I know, I should have waited to get this one, but anyway, I just want to know what the main differences between this and the Tetra are. Same software as stated, but with more device storage, cloud storage, more antennas = more range/multitasking, more ports, licensing for enterprise, etc. Had the same thought initially. Extrapolating the reason for enterprise version.
You can kiss your previous version goodbye, they will absolutely stop supporting it right away and you will end up with a brick like I did with all the previous versions I have bought from hak5 .
The MK7 software isn't compatible with the previous generation, however those devices will continue to see critical updates through their 5 year life-cycle.

I LOVE Hack 5 gear. This stuff is great. HOWEVER.... Not having 5Ghz in the new pineapple is crazy. 5Ghz should be standard across the whole range. No one wants to survey 2.4GHZ only... The fact that we need to purchase a separate module that's not ready yet is nuts guys. Not a win in my books guys. Sorry. I know you guys are trying (and succeeding in most cases).

Reading the comments, I can t understand why an individual who already has a Pineapple could remotely be interested in buying a Mark VII. Have they forgotten the non-working firmware, the inexistent modules that should be developed by the community but the community is dead, and 6 the months spaced messages from a Hak5 team member who tells us "the issue is being reviewed". but never get fixed. If you don t remember that, or if you don t believe me, please have a look at the official forums.

I understand a lot of this, however I just have a question. Does this allow you to tap into Wi-Fi networks or do I have to already have a connection? I would like to use one of these for work, however it'd be nice to know I have Wi-Fi almost anywhere I go.

@@GreyHazRoot lol. Nah. In my config, the linksys is just a somewhat legit wap, i mean it sill has stock fw because none of the "WRT's" support it yet. The pi is connected to it via ethernet and just responds to arp requests and runs tcpdump. Besides, The linksys e5350 I have only has like 64mb flash memory methinks and no usb ports, so even if it were to get cfw support, not much more that can be done with it.
Okay I know I'm going to get a bunch of people saying RTFM but I have and love my new pineapple... But I completely forgot my setup/login pass. I tried following all the docs I can find but can you please tell me how to do a proper factory reset without having it plugged into the computer (or a way to factory reset the password from a windows or kali box?) I tried flashing the firmware again over windows but got nothing but a red light. Occasionally having a teal colored light show up. I appreciate any advice or help, you guys are amazing
Will there be a video on soldering the LED module in the Kismet case mod? The 4 debug pins are so close together that its super easy to short them even with a tiny amount of solder. I am shocked there is no tutorial on this
Can you please consider a video that focuses on monitoring? I don't have any interest in hacking per say but I am interested in potentially using this as a WiFi monitoring device. I am not really clear how this device can be used for that specific purpose. Thank you in advance!

Normally when they release a new version, the old version goes by by for the most part. There have been minimal updates but due to hardware its usually small and makes the device obsolete :) This will be my 4th Pineapple :)
We did a lot to optimize the CPU in the MK7. For instance, the server is now custom - instead of relying on nginx & an interpreted language. We also now offload some heavy tasks to the browser. Between that and the 50% higher clock speed on a newer arch it's got plenty of headroom. The Enterprise, with its quad-core ARM, is a totally different ball game too.
You have to admire his enthusiasm. He talks about wifi the way most teenage boys talk about girls.
Can we all agree Darren doesn't age... He is like the Paul Rudd of the IT world.

The linksys router is still fine, its dual band and supports 802.11b/g/n/ac
