I get that his arm is also a weapon, but they could've handled it better. Not only did they put some safeguards to use against him, presumably without his knowledge (which... isn't much better than how Hydra treated him..), but they've chosen them to be THIS. They could've powered the arm down so it has the strength of a his other, flesh and blood arm, or something... He'd still be strong because supersoldier serum and stuff, but that would've been understandable from a strategic point of view. The way it is it's just cruel and encroaches on a heavily traumatized man's bodily autonomy. And WS was already an apt allegory of a r*ped woman both in how his abusers and the world treated him, so wtf does that say about Wakandans, that they knew the full extent of his trauma, and still decided to treat him this way? So I wouldn’t say that his character was destroyed in Endgame, but as soon as I saw fat Thor, I understood the direction that the MCU would take with him going forward. It was an early warning sign.
The biggest gripe I had about Fat Thor was not with Thor himself, it was how the writers treated it as a joke. "Haha! He's fat! Nevermind the psychological and emotional trauma he's just been through and the immense guilt he harbors over Thanos' victory! He's FAT! It's funny!"
@@Sarah_H Endgame is perhaps the biggest waste of the MCU. Oh sure they made ton of money but after Infinity War they could have made a film so better than that. It’s a shame because the She-Hulk comic’s were good, you had a far better Jennifer Walters, and her superhero origin was neat. It showed a strong relationship between her and Bruce.
@SuperJeffyJunior Same. She Hulk is my favorite female Marvel character and I was angry when Alison Brie didn't get cast because, besides not being 5'10". she's perfect for the role. But she dodged a giant green bullet here. She Hulk is literally the worst show I've ever seen in my life, and that's maybe only because I've never watched Velma or The Witcher Blood Origin.
Honestly after everything he's been through, Thor having a panic attack is understandable. But the fact they made it a "funny" scene is what wastes it.
Hulk got it the worst cuz the origins of his powers are literally rooted in childhood trauma and they are acting like she-hulk has it worse.. in the comics its meant to parralel, becoming green was a horrible curse for him but a blessing for her and was one of the things earlier on that made him realise the curse wasnt entirely horrible as it saved his cousin's life. and eventually overtime lead to the bruce-hulk dynamic becoming more stable probably the healthiest way to deal with the hulk tbh rather than trying to kill them off or take them over completely.
@@Dullahan161 kinda hillarious as before she became she hulk she was in the comics meek, and considered herself unattractive. that line is out of character if it was the same she hulk from the comics.
0:41 - At least someone is giving Captain America: Civil War the respect it deserves! It is more than just Avengers 2.5! It is an introspection into who Steve is, what drives him, how far he is willing to go, and how his ideology clashes with everyone around him, especially with Tony. Just because someone is the protagonist does not mean he is 100% in the right, and this film is one of the best examples of that.
Thor was both equally comedic and serious in Ragnarok and infinity war. But in endgame he is treated like a joke and doesn’t get a payoff with thanos after what happened in infinity war.
Disney first destroyed George Lucas’ masterpiece of Star Wars with a storyline that made absolutely no sense and then Marvel by killing off all the good characters which clearly destroyed Stan Lee’s creation. I am a Star Wars Legends fan and a fan of the storyline of the Marvel comics that are not owned by Disney. Then again, there are mostly always someone dying in a Disney movie which is utterly creepy. I will always love the Avengers 2012 movie because that time I had hope that we would see more of our childhood heroes face off new enemies and see events which were based in the comics. Too bad none of this happened because of Disney. 😕
Worst things MCU has done to its characters/worst new heroes: 1) Making Thor love and thunder so incredibly silly and joke filled that none of them are at all concerned about the kids literally held captive in a dark world, Thor is so lighthearted and unburdened you'd think he was pre Thor 1 film where he was the prince of Asgard and just spent his days having fun and fighting battles, having some of the most traumatic shit in the universe made fun of, like Hela who literally is responsible for slaughtering the soldiers of Asgard and driving them into caves for safety, or Infinity stone ice cream, as if this isn't the equivalent of making a hitler themed ice cream store. 2) She hulk, instead of the comics great character, we get a vapid, arrogant, entitled, selfish lawyer who mocks the avengers despite them literally saving the universe and earth several times including from Thanos who was about to shred the universe and end everyone on earth, refuses to take cases unless they pay tons, is such a bad lawyer she doesn't even ask for basic details from her client about what happened, catfishes people, fakes being a avenger so she can get free clothes, does not do any heroics at all and only saves the court jury from Titania upon heavy prodding from her friend, and belittles her cousin despite his many many traumas and hard life and fact he literally willed half of all humanity back in existence, and to top it all off she then uses cheat code to get a incredibly unfair happy ending despite learning nothing, doing nothing heroic or some sacrifice. 3) Making Sam Wilson kick the dog while it's down by selling the shield to the US after accepting it from Steve who wanted him to have it and be his replacement, then get mad when they make their own replacement, then sympathise with the terrorists so much he genuinely can't understand why John would be mad at Karli for murdering his best friend in cold blood and tells the government not to call them terrorists despite them blowing buildings up, destroying property, stealing, burning innocent people alive, planning to murder a entire convoy of senators just to make a statement And this is after she threatens his sister and her family by saying she might pay a visit and kill them. 4) Wanda post endgame, they really double down on going "Oh no, she's not a bad person, she's done nothing wrong". Mmm, holding a town hostage under mind control knowingly does not say good person. 5) Cassie becoming such a unlikeable generic super scientist that she belittles her dad as if he hasn't literally spent 5 years in quantum realm stuck and then had to undo the Snap and fight Thanos. 6) Riri Williams and Wakanda Forever, she's so smart she can somehow make a vibranium detector with no vibranium, rips off Tony Stark but isn't even a fan of him in MCU, can't get a job but can build a super garage full of shit, she has zero hesitation in shooting cops in the face with beams or blowing them all up on the bridge, like she's got a body count before the film is halfway done, she gets off scot free for these actions and has zero remorse. Meanwhile Namor literally genocides Wakanda, murders the queen and plans to wipe it out, yet apparently Shuri is ok with just allying with him against the world after that, also T'Challa's goal to change and be better and help others is thrown out the window as the Queen just shuts it all down, they refuse to share any vibranium, and are so arrogant and nonsensical in this that they really all accept teaming up with the nation that attacked them, killed their beloved queen and murdered countless people.
And this is why we can never ever forgive Disney. They have completely butchered Hulk, no wonder Edward Norton refused to come back to reprise his role of Hulk, he knew the character of Hulk and knew that Disney would ruin him, in fact those who made The Incredible Hulk (2008 movie aka the only serious marvel movie ever with extremely toned down comedy) were legit Hulk fans, and for those who wonder why we haven’t had a Hulk solo movie since 2008 is because universal has the rights to make one but they’re is no chance in hell that Universal will let Disney make one. The MCU is shit and always has been since Disney fucked everything up.
Endgame Thor was good as a representation of Thor's depression and self loathing and it gave Chris Hemsworth a chance to do something different. The fatal mistake was taking 'comedy Thor' and removing any form of intensity, emotional nuance or badassery and fully making him a kiddy joke character.
The Disney Marvel writers were proud that they didn't even read the source material. They are supposed to be writers. These are writers who can't even be bothered to read comic books of all things. It doesn't seem like they read at all. And it shows in the quality of writing they produce. Writers who don't even read.
I respect falcon and all as Captain America, but what he said about stop calling them terrorists, yeah he should’ve not said that, because like no matter what he saw, them exploding buildings and killing people, that’s the legal definition of terrorism 💀
Why the hell MCU think that insulting old good characters is the best way of gaining love and respect for new characters. And like they dont even have personality at all. Just some group of arrogant and toxic Mary Sue and self-inserts. Hope Thanos will come back and finish this mess.

