Cammy's style of holding to his opinions when backed by reasonable facts and arguments, regardless of what the masses think, means he will always have a harder time picking up followers. But I believe there are a bunch of us out there that enjoy this kind of commentary. I definitely don't agree with some of the things cammy says, but I respect the hell out him, and know that his thoughts are based in reality, and not group think, pandering, or complainy-pants.

Right now RUclips's algorithm "along with strick changes and deminatization" makes it very difficult for the majority of RUclips's to get any regeneration "regardless how many years they spend creating content" Due to the fact there's also nothing original anymore on RUclips, the computation is very steep "making it extremely more tedious for any RUclipsr to gain more numbers than they deserve"
Ya, that too, but that's something all of the smaller D2 content creators are having to deal with. I feel bad for some of the people trying to make a living through youtube, who have to deal with whatever arbitrary decisions youtube decides to make. YOu can just hear the frustration oozing out of guys like Byf, who is actually in a fairly reasonable position with his subs. But to have youtube changing the rules on you when you have worked hard to put yourself in a stable position must be super frustrating.

Forget about trying to process and learn from it. They want pretty, 5-10 minute videos with clickbait thumbnails from creators they identify with, like MesaSean, an average player despite playing the game for a living, having a zero-latency setup most dedicated players would kill for, and being in a top-tier PvP clan. Cammy's channel, while growing, remains niche content. Brilliant and thoughtful, but niche nonetheless. Same with Drew. These guys have been great, inventive players for years, yet it took them until a few months ago to guest on the only D2 PvP podcast. Why? Their names aren't Triplewreck, Lupo, or Hovey. The crazy thing is the old guard wants no part of RUclips. Datto posts one 6 minute video about PvE buff and debuff stacking. Ehroar from Redeem has been testing and covering that stuff for months. For the big names RUclips seems almost a burden when most of their income is generated by Twitch. Once you have the recognition, where's the incentive to deal with their bullshit? Cammy has an understanding of this game that's brilliant. I think many just write off his content as being not relatable because they can't take away larger points from his examples. That requires thought, which is in generally short supply in all gaming communities. A shame...

What Cammy is trying to tell you is by no means is this game competitive. Being that Bungie has chosen to match randoms vs Teams in the same game in quickplay. There is almost absolutely no you will out play 4 shotguners bunched up running you down. Have fun and chill it's just a game.

Shotguns are stronger now than they ever were in D1. Not because of the shotties themselves, but because of primaries and ammo. You can run shotties the whole match, and every primary other than the last word kills painfully slower than in D1, or required a much higher precision to reach slightly slower ttk values. Also, no sidearms. Sidearms had way faster ttk than master of arms recluse.

If you're talking about the Telesto, then please note that fusion rifle scavenger perks don't work with Telesto. This is to balance the game a little more. With all other fusion rifles, scavengers do work, though.

Smuggler's Word is my favorite sidearm in history. I want a Rangefinder-Ricochet drop so badly. Just push out that range and body people for 66 per burst. It's like a poor-man's The Last Word. 👌

Most of my problems with shotguns stem with how people just depend on them for kills, be it for better or worse. It could be a really garbage teamate who feeds the enemy special ammo, and in turn, let's the enemy team farm my blueberries. And also how there is no distinct range difference for shotguns. In Destiny 1, you would have to either be a Titan with Immobius or be completely new to shotguns to ever consider using anything that wasn't a party crasher or matador. No one used any shotgun with any less impact than the two mentioned above. Unless you used a Chappy or Lord of Wolves. Or Uni, but that thing was nerfed monthly, surprised it even shot at the end of D1. In Destiny 2, rapid fire frame shotguns are just better than aggressive frame shotguns. Aggressive don't have a distinct enough advantage to make them worthwhile. Hell, Cam, you didn't even put Toil and Trouble, not even the rank 14 nightfall one. I hope it only slipped your mind, and even then, why use a shotgun that can punish bad pellet rng due to slow rate of fire over a spam shotgun, which is almost everything nowadays. I should go so far to say that, some weapon types have been nearly abandoned in Forsaken. Aggressive frame handcannons? Why go for a potential 2 tap only to be let down by the tiniest sliver of health left, when you can use a spam cannon for easy 4 taps or Ace for guaranteed 3 taps? Again, aggressive frame cannons have a distinct advantage, which should be a range advantage. Although the illusion of more weapon diversity is there, there is simply just more weapons, and players will find what is popular and easy to use and play it. And it becomes very noticable. The most oddball thing I've seen is a 6 man team in quickplay all running bows. It worked wonders on blueberries because they just sat back and team shot the poor things like animals in a cage. But I was happy because they weren't using shotguns. I appreciate that stuff. But it's a different story when you see a 6 man stack farming blueberries. With Aces and shotguns. Why? Inflate your KD that you will brag about in comp only to quit your match early after a potential 3-0 in breakthrough? Fun game, you can farm sweaties in that. They get pushed. I guess what I'm trying to say is that, some weapons are left out of the meta, at this point in time, aggressive frame handcannons, autorifles, smgs, shotguns, snipers (since they can't even seem to 1 shot headshot a super), and possibly 1 more. Also, keep in mind some of your audiance plays console, they don't have the luxary of point and click with 0 recoil like you and I do, yeah? Cool, nice video by the way, lots of time and effort.
Auto rifles are still as good as they were at launch, it’s just that everyone’s found an alternative. For me though, nothing tops the feeling of mowing people down with a high-impact auto. God DAMN.
I love these longer videos. They bring out the memes in you regardless if they're cheezy sometimes. They make you more relatabley human and less gaurdian eating machine. Also i learn so much more

