SUBSCRIBE! ruclips.net/user/suzannebagher... Take a piece that has been painted in Annie Sloan Chalk Paint and waxed and add a chalk paint wash for a soft look.
If you left the wash on a little longer before wiping would it be more noticeable? I painted a table cream a few months ago and it's just too yellow for my taste. Looking to do a wash over it to tone it down but want to be able to see the wash over a light color such as the cream. Thanks!
Could I do it 3-4 times ? .. is that how you get those country tables that are grey with what “looks like” a white wash .. or is that more about brushing on the grey and then brushing strips of white through it as well .. I want to finish our kitchen table like that but am afraid I won’t get the look I’ve seen on other pieces
If you mean leaving the wash on without wiping - actually it would sit on top of the wax so you should wipe it in. If you are applying a wash over regular paint (without the wax already applied) then yes, you can just leave it one without wiping :)
No I was thinking like you did it but just leave it don't wipe if off. it looks like a crackle finish when you first apply it. with out the wax it wouldn't have that look.
+Ldybugsrus I see what you are saying. I should try it on a small piece and see if it works. Never know till you try. I haven't done that yet but I do use crackle finish to get the look.
+Denise Norbury it is very subtle but actually does make a big difference. It's softer and changes the hue - makes it lighter. It depends on what color you choose as a wash to the difference in color.
Hi! Yes, you absolutely can add paint to wax to get a colored wax effect. Check out my video on how to do it and good luck! ruclips.net/video/EllLvhvw_6Y/видео.html
@@ThePaintedDrawer Great, thanks! I hope my funiture will end up to my liking, after I do something similar. At the moment, there’s some issues with both paint and wax not quite how I would like it. My first project with chalk paint and wax (or even painting a piece of furniture at all). It’s gonna be a focal point in my kitchen, a quite large cupboard with sliding glass doors on top, and sliding wooden doors on the lower half. A sort of petrol/dark aqua cabinet, with purple insides(!).
You need to sand it with 400 grit sandpaper, wipe clean and apply wax again. I have video on how to use AS wax - don't over apply as it will dry patchy.
Looks good

What kind of wax do you use

Thanks a million. I was having such a problem with a piece I did that turned out too dark. You've answered it for me.
Awesome! Glad I could help!
Can you do a side by side picture please. I cannot see a difference
Do you have to wax the piece first or can I do a wash it before I wax the piece.
You can apply the wash before you wax.
Can the paint be left to dry with out wiping if off. it kind of looked like a crackle finish before you wiped.

Can you tell me if this technique is done over cured wax or still wet wax? Thanks
It's done over cured wax. Thanks!
Suzanne Bagheri do you have to wax again after the wash?
is it better to add a wash over wax or just chalk paint?
It actually is fine either way. I typically add it over chalk paint prior to waxing.
?? doesnt look any different from start to finish

Many time's the change is not visible in a picture or a video because maybe of the lighting.
I agree. looks exactly the same.
I was thinking I could mix wax (clear or white) with paint, to get a colored waxed effect. Any thoughts on this?

I have waxed a wardrobe over chalk paint but it's dried patchy how can I correct this.

Stacie Davis oh hi! Back to 2018 when I made this comment 🤣 you are right.
You can also apply the wash prior to wax. Good luck!