Honestly I think Loki was the least effected. I understand people’s hate for the Loki show but the character development sorta makes sense 🤷 Though it was way too fast and he definitely should still be more sinister like he was in S2. Can’t say the same for Thor, oh boy 😂 he reversed his character arc from the first movie. I feel like most of the other characters they had done dirty; I have a hard time watching ANY of the new movies (except for Guardians of the Galaxy 3 ❤) and it’s really unfortunate..
I agree with you @@Droidekka I just wish he remained a bit more sinister and didn't just give everything up to become a savior. That's not Loki. The new movies and shows just create opening for loved characters to exit through and never return so that new (awful) characters can have their moment and shine. It's not gonna work though unforutnately. I love soft Loki but Sylvie is very annoying as a character and she's not gonna sit well as the "new loki" which is what Marvel heads are trying to do.
Star lords “you missed the first time” in endgame is definitely one of the worst. It completely undercuts the seriousness and stakes of the final battle
“Let the past die, kill it if you have to” Unfortunately this is what happens when Disney take over a franchise, with no real interest in crafting good stories. Money making is always the priority with them. Hopefully now they’re starting to stumble in the box office, they’ll be forced to take time and care when writing their movies / tv shows.
I wouldn’t recommend the current comics, but I agree that the characters in some comics (especially those published in the 90’s) are really well written and established.
i disagree with fat thor being bad, he literally lost everything but korg (his father, his home, his people, his brother, his best friend, his weapon) and for 5 years lived with the guilt of failing the entire universe, hes broken during 99% of endgame
Thing is, in civil war bucky and steve were hitting METAL, not Tony, so Tony should've taken 0 damage and couldve did everything to beat em up in minutes, like fly and use chest beam or something. At least they kept her promiscuity, but it makes even less sense here considering how much she despises all men.
Exactly. Before TFATWS, his skin colour was never brought up, because it wasn't what made his character cool. In TFATWS, a minute doesn't go by without Falcon saying "black".