Using an Empowering Rift, waiting for the idiots to rush, calmly ADSing my Overcharged Sturm before deleting their heads from existence... PURE BLISS EDIT: But honestly though, shotguns are borderline obnoxious. I was losing a Comp game by about 20 points, decided to put on Hawthorne's for a push. I just asked my teammates to draw fire while I rushed in, killed the first two, Transversive Steps refilled my mag, got the team wipe. We won the game... 1 SHOTGUN PLAY CAUSED A 20 PTS COMEBACK!
Lol shotgun take skill to use actually,you have to get close to your opponent and even if you do and shoot it doesnt always kill normally getting your self kill,oh no luna howl, is annoying and trust me you cant use anything to match it

Cammy my man, the main problem with this video is it requires people to think outside the box. Using problem solving skills most people don't have. This video is the perfect example of how Cammy thinks. Problem with shotguns? Cammy- Use risk runner, wish-ender, fighting lion, coldheart, anti-shotgun tactics or a better shotgun. Problem with shotguns? Everyone else- there is no counter. It's like trying to teach trigonometry to a potato. But who knows, maybe someone will learn something.
Daniel you are right. My experience with PvP (especially on that damned Redrix quest with one more reset), adapt and find counter that suit your play style. Glad I learned that lesson quick.
Alex Pinkowish the new crucible one is good but I love the dreaming city one the best. Throw on an icarus mod and jump when you see a shotgunner. They should be dead when you hit the ground.

This is one of the best PvP videos I have ever seen. There are combos here that I haven't considered & I am extremely anti meta. Orewing's Maul is underrated. Somehow I forgot all about Lucky Pants. I’d like shotguns to get a handling nerf, maybe even remove slide shot because that’s infuriating. And for fusions to get a hit detection buff, I’ve dealt with some crazy ghost bullets. They’re pretty consistent for the most part, but the ghost bullets fucks things up. And especially for Fighting Lion’s catalyst to come out so I can destroy kids even more.
Handling for shotguns is so good and so fast, you can shoot on the very first frame of your slide. Don’t believe me? Try slide-shotting a shotgun (or a grenade launcher haven’t tried a breech charge) in a non-lethal combat area (Spider, Ana Bray, Rasputin, Failsafe, etc.).
Cammy, I know you probably hear this a lot, but you’re seriously such a good player. I just came back to D2 at the end of season 3 after a long hiatus from the start of D2 to a mess in the crucible. I have about 7,000 hours of D1 PvP under my belt, but coming to pc was a huge learning curve for me. I’ve watched basically all your videos and started seeing the game in a whole different light and you’ve pulled me out of my shotgun warrior days into a much more patient and thoughtful player. I have seen a complete overhaul of my abilities including a huge jump to my KD going from an easily 1.2 to a 1.95 in a matter of 3-4 months. Thank you so much for everything you do.
I think it's just using whatever you have the most fun with. Shotguns really aren't that deadly, until you get into ridiculous rolls that let you kill at 14+ m with aggressive frame shotguns. I feel like people complain about shotguns because they have the highest skillfloor allowing a potato to still frag out. Meaning that when someone gets killed by them they're annoyed/ashamed they got killed by a potato with no skill.
Wow, for the first time I saw cammy not use an optimal technique. At least on Xbox with a bow, you can press the button to cancel your draw and immediately draw again. It resets the timer and takes about a quarter of a second to do. Cammy just shot he wall once the time ran out
Man Cammy, on top of being one of my favorite youtubers just because of your personality, you do one thing for me that not many others can. You make me wanna play again. After I get trashed, or after a bad couple games, or a bad comp session with many four stacks (almost got that Luna’s because of you, already fabled, just need 40 more persicion kills then it’s mine), my point is, watching your videos makes me just wanna play more, just to hit it harder until the shotgunning guys don’t want to play anymore because of me instead of vice versa, but hey man, long message aside... just, thank you 😊

