    I have a pair of similar Steiner binoculars only without the ranger finder. I have looked through many binoculars but Steiner binoculars are always my favorite to use while spotting game. This guy touched on something I always noticed about the porro prism, it is like your are seeing in 3D. I have all sorts of quality rifle scopes, mostly Leupold Mark IV's and a Nightforce so I can appreciate quality glass. It must be that you are looking through two lens that you see this 3D affect. Do yourself a favor and look through a pair of Steiner porro prism binoculars across a field with rolling terrain, you will be thoroughly impressed, I promise.

      The 3D feel does indeed come from using two eyes and it is more pronounced when the objectives are wider apart. That's why you have a somewhat increased 3D feel with porros compared to roof binoculars. If the LRF had an angle indicator, I would have bought these from Steiner on the spot.

    I know you’re not really into birding/wildlife bins, but I just had a chance to look through the Swarovski NL Pure 10x42. Probably the finest optic I’ve ever used. My jaw literally dropped!

      I've seen them. They are quite spectacular although I slightly prefer Leica Noctivid

      @@DarkLordOfOptics the Leica’s were very sharp with amazing resolution. But the Pures fov and overall presentation just did more for me. Very curious about the Steiner Wildlife which can be had for $750. Was a near $2k set not too long ago.

      @@ertatta BY objective metrics NL Pure is probably a more complete binocular, although between NL Pure, Noctivid and Victory SF a lot comes down to personal preference. The way Swaro flattens out the FOV gives me eye fatigue for some reason and the way Leica controls the microcontrast in the Noctivid adds texture to my image the way my eyes see it. As I said it really comes down to personal preference.

      I found the Nl to be very delicate and focus too loose doesn’t stay I. Place in the field, nor does diopter stay put. And eye pieces fell out in the store just taking them off the shelf. Many complaints online reviews, but Steiner can’t match their crisp focus ability. But the Steiner are solid and dependable the swaro you have to baby and always worry about. As good as the NL look I didn’t get them. Settled for Steiner MM 10x50 (not lrf) for $450 as compared to +$3000 for the NL. Swaro is better glass but not 6x better, not even close. Maybe 10-20% better. But no confidence to their durability in real world usage.

      @@user-nw2si7hu3uI know right! They literally send you a bar of soap.with the NL pure lol. Embarrassingly fragile design. I expect them to have serious problems.with debris in the weird hinge diopter combo thing. The optics are amazing from the looks of it (but so have been zeiss victories, conquest hds and meopta meostars for 20 years). The NL looks more like a status symbol and a bad one at that

    Great review but wish you had shot closeups of the binoculars or a view they the lenses. How do the objective lens covers stay on w the tripod adapter? I thought you had to choose one or the other didn’t realize they’d stay on w adapter on too. Would love to see a closeup and thru the lens . Otherwise excellent review .

    How are Leupold's newer Mk3 HD and VX 3HD compare to Optika 6 line, mid magnification range (12-18). I am really attempted to pull the trigger on one of those. For general range, possible future PRS match use.

    • @DarkLordOfOptics
      @DarkLordOfOptics  3 года назад

      Mk3 looks to be another re-badging of the same designs that Leupold has been marketing for decades, so I do not have any plans to test them. As a general rule, with any old Leupold designs, I do not trust the turrets. Mark 5HD tracks just fine, but that's a new design. As far comparing to Optika line goes, that's anybody's guess really. The only Optika6 scopes I tried were all FFP. These Leupold's are SFP. Sort of a apples to oranges. The three Optika6 scopes I have tried all tracked well.

      @@DarkLordOfOptics Good to know. I did see Joe reviewed a Vx3 HD that didn't track perfectly at 100-yard paper, in fact, I was not expecting that at that price point.
      There were also a few older demo SWFA SS fix powered for sale now too at least I know they would track well LOl.

    Здравствуйте, у нас в магазине появились Nightforce NX8 4- 32-50 F2. Помогите с выбором. Мне хочется делать минимальные группы. У меня сейчас есть Nightforce nxs 5,5-22-50 которые хорошо отстраивает параллакс на дистанциях и получается делать группы 0,15-0,2моа. на дистанции 250-300м. дальше хотел бы видеть через стекло свои группы. Думаю его продать и обновить не в ущерб точности. Подскажите стоит ли менять на Nightforce NX8 4- 32-50 F2. А то я слышал от стрелков что Nightforce NX8 4- 32-50 F1 имеет плохую отстроику и когда меняешь кратность плохо видно сетку прицела. Сетка уходит с фокуса. Считаю это большим недостатком. Nightforce NX8 4- 32-50 F2 имет такие недостатки? Скажите какие стёкла? как работает параллакс?

      I you talking about the one with the 1535nm laser? I plan to review that in the beginning of the year. That having been said, as a binocular, I think the 10x50 is better.

      I have the m830r LRF with the same laser as this one, not the other 10k version.
      My dad bought my brother and I whatever binos we wanted when he retired as this super nice gift. After much research I got the m830r LRF.
      I adore these things! Big ups to everything he said about the 10x version. Only it’s much more compact. I can get buildings at the beach off hand easily out to 1800 meters. The depth of field and field of view are incredible! The optical quality with compactness makes this the perfect hunting bio as well as ELR shooting/spotting bino.
