Climbing Mount Lycabettus

Athens is such a crowded, crazy city - I love it, to be sure, but sometimes you want to get away from the noise and the hectic atmosphere of the city. The best place to do that, without getting away from the city itself, is to climb Mount Lycabettus, right in the centre. The views are fantastic!

I'm a local and I hike Lycabettus practically everyday. So many combinations of trails you never do the same hike twice. So crazy and wonderful to have this on my doorstep in this busy city!

I told you I was up here too…..well I wasn’t. I did go up some other less crowded viewpoints though. A lot to see in Athens!

Oh no! It's a shame you didn't join me in that case - it wasn't a difficult climb, even in the heat, and the views were tremendous. It was also brilliant to see just how far I walked on my first day of Athens - you can see all the way to the port from the top of the hill. Still, if you managed to pack your visit full of sights and sounds I guess there's nothing to complain about!
