Nice jig Rob. I like the addition of the sacrificial board in the middle and adding the angle finder.
THANK YOU for noticing that. I had written in some clarification for why I did that but cut it out due to the overall length. That sacrificial board is crucial as you'll destroy the jig within a few uses. Now I just need to grab a 4" x 6" x 1/2" scrap and I'm good to go.
You come up with some of the coolest jigs I swear! Great build! Keep building and I’ll keep watching!

Two boring videos in a row?!😆 Neat jig Rob! The head on my drill press swivels for making them fancy angular type holes but I rarely make any!

Yeah, my Ridgid drill press table swivels as well, but I really didn't want to have to get into the habit of squaring it up every time.
But you brought up an interesting question that I had been thinking about: Do we not make "fancy" angular holes because they're not needed...or because we haven't programmed our brain to think of how to use them?
I say that because the measuring cup rack I made could very easily have used straight pegs...but using the angles gives it a slightly classier look.
I dunno, something I thought about during the build.

The drill head itself tilts on my radial press so the table can stay level for angles up to 45. I know exactly what you mean about resetting the table after tilting, it's a hassle!

Super cool design. Well done. Maybe you could put a slot into each of the back props, and a hand-wheel clamp between them instead of the g-clamp. But again, really cool design. 👍👍
Thanks Rob! I really like that idea (I really do!) but the amount of pressure the drill "press" uses makes adding slots complicated. I'm saying that after adding that one slot which really weakened the wood strength. It's hard maple, so I'm not that concerned with it, but drilling with a 2" forstner bit probably couldn't happen with any other slots.
Honestly, I need to find a better clamp. The clamp I used was cumbersome and either hit the drill press column or the inside of the jig. If you have any suggestions, let me know, I'm always open to ideas.
@@MakeThings Yeah, It's tricky, given that you really want it to be infinitely adjustable, rather than step-wise, so a ratchet system wouldn't really work. I'll have a bit of a think, and if i come up with any ideas, I'll let you know. Cheers.
@@robmatthewswoodturning4988 Thanks, I always appreciate upgrades. If you figure something out I'll credit you in a future video with the upgrade. And yes, you could make positive stops but it makes micro adjusting a little more difficult.

Thanks John. It’s an iGaging digital compass. It’s great for getting a good precise sphere...as long as you don’t mind the lead sliding around.
Hey man awesome jig as usual! That tractor you put on there was super pro! 😎 Question - is the ruler used for measuring or just for the angle dial? And does your drill table itself tilt like some do? (I guess not?) And oh yeah I get what the insert is for and tell me if I'm wrong - it's a spoil board so you can drill it's brains out and just replace it when it dies?
Yes, yes and for measuring the angle. My drill press table does rotate but it's currently locked in position I don't like using it because I have to square the table (unsquare tables are soooo evil) and you run into the column too often with longer stock (at least mine does as it shifts left and right and not fowards and backwards). Short pieces would definitely work but otherwise it's kind of a useless feature in my shop and set up.