Really disappointing that Phase 4 basically turned Thor from a cool, serious god to a “lol quirky” bumbling idiot

Season 2 not only did make Loki the main character: he wasn't using much magic but most decisions were made by him and take centre stage, but also had Sylvie accept her mistake and go back to him. It wasn't woke it was good writing

I also didn't like how the Dora Milage took away his freaking ARM without his consent. That's so dehumanizing, humiliating. He wasn't even a threat at the moment, not really.
In every sense of the word he is disabled. That's like kicking the wheelchair from underneath someone who has no legs, for fun. I feel like I'm the only one who thought that Thor's character wasn't destroyed in endgame. He lost everything and feels like it's his fault so I think it's logical for him to become depressed, and then him fighting at the end and being himself again, winning against depression is a pretty impactful moment to me. I just didn't like how it was treated ike a joke, and of course I hated his character in Thor 4 because it was illogical and fucking atrocious
So I wouldn’t say that his character was destroyed in Endgame, but as soon as I saw fat Thor, I understood the direction that the MCU would take with him going forward. It was an early warning sign.
@@realmofloredorand you're proven right in Love and thunder
The biggest gripe I had about Fat Thor was not with Thor himself, it was how the writers treated it as a joke. "Haha! He's fat! Nevermind the psychological and emotional trauma he's just been through and the immense guilt he harbors over Thanos' victory! He's FAT! It's funny!"
@@Sarah_H Endgame is perhaps the biggest waste of the MCU. Oh sure they made ton of money but after Infinity War they could have made a film so better than that. The first 20 minutes are by far the best. You actually see Thor being broken after losing against Thanos. But as soon as they made the timeskip it was just pure MCU joke. Fat Thor was bad, really bad. And 2 hours of the film was just a best of or the precedent films. Infinity War was the peak of the MCU. Since then it's really rough.

But the fact they made it a "funny" scene is what wastes it.
0:17. "Is this like a personal attack or something...?!" Now it definitely is!!!

Steve closing that huge wound by fastening the belt on the shield is damn awesome.
Worst things MCU has done to its characters/worst new heroes:
1) Making Thor love and thunder so incredibly silly and joke filled that none of them are at all concerned about the kids literally held captive in a dark world, Thor is so lighthearted and unburdened you'd think he was pre Thor 1 film where he was the prince of Asgard and just spent his days having fun and fighting battles, having some of the most traumatic shit in the universe made fun of, like Hela who literally is responsible for slaughtering the soldiers of Asgard and driving them into caves for safety, or Infinity stone ice cream, as if this isn't the equivalent of making a hitler themed ice cream store.

They did Thor SO dirty in Endgame and beyond, but really it started with Ragnarok. We just couldn't see it then.
We’re honestly lucky that Tony and Cap died in Endgame. It prevented Disney from ruining their characters.
Agreed, they would have gone through toxic masculinity