Have you tried blocking shotgun with a sword? Or does it completely destroys the sword cause they are pointless except of the 3rd person. In D1, when I got a sword, I just keep it, stay alive and profit. See a shotguner? Say hello to him, block his shotgun shot and counter attack. But, of course, you can use..... edge transit..... Seriously, why people find that countering shotgun is hard? Most of the time, those shotgun apes are stupider than a fly who tries to get out of a window. They have such a tunnel vision that it's unbelieavable. Just back pedal, jump on top of them and juke them. Kupo!
Those are good strategies, but, believe it or not, some people are actually bad at using swords and grenade launchers. I would know the gl thing. Also, most of the time you're being killed by a shotgun, you're actually going to be going to the heavy ammo.

Personally, id like to see a gameplay commentary featuring a couple of the builds you mentioned. What piqued my interest in particular? Well, since you asked.... STOMPEE control jump float baiting, & Jemini Jesters, sticky grenade, grenade launcher combos. Just learn to snipe up close or in close quarters. Takes ALOT of practice but I've mastered the art of being an aggressive sniper player with deadly precision aim and it's a slap in the face to all those shotgunners that just laugh and think of snipers as a joke until they get humiliated by pure skill and eventually leads to them calling aimbot or cheats. That also pisses me off when they get dicked on so hard even when they use the best shotguns in the game they just assume I'm hacking or whatever because I'm using a sniper when I obviously just out skill them.
Who needs sniper? A Bow is all I need. One Quick-Crit shot and switch to another weapon to finish them off. And if I am a try hard for that match for any reason, I would be running a Kinetic Shotgun, Energy Bow, and a Sword (preferably the new Talon sword but I don’t have it)
Zack Zander That's exactly what I do with a sniper rifle. In my opinion bows are easier versions of the sniper rifle even though I still haven't bought forsaken yet.
Milkydromeda 7 Unless you don’t even have a Bow, it’s no good to use a Sniper and Shotgun IMO, a Bow is a bit easier and harder to use than a Sniper since you can’t really one shot and you need to charge it up. On the other hand, it’s a bit easier to aim with.

Good video. I however think shotguns could still use a.... 🤭 (gasp)...nerf. The range is insane for how fast you can close a gap for kill distance. Shotgun apes force you to play differently to a point you have to make videos about it or encourage people to stop getting shotgunned via non primary options. It’s just incredibly annoying at the moment to be honest.
Slow it down to .25 and you'll see that as he was coming back up from his crouch, he let the arrow fly when it was nearest to the Titan's head. If it was on purpose, Cammy truly has the aim of gods.
Gunplay on pvp just feels awful on console, look at the difference in recoil and flinch between pc and console, console has this unnecessary high recoil unlike pc. I know you can be more precise on pc cause I play most of my fps on pc except for destiny cause I had already played and had a bunch of progress.
I play on PC now so I don't know how similiar snipers are in D2 compared to D1 but if they have as much aim assist as they did in D1 then i recommend using them on console and take advantage of that aim assist. That shit was like borderline aim hacks back in the day.
No snipers are fucking ass in d2 I went back to d1 to see why did i love to use the snipers... Did a 38 kill match with icebreaker lmao and in d2 i cant even fucking kill people consistently with the sniper.
what do you do if they are a skilled shotgun rusher. Would the 0.43 second kill combos be necessary? also how did u switch and shoot so fast with the sniper hand cannon combo. Was it a quick sprint cancel?

This is a damn good analysis, way more in depth than I could’ve come close to. If bungle fixed the net code so you didn’t have wack trades where you shotgun each other or die to a melee from a dead enemy a lot of the complaints would die off. If they could accomplish that and make it so the lagging enemy is at a disadvantage instead of a huge advantage there’d be little to no basis for complaints when it comes to shotguns, with the exception of chaperone
Good vid bro as a shotgunner this was very informative ;) (helping the enemy without even knowing mahaha😈). I main a shotgun but i dont camp(those shotgunner suck) i run and gun. The main thing i do is run with my shotgun stowed and let people see me then lure them into a false sense of security as i turn and run away. They almost always follow and "bang" i flanked around from behind and got the kill. I can agree that the Sturm and draig is one of the best combos against a shotgunner i always have issues when going against somebody with it. When i see someone like that i wait till my team is near and sneak up while crouched. When the enemy is focus on somebody else even if it's just for a second (that's all it takes) "bang" guardian down. You gave me alot to think about in this vid....hope to see you all in The Crucible. Ill be the Titan shotgunner not acting like a typical shotgunner✌😈 (art of war, learn of ones weakness from observing your enemy's strengths)

