  • Hip fashion boutiques and indie bookshops are probably not the first things that come to mind about Macau. But behind the glitzy entertainment complexes, a cultural phenomenon is forming.
Macau-born fashion designer Steven Tai spent his teenage years and much of his adult life overseas. After graduating from London’s prestigious arts college Central Saint Martins, he went on to establish a successful career in fashion design. He ran his own brand for about 10 years before deciding to follow his heart and move back to Macau, where he is now growing his family’s garment factory business and getting reacquainted with his birthplace.
He was pleasantly surprised to find a growing community of creative young people who are following their dreams by opening boutiques and shops. Their eclectic businesses showcase a new identity for Macau: young and cosmopolitan, but still proud of the local history. We follow Steven as he shows some of his favorite places to shop in the city.

Hi Steve, thank you for the tour of Macau. As a retired graphic designer I used to spend all my time looking on design books from all over the world for inspiration. Been to HK many times but wish I had visited Macau also. Take Care and thanks again for the short tour of Macau. “ Happy Chinese New Year.” 🙏🙏🙏🐉🐲🎉🥂🧨💥🪭🥡🥢🧧
