block is probably older than some of the people questioning the video. The fact is the car is running 8s on a old tech V6 with 1 cam & 1 turbo.
I've been running these Buicks since 87. It is like playing Russian Roulette with the stock block. I am currently building a TA performance aluminum v6 block. It's big money 💰 fastest I ever ran with my stock block was 10.20s @ 134 mph. Didn't want to push it
congrats. new king of the hill.
That things moves out for a stock block.
there's a girdle installed in the block.
John Cook, your wrong. "Stock block" means that it's the original cast iron block that he's using that was mass produced from the factory for these cars. However, all the internals minus the block were aftermarket. This is impressive because he didn't have to buy an aluminum block and used the original setup. I know because I have and are using a "stock block" but all the innards are aftermarket "modified" parts.
turboquick6 Ya Idk me and most people think stock block means stock short block, with no aftermarket parts in the short block! Example - Like the stock block DSM 4g63 4cylinder record is over 650+whp, that's on a completely stock factory short block... everything from rod bolts to piston rings! 9 out of 10 stock block dyno and drag pass videos mean complete factory block and internals. Maybe do to the factory Buick block is known as a weak link and is said to only be able to handle roughly 500-600bhp, you guys mean just the actual block casting!?
turboquick6 I'm not trying to get into a pissing match but that's not really impressive at all.
your 650 whp 4g63 doesnt make piss for torque though, and not at the low rpms 3.8 buicks do.
Russell Mostrom and how many pounds of boost does it need to make to make 650 probably pushing right around 50 -60 lb boost
Russell Mostrom I'm running stock 109 block no girdle stock rods 19 lb of boost making 550 at the wheels
nice run. what sort of cam profile you running? we have a later model v6 here in Aus and are testing different cams atm.
he says "stock block" not "stock motor"
a stock block would be the motor that the car came with! we all know that a stock motor can run 11's all day long. however a stock block can run in the 8s if built properly, which this motor was.
my dads 86 has a stock motor in it and a TE-45 turbo and it ran 11.70's the motor has 87,XXX miles on it and has never been touched besides valve springs.
i have an 87 that has a "stock block" but the motor has been built, and it will run 10's all day
How long did this setup last on the stock block?
Still going and there are several others running in the 8's with the 109 block. John Plog owns the record, 8.71 at 153. The 3800 series II block has ran in the 8's on both RWD and FWD platform and they are using the stock crank and mains caps. The 3800 series II/III block can make and handle more, it comes down to people wanting to spend the money on an aftermarket crank. The only one available is a billet crank which cost like $3k. I'm slowly gathering the parts to build an 80's turbo Regal with 3800 series II block and 4l80 transmission. This will be in addition to my GN.
I stand corrected fastest 109 block - 8.681 @ 154.63 Richie Balcom 2/11/2016 *ET & MPH Record.
John has the stock iron head record, obviously the heads are ported - 8.965 @ 147.67 John Plog 10/18/2013 *Iron Head ET&MPH Record
Hmmmm, thats defiantly not an after market block. So that is what is meant by stock block jackazzzzz