Awesome video. Been saying pretty much the same sentiments since 2015. Also a lot of the lessons you give here are not only applicable to countering shotguns, but any "omg that weapon isn't fair" I wish I could build a time machine and discuss Thorn with you at its peak because it was in my opinion the easiest counter of any meta weapon in the game. Most of my problems with shotguns stem with how people just depend on them for kills, be it for better or worse. It could be a really garbage teamate who feeds the enemy special ammo, and in turn, let's the enemy team farm my blueberries. And also how there is no distinct range difference for shotguns. In Destiny 1, you would have to either be a Titan with Immobius or be completely new to shotguns to ever consider using anything that wasn't a party crasher or matador. No one used any shotgun with any less impact than the two mentioned above. Unless you used a Chappy or Lord of Wolves. Or Uni, but that thing was nerfed monthly, surprised it even shot at the end of D1. In Destiny 2, rapid fire frame shotguns are just better than aggressive frame shotguns. Aggressive don't have a distinct enough advantage to make them worthwhile. Hell, Cam, you didn't even put Toil and Trouble, not even the rank 14 nightfall one. I hope it only slipped your mind, and even then, why use a shotgun that can punish bad pellet rng due to slow rate of fire over a spam shotgun, which is almost everything nowadays. I should go so far to say that, some weapon types have been nearly abandoned in Forsaken. Aggressive frame handcannons? Why go for a potential 2 tap only to be let down by the tiniest sliver of health left, when you can use a spam cannon for easy 4 taps or Ace for guaranteed 3 taps? Again, aggressive frame cannons have a distinct advantage, which should be a range advantage. Although the illusion of more weapon diversity is there, there is simply just more weapons, and players will find what is popular and easy to use and play it. And it becomes very noticable. The most oddball thing I've seen is a 6 man team in quickplay all running bows. It worked wonders on blueberries because they just sat back and team shot the poor things like animals in a cage. But I was happy because they weren't using shotguns. I appreciate that stuff. But it's a different story when you see a 6 man stack farming blueberries. With Aces and shotguns. Why? Inflate your KD that you will brag about in comp only to quit your match early after a potential 3-0 in breakthrough? Fun game, you can farm sweaties in that. They get pushed. I guess what I'm trying to say is that, some weapons are left out of the meta, at this point in time, aggressive frame handcannons, autorifles, smgs, shotguns, snipers (since they can't even seem to 1 shot headshot a super), and possibly 1 more. Also, keep in mind some of your audiance plays console, they don't have the luxary of point and click with 0 recoil like you and I do, yeah? Cool, nice video by the way, lots of time and effort.

I love it when you don't stop uploading. Everyday I see my favorite Destiny PVP youtuber post a video and it makes me happy.
Cammy my man, the main problem with this video is it requires people to think outside the box. Using problem solving skills most people don't have. This video is the perfect example of how Cammy thinks. Problem with shotguns? Cammy- Use risk runner, wish-ender, fighting lion, coldheart, anti-shotgun tactics or a better shotgun. Problem with shotguns? Everyone else- there is no counter. It's like trying to teach trigonometry to a potato. But who knows, maybe someone will learn something.
Daniel you are right. My experience with PvP (especially on that damned Redrix quest with one more reset), adapt and find counter that suit your play style. Glad I learned that lesson quick.

Handling for shotguns is so good and so fast, you can shoot on the very first frame of your slide. Don’t believe me? Try slide-shotting a shotgun (or a grenade launcher haven’t tried a breech charge) in a non-lethal combat area (Spider, Ana Bray, Rasputin, Failsafe, etc.).
Cammy, I know you probably hear this a lot, but you’re seriously such a good player.
I just came back to D2 at the end of season 3 after a long hiatus from the start of D2 to a mess in the crucible.
I have about 7,000 hours of D1 PvP under my belt, but coming to pc was a huge learning curve for me.
I’ve watched basically all your videos and started seeing the game in a whole different light and you’ve pulled me out of my shotgun warrior days into a much more patient and thoughtful player.
I have seen a complete overhaul of my abilities including a huge jump to my KD going from an easily 1.2 to a 1.95 in a matter of 3-4 months.

for me the best counter is using a rangefinder pulse and sniper, because you naturally play farther away from the shotguns
I think it's just using whatever you have the most fun with. Shotguns really aren't that deadly, until you get into ridiculous rolls that let you kill at 14+ m with aggressive frame shotguns.
I feel like people complain about shotguns because they have the highest skillfloor allowing a potato to still frag out. Meaning that when someone gets killed by them they're annoyed/ashamed they got killed by a potato with no skill.

Wow, for the first time I saw cammy not use an optimal technique. At least on Xbox with a bow, you can press the button to cancel your draw and immediately draw again. It resets the timer and takes about a quarter of a second to do. Cammy just shot he wall once the time ran out

Have you tried blocking shotgun with a sword? Or does it completely destroys the sword cause they are pointless except of the 3rd person. In D1, when I got a sword, I just keep it, stay alive and profit. See a shotguner? Say hello to him, block his shotgun shot and counter attack.

Seriously, why people find that countering shotgun is hard? Most of the time, those shotgun apes are stupider than a fly who tries to get out of a window. They have such a tunnel vision that it's unbelieavable. Just back pedal, jump on top of them and juke them.

Those are good strategies, but, believe it or not, some people are actually bad at using swords and grenade launchers. I would know the gl thing. Also, most of the time you're being killed by a shotgun, you're actually going to be going to the heavy ammo.

Just learn to snipe up close or in close quarters. Takes ALOT of practice but I've mastered the art of being an aggressive sniper player with deadly precision aim and it's a slap in the face to all those shotgunners that just laugh and think of snipers as a joke until they get humiliated by pure skill and eventually leads to them calling aimbot or cheats.
That also pisses me off when they get dicked on so hard even when they use the best shotguns in the game they just assume I'm hacking or whatever because I'm using a sniper when I obviously just out skill them.

IMO, a Bow is a bit easier and harder to use than a Sniper since you can’t really one shot and you need to charge it up.
On the other hand, it’s a bit easier to aim with.

Good video. I however think shotguns could still use a.... 🤭 (gasp)...nerf. The range is insane for how fast you can close a gap for kill distance. Shotgun apes force you to play differently to a point you have to make videos about it or encourage people to stop getting shotgunned via non primary options. It’s just incredibly annoying at the moment to be honest.

Gunplay on pvp just feels awful on console, look at the difference in recoil and flinch between pc and console, console has this unnecessary high recoil unlike pc. I know you can be more precise on pc cause I play most of my fps on pc except for destiny cause I had already played and had a bunch of progress.

I play on PC now so I don't know how similiar snipers are in D2 compared to D1 but if they have as much aim assist as they did in D1 then i recommend using them on console and take advantage of that aim assist. That shit was like borderline aim hacks back in the day.
No snipers are fucking ass in d2 I went back to d1 to see why did i love to use the snipers... Did a 38 kill match with icebreaker lmao and in d2 i cant even fucking kill people consistently with the sniper.
I used other snipers too but I decided to use icebreaker because it was exotic lol

FYI you can press reload while your bow is drawn to cancel the arrow without firing. keeps noise down if you want to avoid firing shots at walls.
I, for one, love the fact you mathed out move distances.
Also, I've seen lots of people resorting to rocking a silent and rather unobtrusive emote for similar uses of peeking around corners.

This is a damn good analysis, way more in depth than I could’ve come close to. If bungle fixed the net code so you didn’t have wack trades where you shotgun each other or die to a melee from a dead enemy a lot of the complaints would die off. If they could accomplish that and make it so the lagging enemy is at a disadvantage instead of a huge advantage there’d be little to no basis for complaints when it comes to shotguns, with the exception of chaperone
Good vid bro as a shotgunner this was very informative ;) (helping the enemy without even knowing mahaha😈). I main a shotgun but i dont camp(those shotgunner suck) i run and gun. The main thing i do is run with my shotgun stowed and let people see me then lure them into a false sense of security as i turn and run away. They almost always follow and "bang" i flanked around from behind and got the kill. I can agree that the Sturm and draig is one of the best combos against a shotgunner i always have issues when going against somebody with it. When i see someone like that i wait till my team is near and sneak up while crouched. When the enemy is focus on somebody else even if it's just for a second (that's all it takes) "bang" guardian down. You gave me alot to think about in this vid....hope to see you all in The Crucible. Ill be the Titan shotgunner not acting like a typical shotgunner✌😈 (art of war, learn of ones weakness from observing your enemy's strengths)
